  1. Susp. Coils for my saggy-butt ! PM Sent, PM recieved !
  2. I don't know if they're easy to come by or not, but my mate who is an auto sparky put an AC Delco sealed lead-acid in mine - circa 550CCA - runs rings arounf the old 'Exide' that was in there when i bought it. Starts easier, and just plain starts after working on the car with the stereo on Just thought id add my 2c. NOTE ; It is also a very small battery, similar in dimension to what Noel described, small posts included.
  3. If you know anyone with a nissan dianostics computer, get them to check the mapping (assuming you still have the stock ECU) matte of mine had the exact same problem in his honda (mutiple plug per cylinder thing - weird) but basicaly only messed about at light/med load, just kinda waffled a bit...
  4. The wreckers are generally pretty busy, and no doubt they get plenty of the affore mentioned clientel just wandering, talking alot of cr*p then leaving, not having bought anything. - anybody whos done any work in a joint retail/customer service job will be able to relate to that. - As mentioned before, know your stuff WELL, don't waffle on a bout sh*t that he probably doesn't need to know, and you'll normally get along just fine. on the other hand there are some guys that just don't like kids..... Hard fact of life. Best of luck with the car though phil
  5. If We are all (pretty much) agreed that fake performance stickers = definiton of rice, then is there anything that you guys think should be supplementry to that definition? People are constantly calling those of us who happen to like shiny things (See avaitar, but im not the only one) "Ricers", but by 'definition' are not. If lowering a car that does not get used on a track is NOT rice, then how is it that any other mods that look good, but do not imply any performance gain, also get called rice? phil --> Just Waitin' for the Flamin'..... EDIT : That is remarkably hard to read... sorry about that.
  6. Not Really in the same vein as the rest of the disussion here, but when my R32 was running rich (Black soot etc.) it was a dead CAS. May not be the same thing, but have a listen to it and see if it rattles when the revs drop off. Just gotta have my 2c..... sorry phil
  7. While im with alot of people here who beleive in keeping it off the streets, so to speak, there are still plenty of people who want a go. My options on all of these are as follows : 1)Riced up Lancers/Rio's/Corrolas etc. - Smile, Wave, let them try for all it matters, just roll smoothly away - they're not worth dying or worse crashing the 'line for. 2)Commodores in all shapes and forms - Read as above. 3)Other Skyline Drivers - Who cares? If your an enthusiast, you'll know how fast your car and it's rivals go (or don't go in some cases ) give 'em the Big Thumbs Up Move Quickly (and smoothly) away, so everyone else at the intersection knows what they're missing out on, and doesn't just think "hoon". just my thoughts on Traffic Light Etiquet
  8. i recently had to have my resonator changed to get a sticker off - went from 3" hotdog to 2.5", large barrel muffler (stuck in the middle of the 3" piping) and it has a simmilar sound - just over 2750 rpm, it howls so sharply and for sucjh a short time, that i too thought it was a rattle, but when held on the revs, it still makes the noise - it rally pisses me off too... not that it wasn't loud before but at least it was constant... will change it all later, but thats another story (and thread) good luck with getting rid of that noise mate, coz your right, its nasty !!
  9. Reason for opposing a law, yeah it's kinda ridiculous, but lets face it, he has a point. Most laws have negatives, and this has got to be one of them - on the other hand, it might actually be enough to shake up the people these laws are aimed at ! who knows ? stranger things have happened.... Phil
  10. Thanks Mark, I wasn't sure about this whole thing, ive seen it applied in other areas, but not sure about this one - thanks for checking though, i don't know anyone who has a clue Just something else i don't think has been mentioned, but is there a time limit between offences? or if i do something silly now, then in 10 years get caught in the wrong place/time then will it still go to the second offence? ie if stage 1 and 3 are 15yrs apart, does it still carry that far? Just a thought, coz they don't mention anything about demerit points type system or anything could be tricky there... phil
  11. Has anyone here had anything to do with common law? might be worth looking into, especially if theres anyone legally-minded or at leat midly more compentant than me in these matters present. Im fairly sure (from my limited dealings with it) that many laws about possesion and trespassing etc. aren't actually legal, (if that makes sense...?) because they weren't passed by referendum. Check me on this though.... Secondly. Surely no beat-copper can just say gimme the keys, your ass and car are mine?! i have utmost respect for cops, and the kinda sh*t they have to put up with in their job, but after having spent the last 2 weeks getting a yellow sticker off my car, i really think that giving too much power to your average guy on the street could lead to some nasty altercations, Also, as somebody mentioned, more people are going to try and run, rather than stop and lose the car - thats not just a maybe, id think that was a certainty Just My 2c - and everyone should have some input here, as we're all going to be affected by this - Imports look different, so expect more attention. Drive safe (and slow now) Phil
  12. Dunno about the rest of the stuff here, but i know that N2O is right - O has -2 valence, N, while noble, has 1 outer shell electron which covalently bonds with each O valence electrons, hence 2 N for every O. i think.... been a while  Basically, the chem looks sound - Now just need 4 gallons of nitro and a rent-A-car.....
  13. just my 2c on CAS troubles - Mine was making a scraping/rattling noise, and car was running REALLY rich - black stuff up back of car type rich - and when i pulled it off, pulled it apart, gave it a bit of a twist and 1) very hard to turn and 2) metal shavings in pile on ground - so went a got a replacement ($250 - WA is exy) and slapped it in, car now pulls better, more economical, and doesn't rrattle - good result all round i thought. Not a lot of help for your problems, but its some other symptoms. Catcha, Phil
  14. Well, after another 2 hours under the car last night, and a decent drive today, it seems the new oil (75/80 semi-synth) is MOST DEFINITELY better than the 80/90 i had earlier in the week. Still not perfect though... went back and got some Nulon Addative (PPTFe stuff) looked at the slick50, but at $45 for the treatment, and $40somthing for the oil, i may as well have got Redline, so the Nulon will do for now. Like most "miracle" cures, while it might not work, it shouldn't really do any harm. Well thats what im hoping
  15. Just get an RSM.... about $300 more than wire cutters, but hey..... Probably not entirely necessary unless you have HICAS though...
  16. well, i don't know if im trying to go one better, but i have NO badges AT ALL ! just the dirty outline and slight paint discolouration where they USED to be.... No 'S', no GT badges (probably the only ones i miss) and nothing on the back but the embossed section between the lights - Would've taken a big knife to get THAT mofo off !! (and BTW, im still looking for a set of the side GT badges, where do yous guys get them ?)
  17. emails away ! I shoulda done this sooner.... Cheers Zanda
  18. Your Both still breathing, Lauren, so be thankful for small mercies. I know its not the first thing you think about, but its the most important. As with everyone, of course, Im glad your ok !
  19. whites probly better than you think - It doesn't seem to get dirty, just taks on a shade the colour of the dirt - and becomes a litlle less white.... My silver 32 gets a dirty bum quicker than baby I"VE ever met.... Must be the slipstreaming me thinks...
  20. Whatever you choose, choose well... I got given some... shall we say less than ideal.... advice on what oil to use, and after 3/4 hour pumping it in with a stupid little pump, the damn gearbox is WORSE than with the old oil in it ! i coulda thumped the guy who sold it to me if my arm wasn't so sore.... So anyway, went and saw someone else, who, rather than just saying -"Yeah this is good stuff, i use it" (silly me should've asked what in) Rang the guys who supply the oil, who actually had access to some books on this kinda thing. I guess one day ill learn not to be in a hurry. Oh Well..... Back to the point though, i now have some Valvoline 75/85w Synthetic (i forget the fancy name) and ill let you know how it goes... bit cheaper than the redline stuff, at only $35/4litres, but I don't make huge horsepower or race or anything like that, so it should do the trick. Diff oil was just your average 90 Lim-slip stuff - no surprises there. Also, just as an off-shoot to this question, to those of you who've used a couple of different oils, does the expensive stuff really make 70/80 bucks worth of difference? just wondering Phil (oh, and sorry if this is whoring, im blurry on the details of definition....)
  21. I have no BOV or need for one for that matter.... so I don't really have a say on this... but i like Strich9's idea... burn around in everyone else's car !!
  22. 6'1", R32 GTS, and also no sunroof... and i agree, with a helemt it may get a bit tight, but im generallly ok... but have long legs/arms, so seat way back no probs, and lent a little more back than in other cars, but its that style of ****pit anyway. actually, i seem to have more trouble with bumping head on side of windows surround when cornering a bit hard.
  23. i just had Yokohama A539's fitted, and they seem to work very adequately. No slip in wet/dry at all yet. at $212 (now 199, grrrr) they were pretty reasonable i thought.... well, compared to Sava Intensa's they are fantasitc, but what do you expect?
  24. As Stupid as that may sound to some.... I couldn't agree with you more !! there are definitely certain advantages to being just like everyone else....
  25. i was playin with my air intake today, and discovered if the hose that comes off the back of the main intake pipe, above the tapet cover, firewall side, is blocked, the engine just dies without any throttle applied. Now, i would surmise that this is the idle air feed, as the butterfly is completely closed when the throttle is right off, and with the car running at an idle, a hell of a lot of air is getting sucked into that hose. I guess what im trying to say is see if the solenoid that this pipe goes into is buggered, maybe the pipe is blocked, or the throttle position sensor is faulty. don't place too much faith in these diagnostics, they're just ideas of an amateur ! cheers Phil
