  1. I've got a copy of test software (from the developer) of just the HICAS part of the Conzult software so I could test it on my R34 GTT, but it wouldn't work to my dismay... (wouldn't even initialise the SHICAS ECU)
  2. On a related note, anyone know how you get access to the members-only stuff? I'm a member, but don't seem to see anything special
  3. Wow, which software is that? Sounds like it must be CONSULT2 compatible to hook into the ancillary ECUs - unless its just OBD2? Generally speaking most of the software out there (non-commercial) will only do CONSULT1 which is fairly limited in what it can talk to and do. On most cars I've played with on CONSULT there are quite a few other ECUs available via the bus, but require you to use the CONSULT2 protocol, which isn't very well documented (if at all). When you do an initial query, it'll list all of the ECUs you can talk to... (Seem to recall 'EF' is the main ECU, but there's also stuff like SRS, TCS/ABS/HICAS, AT, etc)... Anyways
  4. Weird people are getting knocked back about 'not being an enthusiast'. When I called up, they asked if I read car magazines, was into cars etc - and accepted that happily for the insurance for my R34 GTT without question ...
  5. Hugely old thread, and I don't care - I can't find anything else on this topic for us R34 sedan owners. I learn't a few things in my efforts tonight, which may help someone in future: i) An R34 coupe wing is not a direct bolt-on to an R34 sedan - the rear bolt hole is in a slightly different location, but otherwise fits quite well ii) The R34 sedan wings are a bitch to get off, with a tonne of double-sided tape, and some evil lugs at the back which you have to try and undo (which in my case snapped on one side because it just refused to come out) On the positive side, I'm very happy with the results - slightly more aggressive without being stupidly big. I also still think it suits the lines of the car. ( After on the left, Before on the right )
  6. Weird, wonder why they're use a different setup to R34 (or even auto to manual stagea). That'd require a different wastegate actuator to run the 7psi all the time, etc wouldn't it? .. Unless they just bleed 2psi, but that just seems a bit silly ...
  7. Are there any hard intake pipes available that will still mate up to the factory airbox, or am I best to look at something custom-made?
  8. I think that's probably my real big frustration with HPI to be honest. I read articles about stuff and sometimes it's very much 'huh!? what are they talking about' and then realise it's about something that occured 6-9+ months ago - and it's only now that they're finally through to publishing stuff about it. It really doesn't give the magazine a very up-to-date feel. Does anyone know if there's any plans to try and improve that? I've been a long-time subscriber of many years, and I love HPI (and Zoom) but yeah - frustrates the hell out of me with the 'lag' in the publishing...
  9. I initially built mine a little over 2 years ago with 1.5TB, and then upgraded within 12 months to 3.5TB figuring I'd get two years out of it.... Unfortunately - no - almost exactly one year after that I'm starting to worry about running out. So yeah - hopefully the next expansion to gain another 3TB will give me another year - especially given the increase in size of media files .. At least after the next upgrade it'll be a simple case of buying individual disks to get a further 1.5TB each time - which will make it more cost effective. Yeah - I'm right at the bottom of a hill with a tonne of trees all around, not a great place to be for hopping onto a community wireless network! I have to settle on my ADSL2+ - just wish it was cheaper and let me download more!
  10. Unfortunately not - I'm in a location that I suspect would be very bad to get onto air-stream. Trying to engage them to investigate options seems like a headache and very difficult to get much information from - I gave up pushing much further (all too hard). You?
  11. It doesn't seem like much storage at all - I've got 300GB left - which is why the plans to expand out to 6.5TB (with provision to easily and cheaply expand to a whole lot more). It's taken up by .. backups .. of my DVDs/etc *cough* ... As everything has moved towards higher qualities, 720p/1080p has really destroyed my available space .. it's frustrating - but what can you do?
  12. I'm using a FreeBSD system in an Antec Sonata 3, but I'm currently in the middle of doing major upgrades. Current configuration uses a 500GB sata boot disk, and 8 x 500GB sata boot disks hanging off a Highpoint RAID card (in RAID5). I'm using a Gigabyte EP45-DS4 motherboard (one of the few motherboards I could find with multiple x4 and/or x8 so I can run RAID cards). It has 4gb of RAM and an E4600 CPU. It runs really well with 3.5TB available from the 8 disks. My current upgrade plans that are in the pipeline are to push this current machine from the Antec Sonata 3 into an Antec 1200 case with a CP-850 PSU and adding a second Highpoint RAID card, and 3 x 1.5TB disks. This will push my available storage up to 6.5TB usable over two volumes. With the online RAID5 expansion I'll be able to add more 1.5TB disks as my space requirements grow. The Antec 1200 case should give room for 15 data drives, so with 8x500GB and 7x1.5TB that's about 12.5TB (rounding close enough for disk sizing). Hopefully that should cover me for the foreseeable future. I also have the fileserver plugged into a reasonably beefy APC UPS to avoid any issues with the RAID being shut down unexpectantly, and some external ESATA disks for backup, though I'm investigating options for a multi-lane hot-swap 4 port ESATA for dedicated backups. (Something a lot of people seem to forget with a home NAS). My network runs on gigabit ethernet with an 8 port gigabit switch. I retired my cisco switches when I found that 100mbps wasn't really adequate for moving data around to the HTPCs in the bedroom/loungeroom. Gawd .. I'm probably sounding awfully geeky about now.
  13. Personal import or under the 15 year rule?
  14. I'm in for option 1 if I hear back about the p&h thing .. I'm in Adelaide, and happy to go for a hike out to see them to get it done in person if that suits (saves me taking the car off the road ) .. anyways, looking forward to hear back
  15. Interested, but wondering if we can avoid the p&h charges and take our cars to the Nistune guys directly to get this done? (I'm in Adelaide. I believe the nistune people are too?)
  16. But won't somebody please .. think of the CHILDREN. *eyeroll* .. it's sensationalist reporting and crazies coming out of the woodwork purporting this is new and 'omg how terrible is this' that is wrong with society these days. Stab 'em all.
  17. The eyelids almost make me think that the car should be in the band KISS ...
  18. I used brasso on my R34 headlights, havent had any yellowing come back yet (*knock wood*) - it's been a few months now.
  19. Yah, tis a nismo logbook; Was looking at this and the similar Nissan branded one - figured I'd go nismo one. I have a similar style of thing that came with my Nissan Pulsar N14 SSS that I keep all the papers, rego details, receipts, etc in - wanted something for the R34 because I'm sick of stuff going missing and the glovebox looking a mess of papers! .. Wasn't that expensive and wanted a replacement factory gearknob anyway so figured 'what the hell' to get that on top ..
  20. I've done a search and a quick poke through this thread, but I can't seem to see my answer. Can anyone confirm the part # for a genuine Nissan R34 GTT gearknob? It's a 32865-? .. wondering if its the 17U00 same as the R32/33 GTR or different.... Does anyone know? Does Nissan FAST have this level of detail? Thanks in advance.
  21. Ahhh finally parts from Japan arrived .. nothing as exciting as most of you lot - turbos n what .. but still .. I like it .. lol ..
  22. R34's have a reversing beeper now? .. wtf .. mine doesn't .. :S ..
  23. Doesn't the ECU ignore the O2 sensor at wide-open-throttle and revert to standard uncorrected maps anyway?
  24. Whilst I'd originally read that the Avo would fit without cutting the reo, their response indicated no. I'd also heard rumours / forum posts of the same with regards to the Blitz and Trust options ... but then other people say no.. I'm honestly getting the impression there isn't a single front-mount intercooler on the market (obviously there's always the custom approach) that will fit back to factory pipes and not require reo cutting. Given the insurance / defect issues with cutting the reo, I'm both stunned and frustrated by the situation. Is it such a big thing to ask for?
  25. Will the Blitz fit without cutting the front reo?
