Did you have any heat related problems. In my engine bay, there's cabling and air-con fridge lines nearby. What sort of power did you get then compared to now. Did you keep the TD07S. Sorry to blast you with so many questions. Regards.

Anyone ever seen or know of a successful low mount of a GT30/40 or GT35/40 in an R33 ? These two turbos apparently use the same size housings. I'm trying to avoid changing my plenum and all my piping. The stock turbo is already quite close to the strut tower. I've seen various low mount manifolds available which appear to push the turbo further down, but might only suit R32 & R34. Can anyone confirm...

RE: Oil Squirters My RB30E block apparently didn't have enough wall thickness to tap in to.

Gees you got that in quick ! What did you pay for it ?
-
Can't go forward. There's nothing between the induction pipe and the bonnet. Running a bar behind the BOV is too bigger an offset. It will flex under load i.e USELESS. What head do you have ?

stage 1

yeh but how rigid is it going to be ? I haven't seen any pics either. See pic below, can't move it forward with the RB25DET head, have to go right back against the firewall. Useless...

Can you get a front strut brace across that ? I guess everyone with the RB30 is losing it.
-
Re: Front strut brace unable to fit. After losing my front strut brace I noticed she's a bit looser in the front end on hard cornering. Anyone mucked around with a triangulated brace and are they any good?

I read somewhere stock prepped rods will hold up to 350 rwkw and pistons up to 320 but pushing it especially over a six day race ! There's quite a few RB30 DOHC's goin around now, heaps of which have stock internals and still going after 2 years of thrashing. But racing is a bit different to thrashing. You should read the DIY RB30 DOHC PDF. It pretty much covers everything. These web address is in post #3190

Sorry, don't know about the other mounts.

You read the DIY RB30 PDF at www.geocities.com/r32_jjc/ ? These measurements were accurate for us. Just had to squash down a little the induction and fuel regulator. Straight strut brace can't clear. Need the Greddy plenum or a new triangulated brace. Can't feel any difference in the front end without to be honest. We sliced off the back plate on the main mount that lacks meat, continuously welded all round each web a new 10mm plate. Then, lowered the engine in to mark the holes.

What if it's a hot lookin bird.. That's the problem with coupes, the back seat is f"n useless. Might convert my GTS-T into a panelvan one day. Bitches in the front, bitches in the back...

Maybe get some shares in Garrett or HKS. You'll be going through turbos quick enough.

Bloody hard to find used injectors. Anyone know good places to look ?

Here's mine. Not much to look at yet. Next stop paint shop.

TweakIt at Mona Vale, Sydney. They're doing the build for me.

You could fit a high flow cartridge into that for about $1900. Keep the stock manifold and plumb in a BOV. Cheaper than a whole new turbo kit, new manifold, new induction pipes plus labour. My R33 had it done before I bought it, managed 247 rwkw @ 12psi, actually held 15 quite well. The best configuration was to set it at 18psi for 3 secs then back to 15psi through the scrambler function on the boost controller. The sound of the induction is awesome, with a low flutter on decelleration. The compressor inlet was bored to take a 56 mm compressor wheel (inducer), a 500 hp ball bearing core fitted, hot side took a steel wheel with more trim, spools up very quick , could break traction easily. Should get the RB30 fitted hopefully next week, I'll be leaving this turbo on for now, will post performance specs later.

I ended up getting CP forged pistons for $1250 / set 8.3:1 cr Chrone forged rings for $270 / set. The finish on the pistons is absolutely brilliant. Also using REV rods @ $1550 / set. Couldn't get oil squirters in though. What lift are the HKS 264 cams, and how were they in the RB20

No way I'd stick with stock pistons in a rebuild like this. I'm going forged pistons, rings and rods, N1 oil & water pumps, Oil squirters fitted in the RB30 block. No bloody way I'm gonna be standing outside Goulburn at 2 a.m. on a Sunday night waiting for a tow again... Later on, after she's run in, I'll do my head and bigger turbo. I hoping to get high mileage with this engine

you thinking of selling the Poncams ?
-
see, told ya's this is the best place for research

My head is off right now but I'm out of money. Stock cams and the old T3-T4 turbo are back on for now. Hopefully should get 280 rwkw for the moment. Next February, aiming for bigger injectors, GT35/40 and tomei cams. After all this, I'll be content. Just wanna get 0-100 in under 4 secs.
