  1. WHAT DO I NEED? Fire extinguisher: This is the trickiest bit, due to installation. $30 from Autobarn (or similar). There's some threads around where people have mounted their extinguisher under the back seat; pictures in THIS LINK DOWN BELOW CLICK CLICK CLICK phew Helmet: I bought my helmet from a guy on eBay, and I know there's a few more out there who've done the same thing. The helmet has to comply to the 1698AS/NZ regulation, and these do. Posted, they're around $90 from memory. If you want another visor too, the dark tinted ones are good. http://shop.ebay.com...=&_trksid=p3686 His measurements are pretty right (in terms of, get something, wrap it around your head above your ears, voila). Alternatively, if you're near an MCAS (mcas.com.au), they also have some pretty cheap helmets. Some people prefer open-face helmets for Texi, some prefer closed. Up to you, in the end. CAMS/ASAA License: This is absolutely necessary. Basically it's a license to say that you're going to compete in an event, etc. Think of it as how fishers need a fishing license. You can pre-download the forms from: Check the first post for updated links. By filling it out prior to attending, it makes things that much quicker. Much appreciated by the execs! IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED? Not NEED as such, but on the day, sometimes we have a few photographers and videographers, and in the weeks following the texi, compile all the photos and videos they've taken, and send them out on DVDs to the people who've ordered them. The DVDs cost $25 (from memory?) last time, and are chock-full of stuff from the day. While not exclusively of your car, there'll be plenty in there, and the work that the guys do is just amazing. For examples of the photography work, see: http://mattheweverin....com/?page_id=6 http://www.koryleung...lleryindex.html You can also rent one of three Go-Pros that SAUNSW has purchased, but keep in mind these go fast. Rental for the day is $35, IIRC, and includes instruction, and then the DVD with all the movies mailed out to you. Sometimes these might not be available - If you're unsure, ask on the day.
  2. So you've never done Texi before? Welcome to your new addiction. To start with, have a look at this video, it'll show you what happens there before I get started with the loooong bunch of reading. <3 to Eric for his hard work on this. Firstly, location: This carpark and pad. Zoom out to work out how to get there. Before I start this long read, MASSIVE ups to everyone who makes these events happen, to the photographers/videographers (Matt, Kory, Eric, and I'm not sure who the other guy was, sorry!), and everyone who comes for making it a fun day every time. Onwards! This is everything you'll need to come along and have fun. The initial setup needed for doing Texikhanas is as follows, with some rough pricing included. Fire extinguisher: $30 Helmet: $100 (approx) CAMS/ASAA license: $50 (approx) Event itself: $55 or 75 (this changes every now and then; our costs keep rising ) These will be covered below. If you're not a member of SAU, you can sign up on the day for $60 (renewal is $40, yearly); membership is on a prorata basis from June-June. You get a $20 discount at all Texikhana events, discounts on merchandise, and an extra forum where all the cool kids hang out. There's also benefits of membership such as deals on Fenix Radiators and Federal Tyres. So if you're coming to multiple texis, it will pay for itself! If you wanna join, the form is attached to this post. Just fill it out and bring on the day! </plug>AASA License.pdf CAMS Forms.pdf SAUNSW membership.pdf
  3. I'll try and finalise my massive post and get it up in the events section. I'm not sure if I'll be attending though Gotta check finances.
  4. 40ppp also: good choice; the ladies vs bogan douchebags isn't a hard choice
  5. (dammit i came back to see the replies) yeah, i'd love to see the cars, just can't deal with the bogans. they make me want to murder the whole world.
  6. so i'll be leaving this thread till page 3 there's few things in this world i hate as much as summernats. not because of the cars, just the people. nuclear ordinance could be dropped on it and i would not feel a thing. humanity wins.
  7. Ah, wasn't aware
  8. Not to be negative at all; I don't understand the link between planes and cars? Unless we race them? *scratches head*
  9. Thanks for PMs, potentially sold (pending meet/inspection)!
  10. I noticed this too... only just on the first one I think?
  11. Absolutely. We don't tolerate any "street-racer" shit here, we enjoy our cars on the road simply by driving them. Wanna go fast? We go to texi/Wakey/wherever. (We do our best to weed out the idiots )
  12. Oooh forgot to post I got mine yesterday too <3 you guys
  13. Yeps, was randomly browsing. Was trying to get an update on the whole Powerchip thing (court order, but Besanko has already breached the terms of it, so meh).
  14. I heard from Ruxis that his mum works with this guy's mum... He's got/had a pregnant girlfriend and a mortgage on a house... Apparently he always drove fast/recklessly. Ruining the people who are left behind's lives for what? No good reason. It's tragic, but it's more tragic that people think they can just do this kind of thing and not have bad things happen. We all have to learn we're not invincible.
  15. So all you cop-bashers out there can just stfu Sorry to hear that Matt; I didn't know that's how your dad got injured
  16. not a photo but semirelated
  17. Paraphrasing the other thread, P-Plater, you're at fault? Sucks though. Also sucks that I had to pay more for CTP this time because "your car is getting older and it's not as safe". GTFO my brakes and suspension are better than they were last year, and it's 1000000x better than a stock VR commodore. (rant over)
  18. HOLY SHIT I NEED THAT IRON MAN MASK WITH GLOWING EYES
  19. Sigh, home too late today. Will do my best ASAP to show condition of plug. Thanks for the kind words Matt! Hope someone can use this. Example of boost control page in software (yes that's a fecking RIDICULOUS amount of information):
  20. Possible in? Games: http://www.steamcalculator.com/id/owe84n
  21. The what? Most everyone around was standing still; small amount of people in the area I was in. Hard ground, too. But thanks :3 Starting to think about the 24-105...
  22. Hi guys, ITEM: Adaptronic E1280S ECU. I've been running this in my car, but unfortunately I need cash more than a car with an aftermarket ECU. I'll include the 3-bar MAP sensor this comes with too, I'll take photos of the wiring needed to hook this up. The connector that goes into the MAP sensor is a bit beat-up, but when it's plugged in it's solid. Pics to come when I get home from work. Link to Adaptronic's page: http://adaptronic.com.au/products/e1280s.html <----- This has all the information needed about what this ECU can do. I'm after $1100 ono for both ECU and MAP sensor. Bought new, this will set you back $2078. Was running 202.1rwkw on my R33 GTS-T, 10psi using Apexi AVC-R, exhaust, FMIC, and Bosch 040 FP. Nothing special. To give you an idea of what it looks like for now though: As you can see, it has a direct R33 GTS-T plug-in for the ECU loom. I'm not sure what other Skylines use this loom (I guess a fair few?), but Adaptronic have loom plugs here: http://adaptronic.com.au/products.html?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage_new.tpl&product_id=39&category_id=4 I'm located in Wollongong, NSW and work in Sydney, but can ship nationally. If sold for $1100 I'll throw in registered shipping (and email you a photo of it all packaged up ready to be sent at the post office), if less then I'll pay for some of the shipping (so it might cost you $10 shipping or something). The ECU pictured there is the newer revision. As mine is the original revision, I'll update the firmware to the latest version, and include the software needed to tune this (and any emails/instructions I can find from Rob and Andy at Adaptronic with hints and instructions) on a flash drive. I HIGHLY recommend this is tuned and installed at the same time; it runs on my car, but as we all know, all cars are different, and can be quite picky about their tune. I believe Unigroup in NSW tune Adaptronics (although I could be wrong, feel free to correct me if I am), and I know MRC in Castle Hill do too. I'm contactable via PM at the moment, not really able to answer the phone during work hours, and 4 hours of travel on a train each day with iffy reception makes my mobile a bit of a bad idea. If you're genuinely interested, PM me your number and I can call you, if you like. Please, no lowballers. You're wasting your time, and mine. I'm negotiable, but not to a huge extent. I don't NEED this gone, would just help a lot. Andy and Rob: If you come across this, please don't take any of this as a negative towards your product; far from it! It's been a fantastic ECU to drive with, I've just hit a rough patch and it's unfortunately towards the top of the list of things that can go without impacting on life too much
  23. Can we get some Google Maps happening? Not sure where the first location is. Also, try and work on figuring out some times; eg. meet at meeting location at x, leave at y on the dot, get to dam at z. That way if I feel lazy I can just meet you guys there edit: i assume this is the meet? that carpark? .....as for the destination... i'm ashamed to admit, but my google maps power has failed me
  24. ta, towards the end of the worx I just went nuts and kept pressing the button really gotta get a remote though; a fair few are buggered up cause i got a bit jittery as i was pressing it even though I had my tripod secured. Ah well, not bad for first time shooting fireworks, I guess.
