  2. LOL at Dezz - jilted Ferrari fan. Don't worry they will win again and you will love F1 again. Might be waiting some time though.....
  3. Intima SR pads - very good pads for sprints and track days. Excellent value, they are rated to 650 degrees and were kind to my DBA rotors. I got around 4-5 events out of them. Car is an S13 Silvia, 1070kg and 230kw's@wheels. I recently upgraded to the Type D pads which are rated to 850 degrees. After switching to E85 and retune up to 255kw's@wheels I was thinking I might be arriving at corners a little quicker now and thought I'd go the more aggressive pad. The Type D pads were $200 for the front pair.
  4. Audi use Castrol lubricants, shouldn't be too over the top.
  5. It's funny because it's so true!! You said exactly what I was thinking Fatz!!! haha! Legend!
  6. Does anyone want to guess how many Emo's where entered out of the 87 entrants at WTAC? 30!!! That's 34% of the field!!!
  7. For the record, I don't agree with clubsprint cars running front splitters, canards, diffusers and wheel arch flares etc. However, WTAC/Superlap did and has always stated that entry/submission to the event is at the discretion of the organisers. Covering them for any car they want to compete but doesn't really fit the rules. Whilst this rule or disclaimer remains, you will always get cars that don't comply entering and competing. As a spectator, I and alot of others want to see wild stupid fast cars. But hey for Clubsprint the rules should be tightly enforced. WTAC is a great spectacle, and it reminds me of a quote from Chopper, "Never let the truth get in the way of a good story!"
  8. Just watched it now. Looks wicked! Can't wait to try it out! Link here:
  9. On the MX5 I reckon you would be able to do 10 quick laps with the V710's. I was worried about running the V710 on a wet track also, but luckily last year I didn't get a wet event all year. You could alway bolt on a set of street tyres if it rains.
  10. I was talking about the V710's being good for 5 laps. Very consistent over 5 laps. 1st lap is just as fast as the 5th lap.
  11. V710's are awesome. Best bang for buck and at just over $1000 even better value. DO IT! You won't regret it. I actually got 9 supersprint events out of 1 set. Only on the 9th event did the lap times drop off. They still have life in them, just not as fast anymore. On your light MX5 they will transform the car and you may get more life out of them. Also against full slicks, they heat up quicker and you go faster sooner. Good for 5 laps but they can over heat if punished for longer. Just remember they are designed as a autocross/sprint tyre.
  12. Yes Chris. Entries are still open to non-registered competitors. Entry form found here: http://www.supersprints.com.au/forms/entry/R1%20Entry%20Form.pdf
  13. I've registered again for this year. I've competed for 3 years now and it's a great competition and I've made lots of friends. I don't think I'll be able to commit to doing every round like I did last year, but I'm hoping to do at least half of them. One thing I am worried about though is the track progress (or lack of) at Eastern Creek. With all this rain they have been delayed alot. Not sure if they will have the South Circuit finished in time for some of the scheduled events. Heard a rumour the track work won't be finished until later this year like Aug-Sept.
  14. ^^ Nice wheel lift in the last photo Chris! You car seems better set up handling wise than the Pug behind you. Did you leave him/her in your dust?
  15. +1 Well said, totally agree.
  16. Is that humble pie you are eating now Harry?
  17. 10 supersprints in 2011 between Jan and Nov. Very happy to get such high usage out of my track only S13. Stoke that I set new PB's at every event except 1. Sucks that is was only at 2 racetracks - EC and Wakie being the only 2 race circuits in NSW now! 2012 I've promised myself to do at least 1 trip to Vic (Winton or P.I) just for a change of scenery.
  18. ^^ + 1 for the Ford Falcon Wagon. I went for dedicated LPG as well cause I'm cheap!! So economical it's not funny (even when towing)
  19. Agree with Evil-weevil as well. Harry - you need to take a chill pill. Getting all worked up over an event you didn't even attend lol! You're funny as. Supersprints aren't for road cars anymore, get over it. The rule/regs allow for unregistered cars to compete. If you want to compete against road cars only, maybe you need to find an event that only allows road registered cars entry. Also, why can't someone go and buy a radical/open wheeler/V8Supercar or sports sedan and enter in sprints? You might be thinking "why would they bother?" Maybe they like the style of event and don't want to go door to door racing, who knows? It's still an achievement for them personally if they beat their PB or set new PB's for the car. It's a free country, they are free to enter the competition, so suck it up princess and move along!
  20. Not necessarily. It goes both ways. Slower cars are affected by having to deal with faster cars also. Also they group you with similiar paced cars so there is less chance of catching each other. You seem to think these events are made up of slow cars and people that love calculators but you are wrong. I've had friends set PB's at regularity events. It's quite a skill being able to lap within 1/2 second (or less) for 5 sessions. Something that I know most professional race drivers and teams hold in high regard.
  21. You've been watching too much Top Gear! You CAN go as fast as you want, or whatever pace suits you. That's the beauty of it. It's less complicated and more fun than you think. 1. Nominate a lap time. 2. Go out and try to acheive that nominated time every lap (as best or as close too). That's it!
  22. Regularity is quite a cool competition to hone your driving skills to become more consistent lap after lap. Not a bad alternative to supersprints and the like. You still get to go as fast as you want, just be consistent. Don't have to be old like Harry to be interested in them
  23. I guess the organisers think it sounds better with "super" in front of the word sprint! lol who knows? Maybe they think the two definitions are close enough to be interchangable. The definition of a lap dash/sprint says "single car speed event" and of a supersprint says "a multi-car speed event similiar to a lapdash". I take that as a lap dash/sprint event being only one car on the track at a time. Our events in NSW have up to 10 cars on track at any one time. It says in the regs "Cars will be started in pairs; the number of pairs will be 8 for orange and green groups and 10 for all other colour groups". To me that fits the description of a multi-car speed event and not a single car speed event. Really we are just splitting hairs here aren't we? I think they (CAMS, State Organisers) should sort out the class categories so that vehicles are more closely matched/grouped. That is the real challenge and more of a priority than the event format. Anyway, I'm keen to do some MRA events and maybe IRACE next year and do some proper racing.
  24. I like the NSW Sprint format. You don't have the strain on the drivetrain by launching from a standstill. You have a good amount of time to warm up the tyres and brakes before your timed lap starts. There is a good opportunity to space yourself with the other car you are released with to ensure you both get some good clean laps without affecting your lap time. Sessions and groups flow quickly as you don't have to wait for cars to "grid up" on the circuit. That said, I wouldn't mind trying the other format of gridding up and starting with another car and the timing starts from the get go. Adds another dimension to it all and something different. I agree that there should be a national set of rules/format for a national event, but it's hard when all the states run different rules/formats. As far as classes go - they suck! I had to run in Sports Sedans when I have a full chassis silvia with 200kw and semi slicks. My only other choice was to fit a turbo restictor and make some other suspension changes to run in improved production. But meh... I'm not fussed as I'm pretty competitive and not many restrictions. We don't have the likes of Hossack or Riccardello turning up to our events, as they have bigger and better (televised) events to attend. Sports sedans at this level is usually a bunch of guys like me that work/modify their own car and try to go as fast as you can on a budget. I'm looking forward to the 12/13th of November as it will be the first 2 day event for me and probably one of the last times we could get a run at the "old" Eastern Creek circuit.
  25. Schui & Nico at the Ring in a classic W196 - streamline body and open wheel version respectively. Timeless.
