It's completely normal for the importation process to include deregistration slips being verified. But normally that is done BEFORE the car is shipped to Australia. Customs would only ask for that documentation if they have reason to suspect foul play. Sounds interesting man, you could ring them diret and find out exactly what is going on?

Just dropped a new RB25 (front cut motor) into it 6000k's ago with rebuilt turbo, brand new suspension and a series 1.5 with volk GTC's. I think the OP needs to do some research into what he could get for selling the rims and giving up the idea of having a stock wheel lawl. All comes back to 'each to their own' though doesn't it.
