  1. Does it look like this: Bolted to the engine, or is it like a fwd one bolted to the radiator?
  2. Hmm.. its almost as if the latch needs to move down. Are there any spacers under the latch by chance? You could even take it to a panelbeater and get them to "adjust" it down a bit. That way the bonnet has to squeeze the rubber bits tighter before it catches. But in saying that, they will more than likely get a bit of 4x2 and hit it with a big mallet.
  3. The other thing with the VL pump is if you dont put that last bolt in i hear from people that it eventually leaks from that point. I got my compete cambelt/waterpump kit with tensioners and the works for under $300 from BnT. Clearly not OEM Nissan, but looks identical in every way.
  4. I cant quite tell from your description, but do you have the factory clutch fan still on the car? Or an aftermarket electric one? If you have an electric one, throw it away, and put the standard one back in place with the shroud. Its really hard to make electric ones work properly, there are many threads around with issues regarding thermo setups. Most of them go back to stock because its not worth the hassle.
  5. I had the same issue on my R33. It does it at really random occasions. What i did was fill a really big bucket with stupidly hot water, and alot of a nice smelling cleaner... could try some sort of disinfectant, floor cleaner, or whatever floats your boat, then poured the whole thing down the scuttle panel to clean it all out. I did it 3 or four times, then a couple with just hot water. Seemed to work pretty well. Failing that, another thing i tried was to pour some straight car was liquid in there with no water. Just leave it there. The aroma from it hangs around for ages.. unless it rains
  6. Oh shit, What car do you have now? I misread it and thought you had an R34 already The one i listed is for R33/R34 etc. Sorry dude!
  7. Take off the one your replacing and measured that? But, to save the hassle, APEXi 500-A022 - 75mm ID / 160mm OD is the one you are after.
  8. Wind it up more There isnt one in the middle.
  9. x2. A mate of mine picked up a 1.5 couple of weeks ago for $500NZD
  10. Super Sparks right? Havnt heard great things about them. Yellow Jackets seem to be the go for the non-Japanese coil packs.
  11. Its a bit of a tricky one to get to if you dont remove the inner guard.. wish id thought of that But you can poke a coathanger through from the inside, makes it a bit easier to grab.
  12. Not a project, but a success story for me.. Changed the cambelt/waterpump etc etc. Took me a good 6 hours, and seeing iv never changed a cambelt before, the fact i did it right was success! And it fixed a worrying noise my RB25 has had on cold startups. Nice
  13. Wow i actually never realized that. I never measured mine, but it doesnt look like it has a 3.7inch inner! Could be wrong though, id have to measure it. Sounds massive!
  14. Same as me, stock clutch/pressure plate. So id say its just a driving issue. It will be fine (or not an issue.. just whatever)
  15. When i did my FMIC install i forgot to plug the AFM back, and managed to get about 300m down the road before it started spluttering and spitting. So i guess i kept the revs low untill then Sounds like you "may" have a dodgy AFM. See if you can borrow a friends that is known working?
  16. I found out the hard way just how much water stays in the block the other day.. Radiator was out etc, gave the waterpump a tap with a bit of 4x2 to break the seal, and i swear i got 2-3litres out of it. Took well over 6l to fill it back up again.
  17. I get that too. It almost feels like a 5puk clutch that is trying to slip. Or it feels like my ITR did with my 5puck solid center. I think its just the way we drive, not enough rev? too much slip? Could be anything
  18. If it is a stock clutch and your a big girl and think its heavy , then there must be something wrong with it. Going from my mates who just has an excedy, to mine (stock) is a huge difference. His is heavy, get in mine and it feels like its broken its so light. Good choice on the upgrade though
  19. Have you tried unplugging the AFM while its idling? It should run pretty smooth with it unplugged at idle IF it was the problem
  20. You wont want speed bumps. Seriously. They Make a hell of a racket every time someone drives over it. Kinda like a "thump" as each pair of wheels hit it. It gets frustratingly annoying. And is surprisingly loud. Not noticed when your driving of cousre, but when one is outside your house and down your street. Its like thunder. You'd be better off with some tight chicanes or something like that.. But glad to hear that the tree saved your house! And that they were caught.
  21. Well as i said id update this after i had a play.. Decided on the 30th to man up and have a go at changing the cambelt. I consider myself relatively mechanically minded but havent ever attempted a cambelt before. Read through a tutorial on here a while back so went at it on memory haha. Not overly confident so had a mechanic friend looking over my shoulder at points i was uneasy about. Cut a 6 hour story short (alot of questions, and getting the harmonic balancer puller to work properly) i had success with nothing broken! Noise has been eliminated. Win ++ Parts i changed were: Cambelt Waterpump Idler Pulley Tensioner Pulley PS Belt AC Belt Alternator Belt Im not 100% sure of what actually cured the problem. I did notice that there was a little slack in the cambelt. Maybe it was this? Maybe it was a dodgy idler? Or Tensioner? After reinstalling the radiator and bleeding the system, i realised that i had forgotten to change some oil seals that came with the kit.. a case of out of sight out of mind. They were in the glovebox after me finding them floating around in the boot Didnt have any leaks, so heres hoping they hold out untill the next belt change.... Either way its fixed. One more thing to cross off the list of things to do before i die.
  22. HKS Hi Power "Silents" On RB's are not silent at all. And IMHO, the lower the RPM the louder it is. I have one on my RB25, and its far from quiet. comparing it to stock sound would be like comparing black to white.
  23. The car should idle with the AFM not plugged in. So at a guess not having one at all it should still idle.
  24. But of course make sure the engine is cold before hosing it down Then go for a drive and dry it all out. Wont take long. Iv done it a million times and never had troubles. I think some people just poke the hose into places they shouldnt for too long haha
  25. There was probly a time when Splitfires were released, that the exact same conversation was being had. A bunch of people had to take a gamble on a new product. Im glad there are people out there still trying to support other products. It just takes time for them to prove themselves. Ill give Yellow Jackets a go when i need them for sure.
