  1. bedding an engine in on the dyno is very common. saves allot of F**king around on the street.
  2. they are the pistons i was referring too before. which cp pistons would you go with? i take it 9 1 compression is ok judging by your build. what turbo are you running? i was thinking of gt35r from what i'v read. or a t04z
  3. i'm no eert but i think 9 7 is getting pretty high. sure someone with a bit of knowledge will shed some light anyway.
  4. would running a gt35r @ 9 compression ratio be safe? or would 8 5 be better?
  5. what did you do to it? forgies, rods? what comp did you go for.
  6. all seems clear now! thanks for the info
  7. how do yu know if your rb30e block is short or long? is there an easy way to tell?
  8. which pistons allow the 9.1 ratio? are they aftermarket items and forged or is it out of a 25na or 25t? wasn't gonna bother with touching the bottom but i will if i have to. 8.3 comp means i have too....
  9. imo this car looks nice and all. may or may not hold the nurberg record for 'production' cars. but at the end of the day weight is the major factor. this car will have lots of power and performance for a 'production' car. what interests me more is how this engine will fare for aftermarket upgrades - will it even be able to hold the same hp as the old RB???? really not so sure on that one. will look and feel great but wont ever be the toughest street or track car out there from the range currently available. plus imo, you can't beat manual. 1/2 a second quicker changes????? a lazy man changing gear maybe? if you want no stall then you don't need your clutch and you can't beat the selection from a manual- unles thisnew gearbox has some really fancy shit and knows what corner lies ahead before you get there...
  10. citrus cleaner followed by penetrant oil to make sure it don't rust while you have things in the open.
  11. umn so how do i get a compression ratio of 9 instead of 8.3...... i'm sure it's in there but i stopped reading at page 23... i read that using the N/A head will give me compression of 9? how is that so? the n/a head gasket????? much appreciated. i'v got an rb30 with only 105,000k's and intend to drop a 25 straight on. looking for about 500hp. if it blows up il put another bottom on!
  12. always premium. although this week i happened to get some AVGAS for free... about 25l. lol. so that went in my tank which mixed with 10litres of premium. better stuff
  13. if there was no smoke then there is no worries! it's when smoke pours out the back with the same characteristics as what you described becomes a problem.... new turbo gasket then.
  14. where abouts are you located? i didn't pick it up. also do you have any full view pics of the car?
  15. That's right mate. 'consumer rights' is the phrase i believe. If you have a receipt of the plenum then you're set. When you buy this product you expect it to be in at least reasonable working order. and free from workmanship defects. the plenum was sold as a plenum to fit an RB25 and do it's job(regardless of the material used to make it, or the finish) . air and water galleries basically connecting were not part of the deal and means you've got a lemon. if you don't receive a reply from the seller within 30 days then you can contact consumer affairs i think and have them address the problem. Either way it's not as others have pointed out "buy a cheap plenum and accept this problem bla bla" BS. unless it was sold on ebay as "RB25 intake plenum that is not fit for use" buying a cheap plenum may mean it does not work AS well but it should still work. good luck.
  16. Arn't all turbo toyotas forged internals? pretty sure the supra TT is forged. drop forged proberly not, pressed probably. same outcome really.
  17. Na that was the options. either a 3 litre that would rev to 7 without reinforcing the block n the rest of it. or a 25 stroked to 2,8 litre that will still rev to 8-9, whichever floats ur boat. i wasn't saying a 3 litre block with the 2.8 stroker kit too!
  18. Interesting, i always thought the VVTi was an improvement for low down torque or something like that? iv seen RZ 96 models for around 25 so i guess that adds more advantage to the supra.
  19. harder to find yea, but this thread just so ppl know was not a 'which one should i buy thread'. it was just a general discussion of potentials of toyota and nissan world with these cars
  20. stock, i don't think the GTT can even get a sniff of the supra's performance (RZ supra that is) but then again the price difference is miles apart also. but in terms of building up the 34 chassis. considering the GTT is lighter AND the chassis is stiffer. Engines are very simiular when the RB is built up, stroked and/or 3 litre block, i really cannot see why some people still think supras are lightyears ahead. neo head is actually a very good head also, good flow, solid lifters etc. 2j's head arn't all that perfect. although the blocks are damn close. really i think some people just used the initial assumption of GTT is the crap version of the 34. no where near standards of supra bla bla. in reality i think if you dropped in all the GTR 34's performance parts excluding the AWD you would find on a dry track the GTT certanly would not get left behind. since really all the GTR has over the GTT is traction, not much of an issue with track rubber. weight is most often the biggest factor.
  21. well thats my point. it wont be a 10 second car. it will be around 300rwkw. which is what i'm saying. well within GTT limits. racing performance, ie. maximum response not a lag monster to destroy 400m.... i don't understand why the supra is so much better? 3 litre 2jz - redline 7k (without more work) car weight: 1570 or so any suspension/ body bracing setup any turbo setup any lsd 3 litre 25 with forged internals - redline 7k (without more work) car weight: 1480 any suspension/ body bracing setup any turbo setup any lsd both are obv rwd and both have the same choice of turbos given that the 25 would be sorted with forgies etc. so what exactly makes the supra the clear winner??? aerodynamics
  22. flat 10 on a supra is going to be a single big ass turbo that is only good for top end. good for qtr miles but not racing. which is where my dilema is
