You want to listen to the radio?
I haven't even tuned in a radio station after a battery disconnection about 10 years ago. There's nothing worth listening to on the radio.
Not really, but I just like stuff on my car to work ...
-
Thanks,
I was in the car wash and forgot about the antenna ... 😅
It got bent so I was looking into a replacement.
However I got lucky and could make it work again.
-
I'm looking into replacing the antenna mast on my R33S2.
Nothing to be found on EBay ...
Is there a replacement from another Nissan that would fit?
-
Hello,
Thanks for the input.
I also saw the 4075-1S listed as R33GTST bearing
https://koyo.jtekt.co.jp/en/products/detail/?pno=RCT4075-1S
Here's the 40SA3
https://koyo.jtekt.co.jp/en/products/detail/?pno=RCT40SA3
Major difference seems to be 'd' which is 74.5mm vs 82.2mm
Too bad I don't have an old bearing / carrier to check.
-
Thanks for the input, it's not a lot of $$$ and my only concern was that the throw at the release bearing end would be different compared to the OEM setup.
I think they used the shortened pivot ball to get the travel right.
This is for an R33GTST .. and after 25 years a refresh wouldn't hurt.
-
Cheers,
The clutch isn't overly heavy (OSG TWIN) but looking at the machined pivot engagement point I thought it might be a more precise setup for the clutch...
-
I'm about to change my clutch and came across this upgraded clutch fork kit:
Would that be something to consider while the clutch is out or waste of $$?
Thanks

Hi,
Yes, thanks for the input.
I'm more than happy to buy from NSK or NTN or SKF.
It would help if I had the OEM dimensions but according to SKF I might have found something using

Hi,
The situation is that I need the standard OEM release bearing for the standard clutch ...
-
I'm trying to order the release bearing, the part number seems to be 30502-69F10 (?)
Nengun says it is no longer available.

1997 GTSTS2
Is there a replacement part # ?
Cheers

Ordered heaps of gear through these guys over the years. Never a problem.
Cheers ... I usually ordered through Nengun or RHD but Greenline is substantially cheaper on an OSG clutch service kit I need.
I popped them an EMail for a quote.

Hello,
Has anyone experience ordering from
They're offering quite competitive prices but I've never ordered from them ..
Cheers

Thanks for the feedback ..
My car makes about 320kw at the engine .. and at the moment I have a OSG Twin installed.
Now after 13,000km it started slipping in 4th/5th. I think the stop and go traffic killed it since the plates are worn.
In an EMail OSG said the clutch is more geared towards harsh engagement and would wear used 'normal'
The OSG refresh kit would cost me around GBP 450 plus (taxes, postages etc)
The Nismo Single GBP 710, the Nismo Twin GBP 1,140 (all plus)
That's why I was thinking just getting the single to get a bit more life out of the clutch.
I also never liked the rattle of the OSG twin.
On the other hand just buying the refresh kit would be the cheapest option.

380kwatw in my old 33 GTST with the nismo coppermix
Held fine
The gearbox on the other hand, well, it was fine for cruising around, but with sticky tyres they didn't last long if you were actually using the power
Start budgeting for a better transmission if you plan on "using" the power
Thanks,
was that the single or twin?
-
Has anyone experience as to how much power the Nismo Single can actually hold?
Thanks

I mean go for it if you feel like starting with a brand new box with the updated and more reliable 3rd/4th synchro setup.
Your wiring noise just sounds like how they become after the gear mesh wears over time, not necessarily any particular worn bearing.
Ahh .. OK .. it's a permanent sound, not dependent on gear selection. Sometimes it's almost gone (wishful thinking)
Earlier I found brass shavings in the oil. (actually the oil was slightly laced with brass particles)
I refilled with the OEM Oil which seemed to work fine.
The 3rd->4th reluctance / crunch is annoying. Especially under higher revs.
A gearbox refresh might be expensive and time consuming, that's why I thought of just biting the bullet and getting a brand new R34 unit.
I think the 'conversion' to push is quite simple ... there are even markings in the cast for the R33 slave I heard.
-
Hello,
As per title.
I'm driving an S2 GTST and the gearbox makes a slight whining noise in all gears - so possibly one of the shaft bearings(?)
Shifting is actually ok, except for 3rd to 4th which doesn't like swift changes.
I'm considering buying a brand new R34GTT gearbox and convert it from pull to push and sell of my old box.
My question:
Are the R34GTT boxes improved compared to the R33 ones?
-
Ok, thanks ... I'll open a separate thread on my question.
-
Just wondering, what is a 'big box' ?
Cheers

Not the whole lot as Xclutch and NPC are Australian. Also RHDjapan will beat Nengun on delivered price everytime if ordering from Japan - check them out.
Yes, thanks ... I bought from both of them and always compare ..
RHD is also 'helpful' with the customs declaration.

Definitely agree the Nismo coppermix twin range drives very nicely and is more than enough for a lot of people's needs.
We do have better singles available locally here than the UK though. NPC and Xclutch have singles that will happily take 400kw + at the wheels, which is why I find it ridiculous with OS giken single and twin clutches and how piss weak they are. This is mainly down to having a very light clamping load with their flimsy front cover and pressure plate.
The only decent clutch they make is the R3C and R4C, which is not the sort of clutch you want in a daily driver.
I'm going to order from Japan anyhow so I've got access to the whole lot.

I don't think you can treat a website rating as a guarantee, after all it is torque that challenges a clutch's holding ability not power.
I am running a nismo coppermx twin in my 400awkw stagea with no issues.
Yes, thanks! Couldn't agree more .. not all manufacturers give a torque rating though.
I asked OSG about the rated torque and they wrote back that they don't give that figure (only power)
How's the pedal feel on the NISMO Twin?

Not the 400ps at engine garbage, only the competition version if Nismo.
You want headroom and ease of use get an ATS carbon twin, you'll NEVER wear that out at your power level - they're 650 - 850 wheel hp rated. Even the ATS spec 1 carbon triple drives better than a TS2 and starts at 1000 wheel hp, but again $$$.
ATS really is on another level compared to everything mentioned.
Well, I'm at around 450ish hp at the crank. That's 335KW, so the clutch should ideally hold 550+ (410KW)
My main grief with the STR is that that plates are worn just after 13,000km. I suppose that driving 70% of the mileage in traffic killed it ..
Here's OSG's response
If your vehicle's power is under the clutch max capacity, then it is often caused by driving too gently on the clutch.
Our clutches were mostly designed for aggressive use in mind, and it is better to be used somewhat rough on occasions.

The TS clutch is the superior clutch to the STR, but in reality they're both pretty shit (on a GTR anyway, a TS2 doesn't last) - there are way better alternatives from Exedy, ORC, hell even a Nismo Coppermax will be miles better to use and last.
If you want it to last ages and be easy to use - carbon twin or triple ATS, but pricey.
Can you get Xclutch twins where you are ? Extremely good value for money with their twins, especially the carbons.
Cheers ... I'll check the options you've mentioned.
Do you mean the Nismo Coppermix? They rate it @ 309KW / 420HP .. but that seem to be @ the crank(?) ... and would leave me no headroom
