  1. I was watching a tube vid on a guy removing that clear stuff they put on, t'was a R35, not enough heat gun was used and paint peeled off in some areas
  2. Chinese parts can be good, it's all in the quality assurance, and materials, but, that costs more, but, typically not alot more, it is up to the customer who is getting the parts made, some are happy to pay more for quality good QA and materials because the savings are in the cheap labour costs, so they can sell a quality product at a lower price point, other customers who are getting parts made give no farks and want their products to be as cheap as possible for maximum profit, so minimal QA and average materials Hence why some Chinese parts are crap, whilst other are good Much like parts and other stuff made in different countries around the world, including "made in Australia", "made in Japan", "made in 'Merica" branded gear
  3. My view is to put the best tyres your budget allows for a daily, there is no run off or kitty litter on the street, only cars, bikes, gutters, trees, kids .......as for the track, it's not like street driving where you need to deal with all the thousands of Muppets that are cutting you off, slamming on their brakes for animals or pedestrians that wander into the road Every mm the tyre brakes better could be the mm's required to not running over a kid who runs out in front of you, especially if it's wet, wet weather is where most cheap tyres fail horribly, either when hard braking, or quick evasive turning even at lower speeds My Honda came with Tracmax, whilst they worked in the dry doing legal road speeds, in the wet they were rubbish After some googling reviews I tried some Hankook Ventus Prime 4's, the difference in the dry is noticeable, but in the wet the difference is chalk and cheese, IIRC they were around $150 a tyre fitted, so for only $600 for 4 news tyres, that are lasting really well, I have tyres that actually work at legal road speeds in the wet If they save me once from "an unfortunate situation" they have paid for themselves Tyres are one of those things that can save your life when driving, and as most of your time driving is in your daily, your daily tyres are more important than a tyre on a performance car that knocks of a second or 2 on the track My daughter is a copper, she regularly drags dead or injured people out of cars because they lose control, or run up the back of cars in the wet TL;DR. Buy the best tyres that might help save your life if $hit goes down https://www.bitre.gov.au/publications/ongoing/road_deaths_australia_monthly_bulletins
  4. Cheap Australian wine = yes Cheap tyres = no Simple but effective
  5. Didn't hate the 86, the non-existent rear seat space was a small issue, not my issue really though, but, as all the kids are grown, moved out, and have their own cars, the rear seats would be just extra luggage space The Minister requires 2 suitcases and a "carry on or 2" for a weekend away, typically I take a spare pair of jocks and socks, and a toothbrush.....if there is any space left, LOL In reality the 86 is the most missed car I have ever owned The R33, well, there was hate in the end for that and I was happy to see it leave In other, financial news, the broker said they probably wouldn't be able to get a BRZ tS any cheaper than if I just ordered one through Subaru as they have no issues selling the ones they have The dealers want just over $55k for a new tS without any additional bits, and I would probably need to wait for the colour I want, but when ordering a BRZ tS online through Subaru, with the colour and other accessories I want, it is around $53k, albeit with around a 6 month wait, which I'm fine with, just gives me more time to think about the cat back and wheels I want for it In other Toyota news, there is unconfirmed word that they may be releasing a new Toyota MR2 next year to replace the 86, hopefully real news and information will come out about it soonish, to either confirm or deny the talk As stated, I'm in no rush and will wait and see what 2025 models are going to be coming out later this year
  6. This was/is my main concern, IIRC, I had some of that clear reinforced on mine, from the breathers to a 1" to the can, but as the can was in the engine bay it was only a short run from the breather to the can Maybe running 2 x 1" lines from the engine to the can, and 1 x 1.5" out, as a 1.5" cross sectional area of 1.5" is around twice that of 1" From my understanding, which is heavily limited, if you restrict the breathing it can/will raise crank case pressure and blow seals and "stuff" Maybe I'm wrong, but from remembering the amount of pressure coming out of the can in my sloppy old 25/30 build, large hoses were definitely needed to "keep the pressure down"
  7. I still have bad memories of going into turn 1 at Wakefield in my old R33 boat, going sideways, then backwards, then loopety looping it The culprit was a catch can that puked oil out "everywhere" Fun times......🙄
  8. Spit balling Could you connect a boost gauge to the oil cap somehow, disconnect the can line and take a reading, then reconnect the line and take another reading to see the crankcase pressure difference? Agree it will need to be done when the engine is used in anger for sustained runs Disclaimer: I tend to over think things nowadays
  9. My brother from another mother, and probably about the same age Road test starts at 07:45. The road looks amazing, apart from the random traffic consisting or cars, trucks and motorbikes
  10. FYP "New" school Mil spec if average to say the least Yeah, I'm that jaded
  11. Is it possible to check what your crankcase pressure is? I know with hydraulics that the longer the line, the more pressure you need to move the oil Maybe due to the long single line, the crankcase pressure will rise because it is being bottle necked by the long line, maybe, maybe not, it may work great My brain hurts now, time for a snooze
  12. VAG isn't an acronym, it's just a polite way of saying a bunch of Kunts
  13. I kinda like the red, it "sort of" reminds me of my old orange one I loved As for a turbo, nah, I'll keep it stock, well....maybe just a cat back, and intake, and some wheels, and probably a tune......LOLOLOLOLOL I'm going to chat to my broker and see what he can do for me Good news is the Minister for War and Finances is onboard
  14. Went for a drive in a work mates new car, now I want a new BRZ TS..... exactly like this....yeap, here we go again, not sure on which colour, his was white, but I want a "real" colour, I am thinking red, because red is faster......LOL
