  1. Got out last week finally to do an ARDC practice day at Sydney Motorsport part on the standard circuit. Car was soo much better with the tune, could actually overtake cars and keep up with them on the straights rather than been left behind all the time. It was also nice not to hit speed cut down the straight Before the day I put on some new Federell RSRR tyres and bled the brakes. Car was good, we had good even tyre wear again and the only issue I had was the rear brakes getting hot but only when I backed off. If I kept the pace up they were ok for the 5-6 flying laps I was doing each session. Has to just be a heat thing so I will look at some ducting and remove the backing plates to ensure I get some better airflow in there. The pads are still only spares from the rally car so aren't a high enough temp rating I think also so will change them out as well. Got my time down to a 1:51.00 now with a little more to come out of it I think with some more track time.
  2. So tune is now done, picked up the car from Unigroup today. Now sporting a mean 190rwkW @14psi.. Seriously though very happy with that considering its basic mods, certainly couldn't expect anything more from it and I am keen to test it on the track as it will be a completely different car. Time to enter a track day..
  3. Yea not great, Looks worse in that pic but it actually did its job our seats/heads were untouched and both doors still open/close. It was a 100km/h 5G impact according to the incar camera and we both walked away without even a bruise thankfully. It was my attempt at making an S13 ute... Edit, Found a better pic. You wouldn't believe after replacing a couple broken coil wires and removing the guard from the rear wheel I actually drove it off the trailer and onto the hoist to start stripping it.
  4. So been just a little while since I have added to this but unfortunately later in 2016 I wrote off my S13 Rally car so rebuilding that has taken up basically all of my spare time and any spare cash has gone towards the new build so the 33 has sat in the shed looking very neglected unfortunately . However recently I have been able to spend some cash on the 33 again to get it looking/going just a bit better so we can enjoy it once again as I am seriously keen to do some form of racing whilst the S13 continues to be rebuilt. Recent purchases have been, GTR Bar/Side skirts/GTR wing/Intercooler/Apexi Power FC. Car goes to Unigroup next week to finally get a tune and then I will hopefully be out on the track soon after to see how much better it is, can hardly wait!! Finally pick of 13 in progress everyone loves some cage work.
  5. Took the car to another Rallysprint at EC last month. before we went this time i did the LSD upgrade by putting in a spare GTR diff I had with the 2 way LSD in it. Huge difference to the car as you would expect. For me it suited my driving style and made the car so much more predictable to drive. Attached run was my best of the night and was quick enough for 10th fastest outright time of the night. Plus this time we managed to win our class. Did have 1 incident with a plastic barrier when I cut the corner just a bit too much but thanks to SSS already have another one fitted in the same colour. As usual its far from the quickest car in a straight line but it really is a fun car to drive and push hard with and ends up being quicker than you would think.
  6. Took the car last Tues to have a run at Round 2 of the NSSCC Twilight Rallysprint series held around the Drag strip at Eastern Creek. Just fitted up a LED light bar and put the passenger seat back in and it was good to go. Car performed really well and the only concern I had with it was the diff again open wheeling. So Its coming out this weekend to get a proper LSD installed before I do another one. Finished with a 2:15 which was 14th fastest for the event and second in class. Only issue is first in class is running a RX7 setup for Time attack with 500hp apparently so might be a bit hard to catch haha. As usual though car had no issues and we had fun which was the point of the build anyway.
  7. One of my later runs with even a traffic free lap as well until I caught the WRX. https://youtu.be/o4YPKUHmZ28
  8. Haha yep plenty of guys just using the power at that track day for sure, then they end up holding me up through the corners. Fronts are working but on that run they were worse as they had too much pressure. Dropped them back to 35psi hot on the next run and they were better. Tyre wear is fairly consistent to be honest and the tyres are actually wearing fairly even across the tread. Think in that run it didn't help my lines were all over the shop as I was trying to work out what worked best not to mention I spent most of my time concentrating on traffic and not line choice. Being they are only 16 inch and 225 wide I imagine that is more the limiting factor as well. I'll try get up one of my later runs with less traffic which shows the car working better. Seeing it doesn't have huge power front end grip is definitely the limiting factor to how hard I can push it into a corner.
  9. Will do thanks. They are 12.5 Front and 4.5 Rear
  10. The MCA's are awesome, totally transformed the way it drives on the track. I did 1 20 minute session at EC when we first got the car running and it still had the standard suspension in it. Best time I could get out of it then was a 2:05. Although it didn't help that I had never driven the car before or driven that circuit. But the fact it is already 11 seconds a lap quicker and I was overtaking the cars that overtook me last time I was there shows a real progression in the car and me getting my head around driving on the tar again. Not to mention it really is good fun to drive now because you can attack as hard as the tyres will allow. Turn 1 is being hit without brakes I just lift at the 100metre mark turn it in and straight back on the throttle till I lift at the 200metre marker and then on the brakes hard at the 100metre marker for the 2nd corner. With some decent width tyres it would easily be another second or so a lap quicker. Then there is not actually using the second hand pads from my rally car so I could be even more consistent under brakes. Its the next thing on my To do list now, will be getting some DBA slotted rotors and new pads all round. Plus removal of the speed cut. In the mean time I think I will start putting some money aside for a computer. At the moment though it is doing exactly what we wanted from it, a budget track car to go have some fun with and as a bonus it is surprising a few people just how well it goes. Numerous times last Friday I was asked how much power it has and oh it must be super light then when I mentioned it was very stock (which it isn't - I still have lots of weight I can take out of it)
  11. Had another day out in the 33 at an ARDC practice day. Was running the original GP circuit. Best time I managed on the day was a 1:54.91 and it definitely has some more in it. The day was really busy and i struggled with traffic all day although it was a bit of fun overtaking some really quick cars. Car performed well all day and the only difference from Wakefield is I fitted a boost gauge to see what boost it was actually running which turns out to be around 10psi consistently and this time was using 16 inch semi slicks. The car was hitting speed cut halfway down the main straight which was mighty annoying and to be honest I had totally forgot that Skylines had one. Scared the shit out of me the first time it did it (thought it had just blown up haha) Bit of Incar, the white EVO 6 in front of me a lot of the time has 260AWKW just for reference. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9M0cPpc1n0

  13. Not leaking, but look close to it. When i go to fit them ill be double checking everything. I also found some wear in the driver side ball joint so that wouldn't be helping either. Will be replacing anything that looks worn whilst i am at it. New ones are spherical and do have the threaded adjustment.
  14. Ordered some new front caster rods this week, hopefully that will fix the knocking noise i had at Wakefield as they looked worn and everything else looked ok. Will give me some adjustment as well so i can wind in some more caster. Some more pics
  15. I'm always impressed with what the good panel beaters can fix without just using a couple kilos of bog. Car is Looking good.
  16. Ok noted, will do some more research on what to do. Got to remind myself this isn't a rally car i suppose
  17. Had my first full day in the car yesterday down at Wakefield Park. Was good to finally get some laps in the car and be able to try some different lines etc. The car went well with only mods being the MCA reds the R34 inter cooler and i wired the standard boost solenoid to stay at 7psi. Car went well all day with only some knocking coming from the front end which i think is the caster rod bushes. Played around with Tyre pressures a bit and then just drove it the best i could on the day. Being that i had not done an event in some years i was in a slower group and did have some issues with traffic throughout the day. Managed to string together a 1:12:90 by the end of the day. Diff was open wheeling a fair amount so ill be looking to get the 2 way into it asap. Overall i had a great day will get some in car up soon.
  18. Exciting day today, got an email last night saying suspension had been shipped from Josh and it arrived today. Looks awesome and can not wait to get it in. Thanks MCA
  19. Did a little bit more work to the car on the weekend. Started to remove bits that aren't required anymore to save weight. Also changed the intercooler out for the 34 GTT one i had, included fitting of the ducting as the original one was missing. Made up a bracket for the catch can and mounted, just need to get some hose. Thats it for the moment.
  20. I get the same from my Silvia, although mostly used on dirt the g forces aren't as bad so its not so much of a problem. From what i was told its to do with the box not having enough baffling internally and a lot of the oil rushes to the back of the box and ends up being pushed out the shifter. Really enjoyed reading this thread too, awesome work and impressive times.
  21. Cheers, yea just a basic build that will hopefully provide plenty of fun over the years. Plenty of options to change out stuff later on and i appreciate advice/opinions on the build too as it gives me something else to consider. Cage is definitely basic, nothing compared to what i would normally make up. I agree on the Diagonal bar and i will be adding that to it later on. This was really just a quick make up to get some basic safety and mounts for the harness belts. Being a joint build with my Dad he was not really keen to put a cage in it yet as he just wants to plod around in it but i felt it needed at least a basic cage to start. MCA's will be great and am looking forward to getting them fitted up. Running the Golds with Canisters in the Silvia and can not speak highly enough about their support and quality of the gear. I learnt my lesson on chasing power first so am keen to make this car handle and stop first before considering more power.
  22. Forgot to mention i also removed the A/C from the car when we did the Oil cooler plus changed out the plugs to copper ones gapped at 0.8. Timing belt and water pump has now also been replaced with new OEM parts.
