The BNR34 dumps are stainless already and are designed well. They're equivelent or superior in flow to any aftermarket all in one dump pipe. If you want to split the exhaust though you're going to go aftermarket. Gains will be small probably or non existant. The stock dumps also have a heat shield if i recall correctly. If I had the choice between Chinese stainless dumps and standard dumps I would keep the stockers. I went to the Trust long style front+dump design pipes and I think that was a decent upgrade because of the longer split but they don't fit very well to be honest.

Shannon's only cover track days for older historic cars. Ring and ask, that's what I did and they said in no uncertain terms that there is no way they'd cover a skyline on a track day.

Has The New Commodore Changed Your View
sewid replied to Smurf's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Well in that case you are comparing a vehicle made in 1998 and earlier with a vehicle made in 2006, 2007. I have no doubt the interior has improved beyond what was around in 1998. Take a look at the highest spec V36 Skyline (350GT Type-SP) though for about the same money in Japan (Y3.8million - $39,800rrp before options) as a SV6 commodore ($39,900rrp before options). These are a better comparo. Both are large 4 door RWD cars with V6 NA motors at around the same price. V36 Skyline sedan is 4.75m long Holden is 4.89m V36 Sklyine sedan is 1.77m wide Holden is 1.89m wide V36 Skyline weighs 1600kg Holden weighs 1735kg (auto) V36 Skyline develops 232kw @ 6800rpm from 3498cc Holden develops 195kw @ 6500rpm from 3564cc V36 Skyline develops 358Nm of torque @ 4500rpm Holden develops 340Nm peak torque @ 2600rpm. The Holden actually develops about 20Nm more torque at 2600rpm than the Skyline V36 Skyline has leather interior standard for that price Holden charge $2500 extra for leather V36 Skyline sunroof option - $989 Holden sunroof option - $1690 V36 Sat Nav - Standard Holden sat nav - $1290 V36 Skyline Fuel Economy - 11.4 litres/100KM Holden - 11.3 litres/100KM Too bad we won't see them here for a couple of years and if we did Nissan would be forced to increase the price due to duty by 10% and charge 10% tax then realistically it's a 50,000 AUD+ car. This comparison is valid for domestic vs. domestic markets though and shows what other domestic markets are getting for their $40k and frankly we're getting shafted. -
GTR airbox is different to GTS-t. At least in the 34. GTR has two air intakes. Snorkel and wheel well.

R34gtr Vspec From Malaysia
sewid replied to russwestwood's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I've always had a thing for Malaysian chicks..... Nice car. -
Leave it silver.
-
Well it's 100% been wound back. Probably done over 100k kms. The rust around the boot light is common in 34's. Everything else sounds normal for a car of that age. Suspension is ready to go and needs new tyres.
-
Here is the FAST illustration for the R34 dash. As you can see, the GTR MFD is just a direct fit replacement to the 3 guage cluster on the R34.
-
For an R34 no cutting is required. Usually second hand MFD's come with the cover. For other models obviously some cutting will be required to mount it on top of the dash. Here's one installed in an R33 GTSt.
-
Standalone, costs about $800 - $1200. Depending on the version. You can wire it into any car. It fits straight into a R34 GTT but custom wiring is required. I can probably get you one if your keen send me a PM.

Gtr Losing Power/misfiring/unhappy
sewid replied to No Crust Racing's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
You asked when the stock one's run out of flow. The answer is they don't. The sensor runs out of resolution before they run out of flow. I'm making about 300awkw on my high boost setting and i've already run out of AFM resolution. My AFM's read 5.1v by like 5-6krpm if I recall correctly. If you have an adequate tuner because they can work around it past that point using what they know and judging by experience and things I don't understand really well. But this is not ideal..... Past that power level you really need to upgrade to either Z32 AFM's or Nismo RB26 AFM's. A mate of mine was make 315awkw with standard AFM's but Jim at CRD highly recommended the upgrade at that point and I agree with him. -
Yes it looks weird. Heat isnt a problem on the street when you're talking a turbocharged engine of course theyre going to get hot. It's good to keep things cool yes but the engine bay has been designed with a higher temp in mind from the factory. On the track where you're seeing a great deal higher temps is when you need to worry about it and think about getting temps down or moving air around or keeping heat inside the exhaust etc.
-
Well what some people do is place a number of washers where the hinge bolts on effectively lifting up the rear of the bonnet letting air escape out the back. You may also need longer bolts. You could do this before a track event and then put it back to stock afterwards.

How much are you getting these mags in for? You can just buy them at Kinokuniya (Option2, GTR magazine, Hyper revs etc) but its pretty pricey. I only buy GTR magazine now and its just gone up to $37 an issue (1400 yen cover price). I think option is cheaper.

Minor Service Major Snowball R33/rb25
sewid replied to Spoolemup's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Broken studs on the exhaust side are very common and i'd be suprised to find a high km RB25 skyline without at least 1. The manifold is long and it flexes due to heat cycles and they break. No big deal... -
The yaris is a great car though, I own a GTR and a brand new Yaris and drive the Yaris everywhere. And there is far more room in the Yaris than the GTR even with the drivers seat all the way back you can still fit a full size passenger in the back. I folded the rear seats down on the weekend and fit an entire fully assembled BBQ including pedestal and accessories into the hatch with no dramas. its great.

My Beautiful Bentley Killed By A Eb Falcon

Condolences on the loss of an amazing car. Is there no way to salvage her with brand new parts via insurance? -
A 40th Anniversary with full options was known as the GTS25t Type-MR (not to be confused with the 280 Type-MR which had the Reinik 2.8litre engine). I have seen the catalog for it when it was released and basically it comes with what looks like a GTR kit from the factory although these were all options and most 40th anniversary buyers chose the cheaper S2 look. Heres what a fully optioned one looks like: Theres at least a couple of these with full options in Australia as I've seen one on a cruise a couple of times. I personally would not sell the wing as when you resell the car the factory items can only add value.
-
Duncan the rear mounted G sensors on the R34 are probably not for the display only. The screen you talk about is only a Nismo option and not fitted to many cars from the factory (if any, possibly all aftermarket or dealer fitted) so it makes no sense that the factory put G sensors on the car to support an aftermarket item. My car has these G sensors and I have not got the Nismo display nor do I have any G meter display in the car.

You can buy these pre made from Japan pretty cheaply if you want to keep your stock one.
