If it was me I would budget more and get something like this:
http://www.carsales.com.au/used-cars/priva...2&trecs=110
Then get a full respray, rims, suspension give the interior a good clean out and rip out those monster gauges.
You might get that for $8,500... respray $2k, wheels $2k, suspension $1k = $13,500 for a nice clean 32. Then you can think about performance mode etc. But again, $8k for a 32 is only a starting point there will always be plenty more to spend. Otherwise leave it as is and its just another less than average car....
This is the point I am trying to make. Any manual R32 GTS-T for $8k is going to need a lot spent on it to make it good....
Go buy it then.... I hope it is all that it should be.....
Yeah this sounds 'decent'.....
You and I clearly have different opinions on what a decent car is. I shudder to think at the heap of an R32 that you end up with....
Yeah true, People like that I always want them to buy a real cheap example so they can find out just how wrong they were. They end up costimg themselves more than they could have ever imagined..... serves them right!
If you want a turbo/manual R32, and you want to spend $8,000 then you are making a mistake. I am sure you might be able to find such a car but it will be a POS and even if you spend a few grand fixing it its still not as good as most others!
I can't stand ppl that say what car they want, then say that like all of them are "over priced" and that they will never pay that kind of money. You need to consider that maybe you are wrong and the market is right. The market is subject to all the regular factors of any goods market. Some people are prepared to pay $12,000 for a good r32.
If you are not then get something else but I know that any $8k turbo manual sports car is going to be very old and/or a POS... endless headaches.... but that is your mistake to make!
I have a 3" turbo back exhaust with high flowed cat and a Simota pod filter on my 32. Otherwise the engine side of thigs are stock. With these I get massive amounts of induction noise and quite a loud bov sound also. If I turn off stereo I can hear bov when i release accelerator at any revs... and at 100km/h there is constant induction sound. I like it!
I am well aware they are copies. And I am more than sure they are nowhere near the quality. But $4,000 + on rims is not gunna happen.. Well I went with some other wheels anyway, can't wait to get them fitted,,,,,,
Fair enough. I bought a different set of rims the other day, I shaved my brake calipers so they fit. But I love the rims so it was worth it, when I get time I will sand the rest of the caliper and paint them black... so it will look hot when its done!
^^ Fair enough, best of luck finding a suitable car.
And yes, they are the type of car you can make plans for and spend a lot on. Since buying mine I have done full stereo, put on brand new full exhaust, completely resprayed the car, 18" wheels and im in the process of getting coilovers for it... not to mention countless other things like gauges etc, its hard to not spend money on but thats all part of the fun
Well after speaking to an engineer I ended up deciding to take his advice and shaved the calipers back to allow the rim to clear it.
I will eventually sand the rest of the caliper and paint it black...
DAMN.... THEY ARE HOT!
I dont think my car would fit 8.5 though, my mate has 18 x 8 on his and it rubs..
I ended up sanding back caliper so the original rims i wanted fit now... problem sovled
Well I can scratch that idea. They are too similar to my frineds rims (also owns a 32) so he doesnt want me to get them.
I'm gunna just have to do whatever to make the original wheels I wanted fit:
Hey, The rims look okay, but im not a huge fan of the gold with silver lip colour combo. I'm after a set like these but in this colour: (18 x 7.5)
What size are the ones on your car and do they clear the front brake calipers ok?? I own an r32 gts-t
Yeah sweet. Well if clearance isnt an issue there then it shouldn't be for me. I'll have to make a few calls 2moro then to try get a set to test fit and return the others that I had a deposit on. I'll keep you posted. Thanks for your help mate, much appreciated!!!
Yeah I feared that was the case with those Driftek's. Its a shame cause they are a really nice design, but I currently have 17's on my car and its not worth changing to just get a nicer design I want the biggest rims I can fit legally!
Thanks for the reply though!
Excellent!! Finally some good news. I emailed them from their website to get specific info, but im sure if they will fit your car they will fit mine. I assume your cars front calipers are 4 pot also?
Oh nice, yeah that sounds good for 18"s thats about what I was looking at. Maybe spend a little more to get some decent rubber.
Do you know what offset they are and if they will suit an R32 Gts-t? Because a set of rims i recently ordered didnt clear my brakes... The 4 pots that came with my car are quite big... good to have, but annoying to fit rims to.
I have the same car, my projectors are H1. But my mate bought some r32 projector headlights for his 32 cause he didnt like the daggy standard lights, and they had H3-C or sumthing. It was a VERY odd size, had to go to ebay to get some nice globes for it.
They are easy as to take out a globe mate, just dont touch the globe itself. Take it into an autobarn and they can tell you for ceratin what type of globes you have. Because between 3 R32's i have seen now 3 different types of globes.
Yeah, I did just find these ones:
They come in:
19 x 7.0 inches
19 x 8.0 inches
18 x 7.5 inches
17 x 7.0 inches
Such a wierd selection of sizes... 19 x 7.. wtf ?
but yeah at least 18 x 7.5 would do the job.
With that first site, they are all brand name wheels. I looked at the prices, I assume they are per wheel, so for the ones i liked that over $4k for a set without tyres. That is insane, I could never justify that kind of money.
The second webiste I found a couple of wheels i liked, but they were either only available in 17" or 19".... 17's are too small and 19's are illegal. I can't believe how hard it is to find wheels. I found out the wheels i liked are koya driftek's http://www.koya.com.au/ and appear to be only available in 17". I am speechless that they dont make 18's...
