Is It Natural For Boost To Drop ~1psi With Ebc? Stock Turbo
Cubes replied to Andi's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
It felt like a bleeder, the ebc was sharper in how boost came on. -
Yep it looks that way if you want an Rb30DET that rev's. By the time you throw a plenum on the rb25 head that allows it to rev you may as well have bought the rb26 head.

With a full exhaust & std airbox, std filter mine ran 11psi. Before exhaust I remember it was ~9.

Use the microsoft picture resizer.. pretty easy to use.. Just highlight all the files you want to resize (by holding the shift or ctrl button) and then right click the mouse and select resize. 640x480 is a fairly good size if you are on 56k. Then if possible upload to SAU. -

lol yours is insane... Throw a center resonator in the middle and it should shut it up a little. I'll soon be throwing a center muffler in. Hopefully shuts it up a touch. -
It was a hell of a lot of money for the finished quality though...

Cams did nothing to shift peak power to a higher rpm in Sky30's case. Pumped up the mid range and brought it in sooner though.

lol Maxx. You wouldn't want to mention the issue/ripped off you had with a well known crash repairer otherwise they will threaten you with legal action again. EDIT: Another vote for provident.

Is It Natural For Boost To Drop ~1psi With Ebc? Stock Turbo
Cubes replied to Andi's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Sk, I've ran an R34 actuator and had the same.. Boost would drop to ~1.5psi over the actuators rated pressure. I forget what that was now but none the less I do remember that was the case. I've always suspected a dump pipe issue in my case as the 3" pipe wasn't correctly stretched over the flange.. The top meets up but the bottom won't stretch well enough resulting in a ~10-15mm raise in a v shape in front of the turbine wheel. -
SK, Please don't take offence at anything I say I'm just trying to get my head around where you are coming from as to myself its as clear as day the wider power band is considerably better than a peaky one even though it 'may' loose a little through the mid range. But first... I'm curious how you tell it has poor distribution when the car clearly had a little boost control issue prior to the plenum and after the plenum ign wasn't tuned to suit. There was no boost controller connected so the external wastegate should have held boost perfectly to start off with, not spike up then tail off. Possibly an issue some where else that was accidentally sorted when reworking i/c piping etc. The plenum was simply dropped on, afr's set back to 12:1 due to it running larger 800cc twin sprays (no ign tweaking) and a power run performed. Either way I really do believe its worth while for the RB30DET running a GT35r even when running the lower 8psi and making under 200rwkw. I have no results with one running a gt30r so I can't conclude. Consider... The rpm drops between gears, selecting the next gear your going to be in more power with a wider power band. A narrow power band that may make more power earlier will no doubt be quicker accelerating out of a corner in a given gear but those benefits are over once that car selects the next gear as they will drop to say 160rwkw then have to build up where as one with the wider power band may only drop to 240rwkw then build up to 270rwkw. So a much greater average power for the given gear ratio's which should translate to quicker 0-100 and quicker 1/4 times. The car with the narrow power band will also loose out at higher road speeds, possibly resulting in lower TS 1/4 speeds. Hope that made sense. EDIT: We really need some results with a GT30r. From what I've seen before the GT30r .82 tends to fall over a touch before 6000rpm at 1bar ~250rwkw with power flattening off from around mid 4000rpm. Should this be just the turbo being a touch small on the hot side or not has yet to be seen. Without flicking back posts the dude who runs GT30r on his Rb30DET with a plenum please take note of where it makes its power. If power extends up close to 7000rpm without flattening off majorly then awesome.

Just like the XR6 turbo (as they are essentially the same turbine housing but running a smaller wheel). Throw a decent actuator on it rated close to the boost you intend to run. Its silly to use a 6-7psi actuator when you intend to run 12psi+.

I used normal silicon on mine as its all I had in the shed. It HAS stopped the pop and break down BUT I can still see a little flashing of the coils at night with the centre coil cover off. So for me.. its worked.. but there still is a little arcing out. Where as before I would experience pop at 11psi I can now ramp up boost to 1bar and there's no pop. Pics of cracks in the coils, do note some cannot be seen by eye. You need a magnifying glass or camera in macro mode. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...st&id=63009 <<< Obvious crack http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...st&id=63010 <<< Cannot be seen by eye but camera picked it up http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...st&id=63012 <<< And the finished job

You would want to make sure its 100% square. :S Easier to spend 160-185 on a collar.

Cubes replied to RaZ_TuRbO's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
A straight through pipe doesn't really make it that much louder now drone in the cabin (unless the exhaust is prone to do so anyway) just a tad deeper and gruntier sounding. A well setup exhaust shouldn't drone in the cabin full stop. -
Its just a gt30.. almost what every one with an rb25 runs if they don't run a gcg or slide. Be it internal or external.. it doesn't really matter.

Bugger I wasn't able to make it. -
mr_rbman.. Download the microsoft picture resizerupper. Its 512kb so a minute or two on 56k. http://download.microsoft.com/download/whi...wertoySetup.exe You simply select the files you want to resize then right click and select resize. Select the size you want and it does the rest saving them as a slightly different file name (small) (medium) (large).

So was Madaz allowed in or just his car wasn't allowed entry?

bah.. thats what circuit breakers are for.. lmao

Front and window and door seals can be done by anyone who has fiddled with these. Benjamin crash repairs on south road know what to use. I can't recommend them as I haven't used them but others have appeared happy with their work. If your talking door seals and door window seals then those parts will be needed from Nissan. Chop an arm and a leg off now or even sell a kidney as you will need to money. If I remember correctly one door seal was $280 or there abouts. :S

lol. $160 delivered is pretty damn cheap I thought.

I think he means r32 rb25de's swap with rb20's.
