  1. Top thread, top read..... OH Performance has been mega dodgy for a long time. I remember back in the day (2004-2005) when he had an orange S15 w/RB26 and an M-Sports Kit. I think it had a HKS T51 in it? Anyway, it would do 2 laps then f**k up and be back on the trailer back to the workshop EVERY MEET. How are the "HKS" Intercoolers going mate.... still welding them up in the workshop using cut down truck cores? If you had any business sense and were not a scam artist - you would and could have made a lot of money given you were in the industry early. Im supprised you haven't pissed off the wrong people and have been paid back for it. VIC's fastest GTR? Pfft, in your dreams buddy.....
  2. Try a Wrecker..... Could also be something trival like swarf (tiny filings) either on the valve seat or in the valve guide causing them to stay slightly open. The head should have been pressure/vaccum tested before assembly - this would have detected it before you installed.
  3. Turbo shaft play is NORMAL. Try telling that to the Magazine Mechanics who would tell you otherwise! Unless the shaftplay is causing the turbine blades to rub against the housing, ie: excessive shaft play causing obstruction, it is 100% Normal. Free shaft play, with no oil can be reduced to minimal or no shaft play once oil is filled into the turbo. Also remember to prime the turbo with oil before you install it.
  4. Hey guys, calling on the gurus out there who have done this before. Ive got a Bosch intank pump that i want to put into an R32 GTST, but in order to maximise current and performance, i would like to run seperate wiring to the stock pump all the way to power and ECU. I am told that you need a seperate relay setup and heavy gauge fused wiring. I was thinking of keeping the stock wiring as is and then running the aftermarket pump just incase the pump gets sold or changed back to stock. Is there a FAQ or Tutorial about doing this? What are your experiences and how did you overcome spefic problems. Im not an autoelec by trade, but i have done a few custom wiring installs before, just need a circuit diagram witha general direction to where i should be heading thats all My impression is that i need to get the fuel pump on signal from the ECU, switch a relay that powers the fuel pump and presto your pump is on. Fuel pump signal goes off, pump turns off. Everything is grounded nice and tidy back to the battery for optimum performance. Does the R32 have a current droping resistor prohibiting the amount of voltage that goes to the pump during light loads, like on other nissans? Thanks guys -- ---- Costa
  5. Hey there, i saw that your car got rejected for SEVS Compliance. Which workshop was it? Craig Deans, Shogun etc? May i ask what exactly happened? Seems a bit harsh dont you think, when they would comply anythign with wheels on it back in the day Did it not pass crash testing/previous accident history, or did it fail emissions testing? Did you end up paying for the SEVS compliance or at least get a refund on the import duty as the car is only good for parts? Cheers Clear your PMs, as i tried to send this via PM but it didnt work.
  6. Hey guys, ive got a Z32 AFM Casing - perfect to upgrade the diameter of the RB20 maybe RB25/SR20 The item is the casing assembly only, so you can bolt in your existing airflow meter sensor and reap the benefits of a bigger diameter filter/induction to turbo. Brand new, not used and i can supply a plug as well. Pictures: Asking $170 firm, will deliver interstate via express post for ~10. Cheers. Call or email me, 0433220139, 0407311375 [email protected]
  7. $150 for a comprehensive top quality car care kit that will last a few years is a good price. Considering the same thing in Meguires etc will cost you about 60-80 depending on what ones you buy and how much, that US stuff is good value for the quality your getting. The best thing you can do is store the car in a garage with minimal dust when its not in use. Paint can fade and dull from the sun's constant abuse and its something that you dont want happening to a new paint job. Another plus is that you can wash the car less and keep it immaculate looking for longer What color Joel? Any pics?? How much was the full respray
  8. Lol VERY Bad camera angle, i was about 1.5M away from the wall. I didnt hit it, however the car doesnt have ABS, so you gotta work the brakes. It was a wet night, but damn was it fun. As for the boat arguments, youll be supprised how well it hooks up when you can get the right line and amount of power to the ground. This furthers my argument that drift is not a car dependant sport as most people think but a driver dependant sport as they need to understand how it works, their limits and the cars limits. There were a few casulties that night i think. I know a yellow silvia with stickers hit the wall on the main straight comming out of the last corner, on the rear passenger quarter panel, but it looks like an easy fix. Not sure if that 180sx hit the wall at the end of that video, certainly sounded like it. Your ment to start out with shitty cars, but given thats all i have access to at the moment, you use what you can. My drift project is an R32 with an RB25 so if you know anyone with a decent R32 shell or a crappy R32 GTS AUTO (or similar) for cheap, let me know im very keen and interested. I did a couple of complete laps, but the last corner proved to be a little difficult. Got to come in from the outside, yank the hand brake and hopefully you got the right angle to persue a constant slide. My favorite corners are hte 1st one that no one sees (Very good corner, high speed etc) and linking the S before the bridge. The last corner is a tough one to master - and the one most people focus on. That post before wasnt directed to Funkymonkey, but rather the loudmouths that know it all and think 'drift is teh suck' because they are such an expert, they dont need to try it out to bag it. I loath both the wannabe kiddy drifters and the _experts_ that know just about everything with Zero experience. Just like those people that say that you should never brake when your in an out of control slide ..... I should be attending the drift day on the 16th this month, but since the soarer is my friends car we will be sharing this time. Two drivers, one car He doesnt know hardly anything about drift or the dyamics of cars and his driving skill isnt really that great, but he is keen to learn in a safe environment. SS8_Gohan, your on the money with the infancy of the sport. Some companies are desperate to try out a new marketing gimick, and thus sponsoring a drift event or a few cars. Its a young sport, but there will be some people with the right money and contacts to be able to drift like a jap pro some day.
  9. Before you go and bag drift, i want to ask if you have ever drifted a car at a track? If not then sit down loud mouth, because its a lot harder than it looks and dont be quick to bag something that you havent done or even cannot do/are not interested in doing. If trolling forums and talking crap to people about something that you have never even experienced, your in the same boat as the wannabe drifters as you have no real comprehension of what drift is and what it means to the drivers giving it a go. While the aussis have a half assed attempt at drift, at least its now getting sanctioned at calder park by full lock crew. Ive been to the first drift day in a car that isnt 'built for drift' but i still had a good time and also hanged it more sideways than half of the cars out there (s13). The car is a White Soarer 5spd manual, exhaust, FMIC and boost to 12psi and LSD. Rest is stock, even the suspension isnt 'drift spec' (koni dampers with king springs - no adjustment). You have to start somewhere. Japan has been drifting ever since the early 80s at least, so that puts them ahead 25 years. They have 180sx's like we do geminis and they are that cheap. They have the money, motorsport venues and more importantly the fan base to persue drift and push it to its limits. The USA has arrogance but more importantly MONEY to make anything turn its way. That Pontiac GTO is a fantastic machine and can rival some D1 competitors (Two top 16 finishes at the D1 comp). For the record, i havent drifted in the streets. I have had some tail happy power oversteer when exiting corners at times and some slappers, but i do not call this drift. I dont drift in streets because its very dangerous and your more likely to trash your car by hitting a gutter or killing yourself on a pole. $100 bucks for a track day, 4 hrs of drifting, what more could you want? Safe environment, no police, no gutters or poles to hit and a great time giving your car hell. I too hate the whole fad, with DRFT stickers, autotechnia exhausts and wannbes talking about drifting like they are gods, but havent even pulled the handbrake in their car before. These people make me sick, but at least they stay out of my way because they have so much experience and are experts at _everything_, they dont bother comming to track days to give it a go. In short, drifting is a lot harder than it appears, and 'drift cars' only assist in the stability of the car when drifting, but dont exactly drift the car for you. If you were a really bad driver and you jumped into a ferarri to dominate racing, your lap times will be faster than your usual times, but by other champion ferarri drivers standards, your still just as crap as you where, only the wheels have gotten better. Drift is a lot more driver dependant and it requires a lot of balls, skill and precision. Money is also an element, but ive seen an R31 skyline, non-turbo with a welded diff, standard soggy suspension, out drift many cars worth 5 times its value. I go to the track day and enjoy the drifting because i have a good time and i collaborate with people that do the same. I dont think ill make it as a D1 driver but at least im going to have a lot of fun copying, learning drift style and racing. I have come to the conclusion that 90% of the 'FULLY SIK DRIFTERS" cannot drift and havnet drifted in their lifes, but they are good money making machines for the companies and hence why the media/companies are making money off it. At the end of the day, some other 'breakthrough' motorsport will be taking over and all the wannabes will be quick to migrate to that. If you want to have a FUN TIME in a compeitive environment, come to the drift day, info here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=42567 If you want to continue talking crap, please do so and ill glady dismiss you as a wanker who doesnt know what their talking about because they havnet even been to a track day
  10. Blade, it means "WERD" like Word. A small ebonics lesson: In better context, "WERD NIGGA!" as in "I hear you".
  11. I had a feeling this was true when i was looking at the plugs of each AFM online. Good mod, thanks for the info The RB30E and ET AFM is a Bosch Item.
  12. Hey guys, just after any of the above for a track car. Must have compliance (15 year old, Sevs etc) and be in repairable condition (no chassis damage, toal write off etc). PM/Email me information / pictures. Thanks. -- ----- Costa
  13. Many Short Shifters work by increasing the pivot point of the shaft that goes into the gearbox locator. They lengthen the shaft that goes into the gearbox. This will increase the height of the actual gear stick because you need spacers to raise the whole gear shifter so that the end of the extended shaft can fit into the gearbox locator. It is recommeneded that you run a high quality sythetic oil, such as REDLINE MTL so that all the components can be better lubricated for easier shifts. IF you cut the standard shaft, or not making a true short shifter, as the pivot point is exactly the same . Nothing is shorter as the arc length has not changed. The end result is a notchy shifter that will break your box because you will be banging it in gear all the time. Your car, your property, but if you value you car and want to save money in the long run, put up with the longer shifter otherwise enjoy notchy shifts and gearbox rebuilds
