  1. In the states, what we know as the Maxima (and Asia knows as the Cefiro) is called the "Infiniti I30" and is pretty much part for part the same as what we have. The vehicle sold and marketed in America as the Nissan Maxima has a very different body to the Infiniti (ie our Maxima) however has the same engine and setup. The US Maxima, because of it's more aggressive looks is marketed as a sports luxury car. Although Maximas are by no definition, a sports car (FWD) they have a very powerful and reliable engine, and in fact the VQ30DE won the award for `Best V6' in the USA 4 years in a row. That's pretty fricking impressive. You could check out http://www.maxima.org for some ideas on how you could put a turbo in a VQ engine, as some people in the states do do this. My sugguestion though, would be supercharge and Steve Miller (of Stillen) has done this to a handful of Maxima's around the world and sells it as the `Stillen SMX'. Hope you get some good ideas and I would be very interested to see if your project goes through.
  2. A mate of mine does them. I'm not sure if it's his full time gig anymore, but give Gary a buzz on 0419-683-386.
  3. Sorry couldn't help you, but dude, I think you mean `bumper'. Gluck.
  4. Fun quotes taken out of context (Instalment#1): *points to the above* LMFAO Sorry it had to be done bro. Sorry about my dad and the light man, I went to Awun the other day and they are open so swing around on one of your many days off.
  5. Basically any country that uses the Lunar calender as opposed to the Solar, usually in conjunction. I think these are mainly China, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Korea. Indonesia and Singapore celebrate New Year's Day 4 times in a year because they have Hindu, Islam, Chinese and Western New Year's Days. Joy to be them! "Loon mah Jing sun --- sum serng si seng!!!" *open palm on fist* :usuck:
  6. Indeed! Seems as though our friends in the States and Canada are the only ones blessed with a fully manual model then. Jamezilla: I think we left before the Blue one got there (I was with Pushead and CR34TION).. Very damn impressed though! Would really contemplate buying it if i had no car. Maybe in the future though... if it is still up for grabs.. What I really wanna do is take one for a spin! (which prolly won't happen now since i've publicly declared that i don't have any current intention to purchase lol) You ever driven it / one? Good looks for pointing out who it belonged to though. We spoke to Oyabun for a moment too, I believe. Merry Christmas all.
  7. I agree it really really woulnd't be wise to speculate circumstances surrounding a crash in any public forum, especially since there are fatalities. Best wishes and condolences to anyone reading that may be involved or may know people affected. I saw police cars also on Princes Hwy as I was coming back, but as far as i could see the accident actually happened on the S.Eastern (city bound)
  8. Hey I saw one of those too, over the weekend (at the BMT group dyno day in Melbourne). Turbo charged with a nice exhaust.. took a couple of photos also. I was wondering if anyone from this board owned it actually. I think it may have bypassed that `can't import coz sold here law' because the Cefiro came with heaps of varying models... FWD, AWD, RWD, 2.0L, 3.0L, turbo, N/A.. etc.. *shrugs* Pushead: I just saw a Canadian website quote the '04 Max at doing 0-100km/h in 6 seconds (http://www.auto123.com/en/info/news/previe...artid=5939&pg=4) but in all honesty I think it is more realistically in the low 7's... Our DETUNED and auto only (not happy jan!) version comes in at about 8.5. Knore: I hear you bruda..apparently in New Zealand there was an add running for the Maxima marketing it as the answer to the Ford vs. Holden war. Heh
  9. I've always liked the Maxima. For a V6 it's just something different to a two bit commodore, falcon or magna (it was either a max or a liberty anyway). It packs a fair punch so is a definite sleeper.. in fact it was marketed in the states as `a wolf in sheeps clothing'. In Asia it is sold as The Cefiro / Teana and in the U.S. as the `Infiniti / Maxima' both regions enjoying mass credibility. I blame Nissan marketing (or lack thereof) for it's `old peoples' street credibility (well, that at the 90% of old people that actually make up the purchasing demographic) =P Just found out that the '04 don't come it manual -- what's up with that!
  10. I know this might be blasphemous, but has anyone seen or driven the '04 Maxima? I saw one the other day at the Nissan on Springvale Road in Glen Waverley and it looks like a lot of value for its $40,000 (plus ORC) base model ST-L asking price. - 3.5 litre 170kW engine (same as the 350Z) - 17 inch alloy wheels - Dual zone passenger / driver climate control - 4 airbags - Power Everything Definitely Looks good to me and not too bad looking either, although i'm not too crash hot on the rear (i'm more of a titties man myself!! hahahaha) :headspin:
  11. The ADD guy.. LOL *shrugs* Maybe the pics are bad or whatever.... I'm not sure what car yous are talking about but that big irritable bastard drove a 99 Maxima and they ARE FWD. (What did you expect? I thought people thought Maxima drivers were a bunch of old ****s) Anyway... take my word, I should know. *thumps fist to heart* :uh-huh: Another link: http://www.m-emag.com/article.asp?section_...1&article_id=55
  12. Stang: It IS a Maxima. Assuming y'all are talking about THIS...
