  1. Short and thick does the trick buddy.
  2. By the time you 'prep' the std rods you may as well spend a tinny little more and grab a set of forged rods. All engine builders (that I have spoke to when building mine up) said not to waste the $$ on 'prepping' rods when these days after markets can be picked up for so cheap. It really is saving minimal cash.
  3. EDIT: Nothing to see here. stupid me.
  4. Didn't rev210 run a 12.9 in his old 33gtst with the std turbo and 205 simex tyres?
  5. lol.. Dosing is fully sik mate.. Not quite as sik as the look on your face when you popped that rad but.
  6. Block the bov off. It won't sound as pronounced as a vl but it will still 'dose' so to speak.
  7. Top stuff Howie.. Look awesome. I've recently bought a fiberglass kit from bunnings. It too was just under $30 so I'd assume it was the same one. You have inspired me to get to work and make my center 3 gauge panel for the dash.
  8. Honestly.... With the std rb25 plenum the RB30 really does have issues reving hard. Throw an aftermarket plenum on it with a set of mild cams and they easily make their peak power up around 8000rpm. The plenum and correctly matched turbo is the key. The benefit of the RB30 is its awesome rod to stroke ratio. Its considered a perfect rod/stroke ratio for track use. If you don't believe me do a little research in to why and you will see. The RB30 spools a GT35r .82 all up by ~3500rpm with a nice plenum and mild cams they hold power well through to 8k. Thats a 4500rpm power band thats making at least 200rwkw by 4000rpm, thats pretty damn impressive. Its all about average power and on the track a 'correctly' setup RB30 WILL be easier and quicker to drive around the track. Leave the std rb25 plenum on them and they feel like a great big diesel and don't rev much past 6k, great for the street but not so great for the track or high terminal speeds at the 1/4. Don't be worried the rb30 will rev slow due to its longer stroke... Don't tell me this rev's slow. RB30DET, stock bottom end, td06-20g 240rwkw 10psi. Ran a 12.19 1/4. All the theory is just that.. Theory. In practice there's no replacement for displacement in this case.
  9. Oh yer.. A dude in a 32 GTST waved as I was heading south down Commercial road this morning... I'm not sure if I returned the wave in time.. none the less.
  10. Ahh.. nice.. How long you been down that way for? Bought?
  11. Yes.. My problem some time ago wasn't the o2.. I replaced mine even though it appeared to be swinging within spec. So out came the injectors in went the new and fuel consumption went from 350km's per tank back to its usual 450 to high 400's.
  12. Its been tuned at that boost level so leave it. It might be a good idea to throw it on the dyno for a quick power run 'just' to make sure everything is in good working order. AFR's are nice and not pinging. Blackwood auto & dyno used to do power runs for $30, cheapest around by far. Other than that take it back to shaun/Boostworx as he knows the car I would presume.
  13. Damn that is small. Becarefull with the cpu selection. The datalogit software is written in VB6.
  14. Its supposed to sit on ~1.5-2 on idle. and ~5 at 3000rpm ish.
  15. Darren, I vaguely remember something about having to spin the motor slightly off TDC when bolting the cams in. Double check with John as I'm not 100% sure but its definitely something worth finding out as there's nothing worse than damaging a valve or two.
  16. I don't use a turbo timer and have never had a failure in 5years/almost 160,000km's
  17. The GTR is dead stock? Time to quickly slap an exhaust and dial some boost in to it. Do the R34's still have an increased boost level by simply removing the restrictor? Either way just big launch then back off at 100km/h before he has time to realise he's actually catching you.
  18. Carbon fibre bonnets are defectable. Not worth the hassle and $$ of having to return the car back to stock. Grab a set of injectors and either a GCG highflow for ~250rwkw or a GT30 .82 internal gate (requires new dump pipe and some intake mods, but it still can be made to look stock) for 300rwkw odd. If you go the GT30 route you may want to seriously consider ripping the head off and throwing a thicker head gasket on it to drop the comp, those cast pistons are fragile, all though in a perfect world with a good tune and perfect consistent fuel it will be 100%.
  19. Its pretty hard to get a car 100% spot on by just a dyno tune. Often than not it will ping under certain conditions, take note of those conditions/rpm/load etc and take it back for a touch up. or.. just touch it up your self.
  20. Very nice. How much did you end up picking her up for?
  21. Nice... Got pics yet? Now for some injectors, a GT30 int. gate turbo or GCG highflow, a retune.. lol Let the money spending power addiction begin. You may want to change your car profile.
  22. Better collector and wastegate provision design.. Thats pretty much it.

    Insurance

A BIG influence on insurance is the area lived. Down south at my oldies place its just under $200 cheaper per year than up at the other halfs place near flaggy. The 8000km's per year also knocks off a massive chunk of the premium, Your doing well Madaz to be paying under 1k without a km restriction on rating one with the R33 GTS4. Whats the agreed value you have on it? Shannons are a tad more expensive than the rest but they do monthly and not to mention their excess is 'normal'. No silly 2k excess and the likes if the car is stolen. :S
  24. Chances are its a selector problem. Looks like its going back to the workshop for some more knuckle skinning.
