lol my bad.. GT42r... Lunatic. Yep a powerglide is going in behind it as the r33 auto built up had issues holding the power. Not surprisingly really as 373rwkw is a rather large amount of power.
-
Madaz... is slow-31 that s3girl dude on here? His is making 373rwkw running a GT40, std bottom end rb30et in an R31.
-
Sorry, it was the dayco belt I used lol. Its been close to 2years and I haven't looked at the guide for some time. I used the usual high/low tensioner config. Both were tensioners as to obtain the correct belt tension.
-
SirRacer.. Its possible the rb30e sump is the same as the rb20e sump. If not then it may spin over by hand fine but be a little noise once the motors started. Regarding the positioned tensioner.. I used 2 tensioners and the gates belt that was ~$30. Everything lined up perfectly, I know 3 other RB's here in SA that have used the same method, I've seen only 2 of them with their covers off and both have lined up perfectly. Are you looking at it at eye level? Not doing so will have it looking out. I've got pics of my own if you wish to see how spot on it all lines up.

240rwkw.. Sky30 went through I believe 6 or so rb20 box's. :S I've just done another 12months on the replacement rb20 box and its going strong with no strange noises. The old rb20 box had a thrashing of 4 years in my hands and around 135,000km's (total ~200,000-210,000km's on the clock) so it was well used and not just drop rb30 in and bang. I'd stick with the auto for now. The rb20 box wouldn't blow when 'sliding' my feeling is they would last longer as its not 'gripping'. Grip is what kills the box. Shop around.. There's one place I know of here in Adelaide that sells rb25det box's for ~1100. cut, weld and re balance your tail shaft, mod the gearbox mount and u'll probably get away with an rb25 box in the car WITH a clutch for ~2k. Or stick a full manual kit through the auto box and it might even be better for drifting considering the rb30's bulk torque and spooling ability.

Boostworx will remove/install then fix/make it stronger for $100. I recently removed mine. It cost ~$30 to have it welded up.

No doubt it would look similar to the well known top feed rx7 550cc 'squirters'. Best bet is to have some one check the injector out who knows injectors, let them know what you have done and have them comment on the spray pattern. Remember the top feed gtr and r32 gts/t injectors are all single spray.

Please... I'll repeat again.. Having to paint every year really is a load of crap, an exaguration. Seafront.. Every ~3years. A street back.. every 5 years or so. But as I said.. The seafront is over rated, I'd much prefer to live in a nice quiet street that one where people are constantly driving by, as they do on the seafront.
-
I run top feed. So unfortunately no. Looking at the pics I can't see too much of a problem. Not enough to worry me anyway.
-
Sounds perfectly fine to me. Providing they come up ok in their flow test.
-
Yep definitely no need for individual pot o2 sensor. Get them flow tested and trim each cylinder accordingly. Or as people often do shove the slightly higher flowing injectors towards the back of the motor where its hotter.

Yes definitely more hills to spiritedly drive through than you can poke a stick at. Ash.. Congrats on the buy. If you head down to the onkaparinga council and show them your license with address details they hand you a yearly beach pass so you can drive on either Moana or Silver Sands thats 5-10mins away without having to pay the $5 charge or what ever it is now days. Silver sands is much bigger than Moana and doesn't get as busy. Take the missus car; park on the beach, setup the bbq, esky full of ice and your set.

Mark, This may be of some interest to you. http://www.onkaparingacity.com/statsandfac...me_offences.asp Scroll right to the bottom for a quick comparison between council crime rates.

Interestingly the oldies recently sold their house a couple of back streets back from Moana Beach. A family from the UK bought it. Nice large 1/4 acre block, wrought iron gates, elec roller door, modern open living 2 story, theatre room, 4/5 bedroom, dining, lounge double garage up the back with a PIT!!! etc for just over mid 400's. You could always buy a large block down the area's I have suggested and build what you want for 400-500k quite easily, depends how much you like landscaping as it almost always works out cheaper to buy established.
-
Unless you buy ON the seafront/esplanade you don't have to paint every year or two. I have lived no more than 2-3mins away from the beach since I can remember and in that time the house was painted every ~5years, absolutely no less. The house was very tidy and even as 5yrs approached it still looked perfectly fine, just the usual sun fade. The southern Moana/Pt Noarlunga/Seaford area I love so much is ~40-45mins from town; that time will drop once the new freeway is built. Its ~20mins from Flinders University.

Mine flowed 480cc at 40psi rail pressure. They would be around the 'claimed' 444cc at 36.5psi. They flowed inline with what the old ap engineering site stated the gtr injectors too. With the datalogit (powerfc) and stock ecu remaps the value to use is 444cc. If it were 418cc and we were using the 444cc value the maps would be lean. Maybe the machine you used was out?
-
I too just noticed I included the rb26 in to the list. I'm certain you don't have to do this with the 26 as they run a sump adapter that is a good 15-20mm or what ever it is + I can't remember if the 26 sump did have the scrapers in place, no doubt they do though. The Rb20/25 sump most definitely.
-
The biggest you can run without an aftermarket ecu before over fueling occurs is............................. Std 444cc GTR injectors.
-
Where do you NA blokes have peak power being made with the rb30de's? Us turbo blokes find power peaks around 5500rpmish with the std plenum, aftermarket plenums have power on the stock cams peaking around 6400rpm but more importantly power holds really well to 7500rpm. On stock cams.

and some pics just out from where the oldies live. Not sure what the surfers are doing lol. There's no surf.

It really depends what you are after. I absolutely hate heading in to or close to the city. The air simply stinks, the traffic is crap and the speed limit is 50-60km/h everywhere. I'll always live on the outskirts in a good clean area such as Moana, Seaford, Pt noarlunga south thats only a short walk away from the beach. The oldies are currently living on the esplanade. The esplanade is extremely over rated; the car is always dirty the next morning after its washed, house windows are always dirty and the hoons are a pain in the arse. And yes the house will need painting every year or so. Live a street back and the house can go for many years without the need for a pain. A nice little house a street away from the seafront down Moana, Seaford & Port Noarlunga Sth is where I aim. I absolutely love driving home to the smell of the sea and slight crashing of waves. I find it relaxing, I really didn't know what I was missing until I moved away. I also dislike hot weather, its always a couple of degree's cooler down this way. Its not as 'pretty' as Glenelg, Henley Beach and what not but there's also a hell of a lot LESS cement around, much more open and relaxing. Glenelg etc feels all too cramped up with their new big apartment buildings that I think are absolutely ugly. So it all comes down to what you want. To live in the rat race or live some where thats just that little bit slower and relaxing. I'll grab some pics later.

Tyres you use(d) and how u would rate them
Cubes replied to ZigenGT's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I definitely agree with BAMR33. I ran Firenza ST-03 (225/50 16's) Dry: 2/10 Wet: 2/10 Value: 5/10. I've ran the cheap similiar priced Simex tyres. Much better dry grip, on par wet grip so I consider Simex to be the best cheap of cheap tyres. They did last BUT Simex do last longer with better dry grip and less tramlining. Spend another $15 per tyre will get you in to a nice Toyo that all round has so much more grip. -
lol yes.. I had a couple of bearings pressed in from CBC for all up around $38 or so. Its interesting Nissan use 2 bearings within the shell where as Holden on their tensioners/idlers use a single bearing. lol. My 10sec 32.. lol only a few more bits to get.
-
RE: The cam timing being thrown out with the block being decked etc.. Another reason to use a tensioner on the idler side. The first reason., They are less than half the price from nissan.
