  1. Yeah would have been pretty horrible Terry ...I'd say it's the actual event that led to the recall. Very unfortunate it wasn't picked up before something like that could happen. Always used to throw the rims under on the old R31 when jacking but once I got the stands I stopped as I figured that was the safety net, most of the time leaving the car on the jack after just letting it down onto the stands so there wasn't any chance off them being knocked over either. There have been times I've taken the jack away though for access and then its solely the stands stopping me from being crushed Anyway, hope this helps stop any more tragedies from happening...spread it to any other Aussie car forums your a member of that hasn't heard of it yet, that's what I did as I'm pretty much 100% on the Aus300zx forum normally (as much as I hate being part of chain mail, I feel this is a little different ). Cheers, Craig
  2. I believe so, but I think any other brand stands with the same latching system would be worth investigating....I'm thinking I'll try and find a set like this, the pins would be far less likely to fail that a hinged latch...I think this is a good example where a simple system works better than an overcomplicated one, I wouldn't quite say the latch is overcomplicated but going back to basics is usually the best way to ensure its main purpose...keeping our DIY mechanics safe Cheers, Craig
  3. Hi All, Haven't been on here a good while but thought I would spread the worrisome news...there's been a recall on Repco branded axle / car stands, I think the latch is defective on them. Mate of a forum member on the Australian 300zx club was recently killed when these exact stands gave way and he was crushed to death. I have a very similar set of Recpo stands that were also part of a package like above, but they are orange, 3T not 2 with a different, thicker latch handle and are 3-4 years old...still going to take them in though and have them checked...always better to be safe than very sorry Cheers Craig
  4. Hi Everyone, Circumstances have changed (for the better ) and so there isn't an urgent need as such to sell the GTR...BUT my direction and goals in life have changed so she is still up for sale but at the old original price of: $34,000 ONO Cheers, Craig
  5. Just letting everyone know that this is still for sale, open to offers (within reason ) so don't be afraid to ask. Thanks, Craig
  6. Hi Everyone, I am dropping the price, it is now for sale at $32,000 ONO. Cheers! Craig
  7. Hi Rob, Yes the cage is still available, I'll give you a call tonight after work. Cheers! Craig
  8. Thanks for the compliments guys, she really is a special car and it will be sad to see her go Cheers! Craig
  9. Happy New Year Everyone! Just letting you all know she's still up for sale, you won't see an R32 GTR of this condition up for sale every day so don't hesitate to contact me if your interested Cheers! Craig
  10. Bumpo....still up for sale...not expecting much interest being right before Christmas, unless of course you want to give it as a present to someone Cheers! Craig
  11. ?? If your referring to the mountain bike, no its a Ghost. Please keep replies on topic if possible and you should really only post if your interested in purchasing the roll cage Cheers! Craig
  12. Hi J, Im in Bendigo, bit over an hour north of Calder Park in Melbourne. The rear arms bolt to the top of the rear wheel wells / arches. As far being legal for road use, I'd say no ...but then how many people have fully legal cars ....I think though that as long as they don't obstruct you from getting in and out of a car easily (so no door cross braces) and the parts of the cage you could hit your head on are padded properly to prevent injury they probably wouldn't care too much...its the same for harnesses as they make it harder and take longer to get someone out of a car in an emergency either by themselves or by emergency personnel. Cheers! Craig
  13. Hi Michael, Sorry but I don't know who made it or if it is approved by either of those guys, I do know it is constructed very well. Here are some more pics for you to take a closer look. In regards to shipping I'm not sure, it would have to be through a courier, I can probably find out through my dads work if you are serious about buying and getting it up there. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...xtraParts20.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...xtraParts21.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...xtraParts22.jpg This is what it packs up to. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...xtraParts24.jpg Hi Jack, I'm not an expert on differences between the GTR and GTST but I'd say with a lot of confidence that the cabins are the same and it should fit straight in Let me know if you have any other questions guys. Cheers! Craig
  14. Hi Guys, Thanks for pointing this out to me, I had no idea and do not want to be a dodgy seller as such. I bought them a couple of years back now so there's no hope of a refund, I can't even remember who I bought them off now That aside, they are still a very high quality harness and still in brand new condition. I've used them a couple of times the once I had them installed and had no issues what so ever with them, was held very tight into the seat while being quite comfortable having the wide straps. Due to them not being genuine, aka "copies" I'm reducing the price to $200 each Thanks, Craig
  15. Hi mate, Here's the official website http://www.aerocatch.com/ And here's where I got them from http://www.revolutionracegear.com.au/index.php?PCID=10499 Anyone else though, please only reply if your an interested buyer. (PM me if you have a non sale questions ). Thanks, Craig
  16. Hi Everyone, The time has arrived where push comes to shove financially and unfortunately that means it's time to sell my pride and joy, my dream car, the GTR Year: 1989 Model: BNR32 GTR Body: 2 Door Coupe Colour: Pearl Wine Red Engine: 2.6L Twin Turbo, Twin Cam Inline 6 Cylinder (RB26DETT) Transmission: 4WD MT Odometer: 28,000kms (engine specific) Price: $34,000 Neg. with RWC Contact Details: Please PM me for contact details Comments: Below is the modification list along with some history on the car, photos follow afterwards Also I have a host of other parts that are available for purchase with the car or separately. They can be found at the end of this post. :: Engine :: - Brand new R33 RB26DETT N1 Engine, only done around 28,000kms - Brand new R34 N1 Twin Turbos, same mileage as new engine - Greddy adjustable Cam Gears with clear cam gear cover (comes with original cover as well, see pic with extra parts) - Sard 800cc Injectors - HKS Drag Intercooler (600x300x100mm – LxWxD, tube & fin design), 3” Inlet / Outlet - Custom 3” Intercooler Piping - Custom 3.5” mandrel Exhaust System from turbos to 4.5” rear muffler - amazingly subdued off boost but sounds great on full boost, very angry and tough. System is quiet easy on the ears as well with zero drone. - Oil cooler with air guide and remote oil filter for easy replacement - Oil Catch Can - Twin Apexi Pod Filters - Apexi Power FC ECU (tuned by Ben @ Racepace on 20psi = 320awkw ) :: Drive Train / Brakes :: - Standard two piece drive shaft, LSD and 4WD system all very tight and strong – never had any problems running current power for the last 3 years of ownership. - Jim Berry ‘Full Monty’ single plate carbonetic clutch, 3600lbs pressure plate matched to an R31 Fly Wheel – beautiful clutch, never had it slip on me once with current power level and operates almost like a standard clutch in terms of pedal heaviness and driveability in traffic. - VSpec 2 Brembo front callipers with Lockheed rotors and pads, standard rear callipers and rotors / pads – pulls up exceptionally well, feels like your eyeballs will pop out and its still got more in it before the ABS even kicks in! - Teflon braided brake lines :: Suspension / Bracing / Wheels :: - Tein Coilovers, adjustable stiffness and dampening - 11 structural bracing bars: --- 2 Front & Rear Strut Braces --- 1 Interior Cabin Brace (per image) --- 4 Front & Rear Guard Braces (1 under each guard running lengthwise) --- 1 Brace underneath near rear of engine / front of gearbox --- 1 Mid trans tunnel Brace connecting either side of the tunnel --- 2 Rear subframe Braces (1 each side) - Volk Racing CE28N 17x9” Forged Monoblock lightweight Wheels (includes VR Duraluminium wheel nuts and VR valve caps) wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza RE-01 255/40R17 Tyres. This combination of stiffness and grip makes for a very flat and stable cornering attitude with great response from the tyres under braking, cornering and acceleration. :: Exterior / Interior :: - Lightweight fibreglass bonnet - Aerocatch Bonnet Pins (lockable) - N1 Side Skirts & Vents in front bar - Momo ‘Race’ Steering Wheel - GTR carbon fibre Gear Knob - Apexi EL2 Mechanical Boost Gauge - Nismo 320kmph Speedometer - Kenwood CD / MP3 head unit with what looks like standard speakers front & back (they do an alright job to provide some good music but this is not a DB comp. car - the music most of the time is the car itself ) - Fire extinguisher mounted to rear cabin brace - Original Nissan GTR floor mats front & back with the original flare case in the front passengers foot well (flare removed) - Original Nissan GTR front & rear seats in excellent, nearly as new condition - bolsters still all firm & solid, top of rear seats are not faded like nearly all other R32s are. - All dash & trim in excellent condition with all accessories, gauges & lights fully functional - heater & aircon work as good as the day it rolled off the factory floor, only problem is there must be a dry solder inside the climate control unit that causes the display to turn off randomly, a light tap on the front brings it back. It doesn’t effect functionality of the climate control system itself or the manual button controls, it’s a common fault you’ll find in a lot of R32s, easily fixable if you have the time to pull it out and take to an autoelec. :: History :: The car was originally ‘gunmetal grey’ before the owner of it then in Japan did a ground up rebuild of the car in 2004. It was resprayed a metallic factory colour ‘wine red’ but with lots of pearl and the engine bay was sprayed a stark white, maybe to show off the engine or to show up leaks and issues a lot easier…either way you always get asked the question when popping the bonnet “did it use to be white?”. The only place you can still see the original colour is the rear strut towers. This chap worked at Nissan in Japan and so had access to many new parts for the GTR and is why you’ll find a lot of the seals and small plastic parts are like new as well as a lot of engine bay components. Basically from there he dropped in the new motor and turbos with most of the listed supporting mods, the only mods added in Australia were the injectors, adjustable cam gears and the boost gauge. A bloke well known in the NDSOC (Nissan Datsun Sports Owner Club) association imported it for himself in 2005 and owned it for a little over a year, taking it to a few show n’ shines and concourse events, two of which I attended and actually saw and admired it, not thinking at the time I would ever own such an awesome machine let alone that one . While in his possession he added the injectors and cam gears and had it tuned to about 270awkw @ 20psi. I purchased it off of him in 2006 and had owned it for a little while before taking it down to Race Pace as it was getting some injector fuel blow by…turned out the wrong O-rings had been used on installation by the previous owner and the injectors needed to be spaced out from the fuel rail a bit. Some new O-rings and some brass washers with rubber inner linings were used to space the injectors by about 2mm and make them seat properly in the head and the issue was resolved. While I was there I had Ben put it on the dyno for a new tune where it was found the CAS was faulty so a new one was installed and after a couple of hours on the dyno, I drove out with 322awkw (still on 20psi) and that was a safe tune. We worked out it’s about 520HP at the flywheel which I’m happy with as it’s a bit under what an N1 engine is estimated to be cable of handling before needing internal upgrades and so have never pushed it any further. It seems a very streetable power level with the 4WD system and 255 rubber giving great grip and the R34 N1 turbos are very responsive, a combination that nails you to the seat. In the time I have had it, I installed a boost gauge to keep an eye on things, the ’Full Monty’ clutch when the old OS twin plate let go and a clear cam gear cover. I had the clutch installed by Race Pace and also had a check up tune while there, 319.4awkw was the number she pulled and going on the day was a bit warmer than the last tune day it was still making great safe power. I’ve taken it to a couple of shows myself, a highlight being the NDSOC Nationals in 2007 at Phillips Island where I took 2nd place with the GTR in the judged Concourse 1980 - 1989 Modified Class against some stiff competition. It’s latest outing was for an annual Australian 300zx Club cruise this December along the GOR (Great Ocean Road) where it performed admirably and gave me great driving pleasure and satisfaction…a much cherished “last drive” before she’s gone . :: General Info :: - I have always kept it garaged and drive it at most once a week, most outings would see it get a wash (easiest way to keep something clean is not to let it get dirty ). - Fastidiously maintained, never parked at shopping centres or with general cars as it has not one dent. - Oil services have always been done every 5,000kms, quite often less and always with a new filter. - I have a few separate parts such as a roll cage, harnesses, etc. that can be bought together with the car, pictures and pricing can be found after the pictures of the car at the end of this post. Please find the pictures below, I have really focused on what may seem obscure detail in some shots but it is to show the quality and condition the car has been kept in. Cheers! Craig Please Note: The kms shown here like on a lot of imports, are incorrect. The official kms on the engine are 28,000kms and its an 1989 shell. Trophy won at the 2007 Nissan Datsun Sports Nationals First tune by Ben at Race Pace Motorsport on 20psi (green line is the old tune at ~270awkw) Second tune by Ben at Race Pace Motorsport on 20psi (current tune) I didn't realize there was a limit on the amount of images allowed to be posted, below are the ones that won't display. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...3-Interior5.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...3-Interior6.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...3-Interior7.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...3-Interior8.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...3-Interior9.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...-Interior10.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...-Interior11.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...4-DoorJams1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...4-DoorJams2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...4-DoorJams3.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...4-DoorJams4.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...4-DoorJams5.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...4-DoorJams6.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...4-DoorJams7.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...4-DoorJams8.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...e/5-Engine1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...e/5-Engine2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...e/5-Engine3.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...e/5-Engine4.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...e/5-Engine5.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...e/5-Engine6.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...e/5-Engine7.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...e/5-Engine8.jpg These ones are extra shots of the car that I thought looked really good and highlighted the paint work. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...e/6-Extras1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...e/6-Extras2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...e/6-Extras3.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...e/6-Extras4.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...e/6-Extras5.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...e/6-Extras6.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...e/6-Extras7.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Gag...e/6-Extras8.jpg EXTRA PARTS FOR SALE: Brand new TAKATA 6 point harness (x2) Very well known high end racing harness, includes eyelet bolts. 21. It could be the stock pump...never checked...the whole car was rebuilt ground up around 5 years back so it most likely had a new one installed if not an aftermarket one to support the HP they installed the other supporting mods for (sard 800cc injectors) but its pretty quiet so I assumed its a stock one. Would you expect Thanks for the tips on checking the wastegates, will do that ASAP...checking for error codes though will require me getting a hand controller for the apexi power fc which won't be happening for a while ...or do they still have little LEDs on the outside and a screw to turn it into diagnostic mode? Cheers! Craig
  22. - Actually still running the two standard AFMS, never had a prob with them. - Boost controller is just a bleed valve set statically to 20psi. - Checked the blow off valves, they seem to be holding vacuum fine. - Not sure how to check the wastegates, anyone please?? CGB_R32, if you could let me know how you go with the fuel pump and whether it fixes the problem that would be great Cheers! Craig
