  1. What do you guys think about making your intake port smaller?? And this figure came from an stock yamaha R6 only with the intake part has done the "smaller" porting size. I know its for a motorcycle and a Natural Aspirated engine, could we have similar result if its been done to our the RB's? Yamaha R6 - Stock Ports 103.1 HP - 20% Smaller Ports 104.1 HP - 30% Smaller Ports 108.3 HP !! CBR 600F3 Before & After The Blue Line represents a cylinder head that was "flow bench ported" by a well known U.S. motorcycle performance tuning company. The Blue Line shows that enlarging the stock intake ports a small amount, caused this engine to lose power throughout the entire power curve. The good news is, The Red Line shows that after fixing the "flowbench ported" head by making the ports 35% smaller... this CBR 600F3 gained more than 10 HP !! Since The Blue Line's head ports were already "flowed out" even bigger than stock, there was about an extra 3 horsepower recovered. In this case, a stock head would have worked better than the flowbench ported head. Feel free 2 comment....and for the full URL:MotoTune USA
  2. one of my friend did this conversion on a RB20det.... and he said it was slightly laggy compared to a rb25 turbo.... maybe the RX7 turbo is a good upgrade on the 25. don't take my word for it.... for the machining part, i am not sure... maybe you could consult a machine shop on that matter...
  3. what do you mean manually?? meaning manual boost controller? maybe i can find one set of solenoid here in my hometown.... pm me if interested.
  4. the z32 subframe is so much wider compared to the other nissan subframes. so, its a no for fitting a Z32 subframe to a r32. The difference btwn the r33 and the r32 subframe is that the R33 uses a 2 big screws at the rear of the axle same with the S14 and 15 axles. Rather than the R32,S13,180sx axles that has 4 screws at the rear of the diff. the center diff is interchangeable btwn all nissans R200 box.
  5. from my experience, the 20 and 25 clutch, flywheel , clutch bearing and pressure plates are the same. some of my friends even fitted a gtr pressure plate since it has more clamping pressure. mod to the flywheel is needed to fit the gtr pressure plate,
  6. usually, the IGN means that when u twist ur key, then lights are on in ur dash meter and the ecu is also getting ready to manage the engine. IGN doesnt mean that it connects directly to the Ignition. the main wires supply current to the coils, the IGN wire acts as a trigger to start controlling the car. try find a wire that is red with black stripes. most likely thats the ign wire.
  7. for the r33 rb25 models. theres a socket in the dashboard ares... as i remember,*if im not mistaken*you just need a couple of wires to start up the rb25det engine. the Direct power, ignition, ground, and the power for the injectors. found some info.... have alook. http://www.rbforums.org/pdfs/RB25DET%20int...ing%20guide.pdf
  8. from going around at shops that sells secondhand turbo's and some info from the net, The rb20 turbo has Nissan and 16v carved at the housing for the rb25's, also has the Nissan and 45v* as there are many models that i have seen/found. 45v1,45v2,45v3,and 45v4 the v1 came from VG30 engines v2 and v3 comes from the rb25det r33 (not sure S1/S2) v4 came from R34 gtt's. most of the V4 turbo's that i have seen has steel fin compared to the plastic/ceramic fin from early models. thus can boost higher.... anybody can confirm my finding?
  9. from the info that i have gathered from fellow mechanics, the diff btwn the silver top DET n DE are the difference in lift. the DE ones lift higher than the DET ones. The red top cams have slightly more duration than the silver top one's. anybody can confirm this??
  10. it freaked me out too....... i am also thinking the same thing.... making the RB20s' compression slightly higher. thus making driveability off boost better of the higher comp ratio. **looking for RB20 head**
  11. Some of my friends are using customized Teflon intake gaskets to replace the standard one as they say that it seals much better and its not prone to leak. As the standard one gives way during tuning and high boost application. Just some of info that i got. Any ideas?
  12. bro, could you post a smaller picture size? i couldnt get a better view. from the large size pic's. thanks.....
  13. sorry for hijacking ur thread. i have seen many sr20's running GT2835. would this suit the RB20?
  14. i think the motorman trick did work... year 2000,i trashed a brand new car that has not seen 1000 km.(brand new sister's car) taking it to the rev line every time in every gear. and now the engine is still running perfectly and without any rebuilt since the day we bought it. back here in my hometown, usually the mechanics ask us to run in with mineral oil for 500km's and then another change using mineral oil for another 2000 km's. only after that, returning back to use synthetic oil. but we didnt opened the engine to check if the technique really worked.
  15. i dont think that the evc3 doesn't have a built in timer. i have used EVC1/4/5 before. no built in turbo timer function.
