R33 Flat Lines Once It Hits Limiter?
SkyHi_33 replied to mr-r33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
You cant be serious dude? The engine has a rev limiter, this limiter is there to protect it from blowing up, once you go PAST this limiter (which can happen in a stock car) the engine goes in to safety mode and cocks out for a moment losing all power. Ideally you should never hold the engine on its limiter no matter how well its built, 95% of engines reach their peak power and torque before the redline anyways as stated above, which means going beyond this is not necessary, however the extra 1,000 or so rpm are there to set you up for the next gear and should be plenty of time to change up. A skilled driver will have no problem with this no matter if youre dropping skids, doing burnouts or spinning out... a trained ear will know how hard the engine is going without looking at the revs and you should then know how to adjust your right foot accordingly. All I can suggest is practice changing up/down within the engines limits (and inside the power band) and soon enough things will just click. If you think otherwise then good luck with future engine repairs... hope that conrod doesnt shoot out between your ears. -

+1 i crack mine open every 5,000kms to check up on em, replace at 10,000kms. better be safe then sorry -
dont go around giving them ideas now. the zx9r looks nice btw, rode one a while back and really liked it, would prefer a zx7r over it though... just felt better to ride as a sports bike. the zx9r was a bit sluggish but it did have a good 60,000kms on it.

Saw a black r34 on Morphet Rd going towards the airport last night 8-9pm. Had a SAU sticker on the drivers side quarter. Looked mean driving through the dark part of the street Oh and a cop showing off the other night... was next to him, then he dropped back about 100m, as i indicated to turn off Marion Rd he absolutely flew past me with no lights/siren then got on the brake. funny kent... i lol'd

Just watched the first one last night, very good coverage but a bit boring imo... bring on coverage of some tight high speed courses. US drift doesn't do it for me personally, love seeing cars flying through technical stuff not 3 lane wide smoke show. Never the less, looking forward to #2 -

if shes a full on vegetarian then i would highly recommend this place http://www.zenhouse.com.au/ Just off rundle st. Been there a few times with a mate who's vegetarian and they have very decent food, meals under $20. The atmosphere is very relaxing and the place is fairly cosy and inviting. Good for a first date, perhaps a bit on the quiet side tho, better have some ideas for conversations.

you can get a cleaning solution from the car shops for the sticky stuff, not sure what its called, haven't used it in a while. as for holes, make a visit to bunnings for some plastic plugs, works a treat
-
cant say this doesnt look tough, just needs a small lip along the bottom of the front bar and a gtr style grille and this one, although its got the 400r bar by the looks of it, probably the only non gtr with one that i dont really mind seeing. i would have gone gtr front bar instead tho

some stuff i got no use for lying around: all from my s1 r33, came off at 111,000kms r33 auto brake pedal assy - $20 r33 auto shifter assy - $20 r33 auto tail shaft - $60 r33 turbo auto plate thingy i forgot what theyre called - $20 r33 automatic trans - $300 111,000kms just serviced at MV Automatics few months back, came up all good, never had any issues with it. Loom and something else has been cut in the process of converting to manual but if you want it as a spare box then just use parts off your original. pm me or txt 0422 314 938

Turbo timers were used on old trucks etc because their turbos work really hard and with the mineral types of oil these machines used, the oil would get overheated inside the turbo lines due to the heat of the turbo itself and harden which means next time you use it the turbo gets no oil and bang. Thing is, this was decades ago and oil technology has changed a lot which means oil does not just harden and clog your turbo lines (providing it is changed when it should be). Turbo timers are fairly pointless around town anyways because you wont be pushing the car near its limits and if you do most of the time you would drive normally for a period of time before you park the car anyways. If you're thrashing the shit out of it, just drive it normally for a few minutes before you park it and it should be perfectly fine.

R33 Auto To Manual Is It Worth It?
SkyHi_33 replied to LeCoq's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
yeh it depends how attached you are to your current car... selling mine and buying a manual one wasn't an option for me because ive already done a heap of suspension and brake upgrades to it and spent many long hours working on it, so wasnt worth pulling it all out and repeating the process on another car. good luck with your decision tho! i think you will find that the 180sx is a lot more sportier and agile to the skyline but you will miss the comfortable interior and the inline 6 torque -
he said it was a 24hr permit to drive the car to us... but as far as the actual conditions of it go i wouldn't know as we didn't check for sure.
