You had to take it too literally didn't ya? 🤦‍♂️

The turbo is 100% a critical part as it determines the powerband of your engine, the drivability of the car, but its also a critical part that determines the engines reliability/longevity.

If turbos are an afterthought does that mean if you build your motor  you can just bolt on 1300hp turbo onto the side of it? None of the other internal components need to be a little different?

    Pretty dumb huh? 🤔

people like that never get it, never will.

Cobb can be custom tuned. The ecutek I've come across in the past on other platforms have been not that great and removed to reflash factory ecu with better results.

This is not quite accurate, we are tuners of both and the ECUTEK offers more flexibility, i think your confusion may have come from the fact there was a few places doing OTS tunes like cobb and TBH i have never seen an OTS tune on any platform that is any good.

Custom tuning or nothing in my opinion.

the main issues i had was that i could never get good flow. i always had trouble bleeding it. it was setup correctly.

in the end i put my normal factory bleed point back in, simplified my cooling system and have never looked back.

i will get some pics up soon. sorry, been busy with work and the hi-tec drift all stars series.

odd, i always have the opposite experience we can often fix issues by fitting them. All our track customers use them, our nascar engines also have them std.

This car was fitted with one 8odd years back and will do 45min plus track sessions flat out anywhere...

OK, let's be clear.  The Nissan ECUs of that era are (almost all) EEPROM based, so you can burn new EEPROMs and jam them in there.  But these days we just install a Nistune daughterboard which makes the ECU fully programmable.  Originally this was about as good as PowerFC + a little bit.  These days Nistune is much better even than that.

But you still don't need to be doing even that.

not on a r34 GTR ecu, no nistune support. i have a few jap ones here that are but its a big job and a pfc is cheaper as a tuned job.

For f**ks sake, I've just put Yaris coils on mine that I purchased from Goleby's. The didn't come in OEM Toyota boxes so now I suspect that they'll be fakes.

What dwell times are you using Trent?

these are where alot of the replicas ive seen (and other reputable shops) are from.

If you check out the link below you will see some big name shops having the same dramas. Click on the comments icon and it will open the conversation.

Go see Protek Automotive they designed there own and can fit an tune correctly.

factory CAS are ribbish if your trying to use them on anything but stock ecu or PFC. for some reason the Pfc can just read the factory CAS without issues.

what happens is the factory CAS gets interference at high rpm on other ecu’s and we have seen 10deg in timing jump while running with a scope at high rpm. This is not something your normal tuner or mechanic can see or do, you would be shocked at some big name tunners actually take the customers cars to Dom at Protek Automotive for these kits.

Dom has been doing trigger kits and works directly with haltech and link to put in custom peramitors into the ecu to actually read the trigger kits correctly. Unles your tunner has a scope and has done it before don’t waste your time.

    Hope this helps

very similar to others on the market.

cons = poor designs can cause belt alignment issues for ones mounted to timing gear, have to pull balancer (balancer bolt on a RB26 is a prick of a thing at 446nm), timing belt, timing gear etc to install.

    pros = everything else

can use an AEM 24+1 cas disk in the stock optical cas if you want the stock look, and only use the cam reset signal on the inner sensor. platinum sell crank only kits if you want to save a few bucks.

these AEM wheels are junk, same scatter as stock. Ive pulled about 5 out.

Sorry, you're right, was thinking Denso and having had the same argument elsewhere over the truck coils the other day, have OEM name confusion to add to my other problems.

There is a way to buy proper Denso product.  Go to a proper vendor, not eBay et al.

yeah problem is even the most popular vendors are selling copies.... you will see that in the post i linked earlier. ive tried 3 reputable vendors and all are selling copies dressed as genuine.

Well, it goes without saying that you want genuine Delco.  Otherwise it's no different to putting yellowjackets on.

    DENSO...

Problem is they all are exact copies including the toyota part numbers and DENSO markings..so there is no way to tell.... tested spark energy is not much better than spltfires anyway...

  10. all the tuning is done in the following table so you actually dont really need the data, i've had to make dozens of maf curves from scratch as we mix and match housings and cooler pipe sizes on a weekly basis.

Most people forget that with powerFC the FUEL table is only a target AF table and should not need "TUNING" (Fill in your taget afs in the INJMAP table then tune in the AIR FLOW CURVE table)
