  1. Hi guys - hope you are all well. To be honest we have reasonably decent reliability considering the power output. We don't bother taking the engine out every meeting unless it's one of the 2 big ones each year (Main Event & European Finals) as they are both 4 day meetings & you can be looking at 12 runs + at each one. Normally it's a case of finishing the meet & if all looks & feels ok then a compression test at the end & if all good she gets packed away & then left really until the next meet. Prior to each meet we get the car out a few days before, detailed check over & put her on the dyno just to check basic settings & if all ok off to the meet we go. Only hassle we have had over recent times has been a couple of gaskets failing which is no huge surprise, so off with the head & get it changed at track if needs be & then back out again :-) Same crank for the last 3 years, same pistons for last 12 months, same rods last 12 months etc, same block etc - normally change bearings regularly & exhaust valves etc just to be on the safe side. These RB's are tough buggers :-)
  2. Hi fellas , Well after a journey lasting nearly 5 years from bog standard road car to current guise, delighted to say that the "old girl" did us proud last weekend here in the UK at Santa Pod at the FIA Main Event. She finally decided it was the right time not to break or give us any grief & we finally saw sub 7.5's - running a 7.45 @ 187 & then afterwards a 7.49 @ 183 to back it up. Was an absolutely amazing feeling & fair to say has been at times a hard slog. Huge thanks to Abbey Motorsport here in the UK who look after all tuning & engine work + the crew - all over the moon. Here's a few vids & a couple of piccies 7.45 run (we were against an 8.4 rail with a 0.9 headstart) The car still has a bit more to give & we will keep on "tweaking away " but just brilliant progress from the team & i'm over the moon for the guys who at times have bust a gut to get the car together cheers John
  3. Thanks & we are really looking forward to it now Might seem like ages away but we only have 1 season to run the cars again before they need to be packed up. 100% Jamboree at Willowbank in 2011. Really starting to get organised now & massive box ticked with the guys at East Coast Customs being absolute stars agreeing to help out with Logistics & workshop etc etc. Andra have confirmed they will issue me with a 3 month temp licence as i have the right FIA licence in place & will arrange for the cars to be scruiteneered when they get to the workshop & issue log books which is good news. Looking at flights today & we have a corporate deal in place with Virgin who are happy to give us a decent discount for 10 or more so that will help - just the dreaded shipping to look into next Have sent an email to Ray Box about our intentions so all slowly coming together. Will work our balls off this winter & next season to really be as ready as we ever will be Been looking into where we will be staying for the event & local pubs & bars, nightclubs already - lol My mate who helps out with Pro Auto's drag car in Perth is gutted as he will now have to travel across !
  4. Well emails swapped with HTL & have said Jambo 2011, they are positive as well so great news. Now time for us to sort our stuff out over winter & get quicker in 2010. Here's the last run for each car GTST - we will need to find a couple of tenths for the old girl next year but hopefully switching to methanol + bigger turbo should help a lot. Cage upgraded over this winter as well. Zed - first run in anger & knocked off early in 3rd before the 1/8th to get some datalogging info. First clean pass should see a very very low 7 or high 6 & we can go from there & start to turn the boost up.Our first ever time this winter being able to use an engine dyno - so new turbo's, wastegates & exhaust etc will be bolted on & we can do full runs so should be a massive help. will contact Ray as mentioned Paul to see if he is happy to help & will start contacting the other teams to get their thoughts on things.
  5. Huge thanks for the info & help (just sent you a pm) Was on the phone at 2am UK time to Ben at East Coast Customs in Brisbane this morning & looking really positive that we can work with them in terms of transportation, workshop facilities & help which is just bloody brilliant & gives us the chance to now start firming everything up . Might seem like ages away but in reality for us is only 1 more season as we cant race now till march 2010 & then would have to get the cars packed up april 2011. Some guys of the UK skyline owners club want to know dates so they can start saving for the trip & the amount those buggers can drink they need to save a lot ! - lol Really really excited at the thought of coming over, with East Coasts help it's a major box ticked
  6. Which one is likely to have everyone there ? I dont mind feb or august to be honest as either way we get a full season here first. In some ways Jambo would be better as gives us time to do a full season, the 2010 winter to build & dyno new engines & test uk in march before packing up in April ready for shipping. Get to Oz end of July & then test for 2 weeks before jambo . Also gives us more time to save cash for the trip ! Is Jambo the bigger event ? in a way the sooner we make our mind up the sooner we can really plan well ahead. There are some great guys in the UK skyline owners club who would like to make the trip as well & have a huge party Only issue is that i would need to find a friendly garage who could help us with storage, transport & dyno facilities & workshop (more than happy to pay them for their trouble) as my mate is in Perth & obviously no way he can help us in Queensland/Brisbane etc. Also gives us a chance to do a bit of sightseeing & the missus would be over the moon going to Sydney.
  7. Huge thanks for that Looking at geography (us UK bods never truly realise just how HUGE Oz is !) it potentially makes a lot more sense to do to the Jamboree in 2011 & if there was another event ideally 2 weeks earlier at either sydney or Willowbank that would just be perfect ! If there is no comp then we would just have to get there 2 weeks early & try & test - hopefully the track would be prepped & we could get plenty of runs in ?
  8. i guess the other thing to think about would be potentially to hopefully have a couple of options close together which is why i like the idea of Perth & Sydney as only 2 weeks apart approx. Last thing we want is to pin everything on 1 comp only for the whole trip & the weather fouls the event & we can't race.
  9. Hi guys - huge thanks for the replys August next year is honestly to soon for us mate - we would have to have the cars on a ship in May & to be honest we need a full season with the 350z to get us to where we need to be, also need a full season with the GTST to get the new turbo set up etc running well. When we come we want to come fully prepared without any excuses & give it our absolute best. The idea of running in Feb 2011 meant we can run a full season with both cars here in the Uk & Europe next year & develop then after the season has finished in the 1st week of october get everything freshened up & on the boat for late Oct & would be in Oz for Jan. I have a good mate who works with Pro Auto in Perth who have said they will help us out with transport, storage & dyno/garage facilities (they race themselves). If the common concensus is that Jambo in august is far far better then i am easy to be honest & we could do that in aug 2011 & ship the cars say in April. For us we would much prefer to run against the best Jap cars around rather than mixing it up with a few jap cars but mostly v8's. We are already running against v8's over here & would just love the opportunity to line up with the best jap cars in the world to be honest. We all watch the videos over here but lining up alongside HTL, Godzilla, Gas, Rayglass, Pac - it just doesnt get any better than that for us ever !!!!. If we get our arses kicked them the smile on all of our faces will be as massive as if we had won ! Adrian - thanks mate - will wait to hear from you Cheers again guys - much much appreciated
  10. Hi guys - hope you are all well Weather is starting to turn shiity here in the Uk now as winter gets closer - not jealous of you at all !! lol As some of you know we were going to bring the GTST over to Oz in 2008 but made the right call & said no let's get our house in order first & do some decent times & learn the ropes + we were keeping an eye out for another project. That project came in the form of the 350z when the price was right & huge development going on with that right now. Now then we promised one of our sponsors Ray @ Gizzmo in Melbourne that we would run in 2011 come rain or shine at the Perth & Sydney summer nats & that is EXACTLY what we will do come rain or shine, win or lose we will have the mother of all parties I've swapped a few emails with Reece & the guys at HTL who are also potentially keen & just really trying to see if anyone on here could help maybe drum up some interest with either the tracks, mags or promoters ?? - any help would be much much appreciated - it really really would to make this a real possibility!! I'll be honest for me, my missus & kids & all the lads at Abbey Motorsport it's a trip of a lifetime that we may well never make again or certainly for some years & we would love to have a chance to line up whilst there with the best there is ie/ HTL, Godzilla Motorsports, Gas, Pac, Rayglass & even titan if they could be persuaded !! For us it's about just having the chance to race with the best, likelyhood is we will have our arses kicked but so what !! we all race to improve ourselves & our cars & for the memories - it would never get better than that for us. We will bring Project GTST over - 7.68 in 2009 & will be switched to methanol & a new bigger turbo & other changes for 2010 We will bring Project Zed over - so far 8.0 @ 169 knocking off in 4th gear (mountains of work now happening with 3 new engines ready for Nov & being tested & developed on an engine dyno all winter with new turbos & internals etc to produce over 2000 bhp) As mentioned any help would be much much appreciated in somehow pulling this together, it's not a willy waving contest !! purely for once trying to get some of the quickest jap cars on the planet together to give one hell of a show & make a lot of drivers & crews & hopefully spectators very happy to be part of it ! my email address is [email protected] would love to hear from people who could help us out Huge thanks John
  11. She's a bit of a monster I think when the bonnet's on the car, the car will look amazing people will either love it or hate it BUT at least they should remember it which is the main thing
  12. Well great great news today, block will be back from the machine shop on Thursday & engine should be in for Monday, dyno work to do & if all goes to plan end of next week ready for shipping Over the moon - here's final pics from the bodyshop, there will be stainless steel guards going over the holes cut out each side for the exhausts & i think she will look wonderful great news to think end of june could/should see the car in the Uk
  13. Hurray a vid clip with sound 5.40 into this
