  1. Hey got an RB26 manifold to sell, $800 which is a huge discount for an as-new tubular steampipe and heat coated manifold MTX racing, heat coated. Split flange T4 with merge collector, High quality bit of gear Only test fitted Reason for sale is that it didn't sit the GTX4022R low enough in the engine bay for my RB26/30 to clear in my r32 It's a good bit of gear and if you are in Canberra, happy to come around and test fit it with you if you have the hot side stripped out If you want pics please send an SMS to zero four 15 eight 38 790 Will try and upload pics but if you just text me I'll send pics, I live in Curtin. Would prefer to sell local pick up in the first instance but will consider shipping if you pay freight. Cheers Andrew

  3. After having a look at the compressor charts, decided to run with a Garrett GTX-4202R (T4 split flange) It's been a bit of a mission just fitting it into the engage bay so far. I originally had an MTX manifold, but with the extra deck height on the rb30 it sat it up way too high, so had to get a 6boost specifically designed to sit the turbo lower and further forward. So far it has still required: -relocating the battery to the boot -relocating the carbon canister to where the battery was -relocating the power steering resevoir to i-dunno-where-yet -"panelbeating" the mounting boss for the ps resevoir on the passenger strut tower; -further butchering the under-bonnet ribbing above the turbo. haven't even starting thinking about routing the wastegates or building the dump etc.
  4. 1991 r31 skyline GXE for sale, wrecking - selling whole car. NOTE: CAR IS DEREGISTERED and will need to be trailered away. Cannot be driven. The r31 has finally gone past the point of economical repair. Asking $200. Would suit parts, some potentially useful bits: -refreshed bottom end (at around 400,000 kms, replaced bearings, rings, cleaned pistons, honed bores, all seals and gaskets). Might suit someone looking to put together a cheap rb30/25 or replace the motor on tired r31. -reconditioned SOHC cylinder head with not many k's put on it since installed. -tow bar and tow ball -4 serviceable tires on 4 dated but good condition auscar 5 spoke mags, 15" -all complete and good condition glass -headlights, stove-top tailights -working condition automatic trans, still seems to function OK. This is a complete car and the motor can be started and driven onto a trailer. Not sure what the precise issue was with the running of it, could be the old injectors, something to do with the ECU, who knows. Best way to contact me is by phone, zero four 15 8 three 8 seven 90, and I can send some pics. Will try to upload some pics on here if I get time.
  5. OK, new question: Does anyone have/has seen any neat solutions for: 1) relocating the power steering reservoir 2) moving the A/C line out of the way? It's needed to accommodate the merge collector on the manifolds that sit the turbo lower in the engine bay.
  6. Spoke to Kyle at 6 boost, they do one that sits the turbo lower but it requires modification of the A/C line. Does anyone know what's involved in that, or alternatively if there's some other kit that avoids the need to mess with the AC line?
  7. Hi all I'm currently in the process of attempting to fit a garrett GTX4202R split-flange T4 turbine to my R32, RB26/30dett, and having some issues with my MTX manifold. It's a massive turbo, I know. With the current manifold, I could probably get clearance between the block and the strut tower with some modification/panel beating, but the problem is the clearance for the compressor housing - it's sitting an inch or so too high (probably would have been *just* ok if it was an RB26, but the extra 38mm deck height has screwed me. I've seen on the internet some brands that seem to position the turbo a bit more forward, and angled out from the motor slightly. I think I would need it to also sit it angled slightly downwards so the compressor housing won't foul the bonnet. My other requirements/preferences would be: -split flange T4 -twin 38mm vband wastegates -steampipe Anyone got any suggestions for something off the shelf that will fit? Andrew
  8. what type of mods are we talking - removing sections of the bonnet ribbing or something more serious? Also what wastegate setup- single or twin? retaining A/C? Finally, - what brand is the manifold?
  9. thanks for the heads up! Seems like there should be some solutions out there if mine won't work.
  10. Need advice on choosing manifold - rb26/30 single turbo GTX4202R Hi all I'm currently in the process of dummying up the fitment of my garrett GTX4202R on my rb26/30 and of course running into some fitment issues. 1) First issue is the clearance between the turbo and the block - the compressor housing fouls against the rocker cover by maybe 1-2 mm. Might be able to either relieve the rocker cover or offset grind the cylinder head flange by 1mm or so to angle it out slightly. EDIT: or does anyone make an exhaust manifold insulator/spacer? even 3-5 mm would probably do it. 2) second issue is more difficult. the manifold seems to sit the (admittedly huge) turbo too high in the bay to shut the bonnet. This is probably not assisted by the fact that I already have an extra 38mm of deck height due to running the rb30 block. But it's so close I won't really know until I dummy it up. It's a nicely designed mx motorsports steampipe manifold with a nice collector and having done some measurements with a spare block, it's going to be a game of millimeters. But just want to know if there are any manifolds which sit the turbo nice and low in the engine bay, while still clearing the a/c - I would prefer to just buy something ready made and minimise the amount of screwing around if possible, in the event it comes to having to buy a new manifold. any suggestions gratefully appreciated. Oh, needs to be twin-scroll T4 flange, and if possible twin 38mm v-band gates. Or, custom. Some that I've seen also angle the turbo out sightly so the intake is looking more to the passenger-side headlight. Cheers Andrew
  11. Out of interest, were any immobilisers or alarms fitted to these vehicles? Just want to know the level of sophistication we're dealing with here. I've got a three-point but given that's the minimum required for insurance purposes I'm a bit worried. Anyone use one of them tracking devices that syncs to your mobile phone?
  12. Oh hey, time for an update. Yep, my transfer case was toasted, so I got one from Trojan, it's all in and working and GODZILA is back on the road! Thanks for pointing me to that guy, it was actually surprisingly difficult to find a good transfer case at short notice.
  13. Anyone running a GTX40-series on an RB30 hybrid? Hi everyone, just trying to find out if anyone is running (or knows of someone running) a garret GTX40 series on a hybrid rb30. I did a word search on "GTX" in the dyno thread but that threw up a handful of 35 series with power in the low-mid 400's. Would also be interested in results of any 2JZ's or other I6 3.0s. If you have any links please post them up!
  14. potentially dumb question that may be of relevance to others.... I presume you were planning on using these on an earlier model 'R? Is it possible to (for example) put these on a '32, and what is involved? What would end up being the minimum wheel diameter?
  15. I googled the specs for the turbo but could only find a GTX4294 R. Is the difference with the "R" the bearing type? Also is your one water and oil or just oil.
  16. Thanks for the tip - managed to get in contact with John to pick one up on Friday, so hopefully can get the 'R back on the road relatively soon.
  17. r32 GTR (early) transfer case in good condition Hey all just trying to track down a good condition r32 GTR transfer case, please let me know if you have one lying around by itself or are willing to separate from a box. If not in Canberra, shipping will be required to Canberra 2605 thanks Andrew 0415 eight three eight 790
  18. Need an r32 GTR transfer case in known good condition (removed from running car and/or no debris in the oil), if anyone here has one please hit me up ASAP zero 4 one 5, 838, seven 90 is the best way Andrew
  19. Just spoke to Award, they indicated that it's going to be properly expensive to get a full rebuild, and have suggested finding a good condition second-hand unit from an r32. I have a call in with Just Jap, but does anyone on the forum have a second-hand transfer case sitting around that is in usable condition?
  20. Hey there Thanks for the reply. I'm in the ACT. Mine is a grey-market import from some years ago, imported originally under the 15 year rule (hence the 91). The advice on the transfer case is that it may be rooted due to running different rolling diameter tires front to rear. I've been told there are different model xfer cases from year to year so trying to get something as close as possible to my year model. If anyone knows an actual shop that will rebuild one (or sell outright, or on exchange) I would be super grateful if you could give me the details. Preferably Canberra or Sydney, but at this point will consider anywhere. Apparently there are increasingly few shops that deal with them. Andrew
  21. Can anyone help with an R32 GTR early (91) transfer case? Hi All Have a suspected blown transfer case, just wondering if anyone can help either with: 1) has or knows of one for sale in good condition and compatible year model (would also consider entire gearbox at the right price if not wanting to separate) 2) knows where and how much to buy one new 3) knows of where to get a reconditioned one Would really appreciate any advice. Andrew
  22. gees for that amount of money would be cheaper to get a new head. I bought a head off gumtree recently that had been machined and with new seals and everything for like $250. The head gaskets are cheap too. Would be a lot easier to tape up the ports and drill/ezy-out the studs while it's sitting on the floor.
  23. Thanks for the responses - All very useful. In terms of goal/usage, I am trying to selection the turbo to match the flow potential for the motor more than anything (the current twin low-mount HKS2530s are just producing heat and not much else above 23psi), and usage will be occasional weekend use (although at some point I'd like to take it to a 1/4 mile). Having the actual model numbers/names of these turbos makes googling around a lot easier. It seems like advances in technology are allowing relatively smaller turbos to flow more air, which is a good thing. The GTX4202R looks to be a very good contender so far - but how come they all quote the price without a compressor housing? Not a big deal but just seems strange.
  24. Yet another turbo choice thread - what is happening in the turbo market these days? OK, here we go, I'll try to keep this short: -I did my homework, albeit more than a year ago. -the turbo is going on a built RB31dett (forged, cams, etc). -having looked at compressor maps and similar builds on here, I am going for something with similar dimensions to a T88 -I have started collecting parts, including a good quality tubular high-mount manifold with a split-flange, merge-collected T4 and (TiAL) twin 38mm external wastegates. -Given how much I spent on my motor, cheap chinese turbos are out of the question. I want good VALUE, in terms of price per performance/durability. I understand I will have to pay for that. At that time, there were limitations in what features a T88 turbo could have. Few had ball bearings, none were water cooled, I don't recall seeing any billet compressors. My question is, which of the following features on my wish list can I now have in a reputable brand, and where is a good place to buy it: -T88 size -ball bearing -water cooled -billet turbo wheel -t4 split flange -(are there any other features I should be chasing)?
