  7. Some dood made a big mess of his silver NA 33 outside my place last night along Shafston Ave, Kangaroo Point. Didnt hear too many skids just a huge bang as it hit an old shitty ford telstar and took out a bus shelter. Earlier in the night there was a silver 4 door scooting up and down the street, and I thought that might have been it.... anyways luckily nobody was injured (I think). The 33 narrowly missed a lightpole.
  8. Been having some troubles with my car in the last week or so - since the hot weather has started. Was at a carpark the other day and it stalled on me. Then Later in the day I was pulling up to a set of lights and it completely cut out, and again when I got home. Firstly I thought I might have gotten a dud tank of fuel (always use BP Ultimate). The response from the engine on acceleration is very poor and it feels like it is down on power. I think the air/fuel mixtures are all over the place. Yesterday I replaced the fuel filter and did engine diagnostics on the CPU and read 'code 12 - MAF Sensor Circuit' (air flow meter). So I think I am at the bottom of it now. Went for a drive last nite (cooler weather) and it didnt cut out like it did during the day. I am going to fill up this avo so that will rule out the dodgey tank of fuel theory. Does anyone know of any airflow meters for sale? Or anybody wish to meet up and swap AFM's to see if this is the problem before I go ahead and buy another one?? Cheers. Cal
  9. awesome... I might order tonite then.... Fingers crossed might be here by the end of the week thanks guys
  10. http://www.tempetyres.com.au Has anybody dealt with them before or know of anyone who has? They look pretty well organised. I am thinking about buying some 17in nankangs from them $120ea + $10 freight. My main concern is their delivery, as I need them within the next week or so... Any recommendations would be tops. Cheers Cal.
  11. You might not have lock nuts on your wheels? One of these 'special' bolts goes onto each wheel (replacing a normal nut) and the socket bit is the 'key'. Capiche?
  12. I am in the same situation at the moment. Went to get some new tyres today but couldnt find the fkn key. Was not happy. I bought the tyres but did not get them fitted. Spent about 15mins looking thru the car in the shop - still didnt find it. very p!ssed off, looked like a tool. Also got done 105 in a 80 zone ($250 4 points) on the way home. Havin a top weekend !!!! Will try and find the combination for the key - I think remember the guy at the tyre shop recording the combination of the lock nut about 18months ago when I bought it. Might give them a call on monday morning.... I dont like the idea of smashing a normal socket bit over all 4 of my rims and buying a new set of lock nuts....
  13. Jehn Auto parts at Burleigh. He has lots of stock parts available. Not much aftermarket gear tho....
  14. Aquaplaning is fkn scary! I first experienced it in the wet doing about 90 in my old 82 corolla (135 tyres I think) on the SE freeway outbound near the gabba. I went from being driver to passenger in half a second. I have also had it a couple of times in the 32 and it feels even worse with the hicas. How long have you had your 33 for Robz? My suggestion is to get on the skidpan or a quite wide road (industrial estate on a sunday avo) in the wet and get a feel for when the car breaks traction in certain gears/revs, and how to get out of a situation (being sideways). You gotta keep a cool head about it, dont panic with the throttle, just ease out of it, and dont fight the wheel too much.

  16. Bad news about Nissan not making them anymore, but good to hear that they are easy to get elsewhere.... I gotta replace about 3 or 4 which are missing from my manifold....
  17. Cheers for that mate, that will be excellent I will try and get the headlights fixed this week, not exactly sure where to start. Maybe a relay switch? What part of brisbane are you from? I am from the Gold Coast, but I have no worries getting up there. I was prefering to sort this out on a weekend (to aviod time off work). Will PM you soon.... Thanks for the feedback guys. I didnt really wanna stuff the coppas around because I was running late to get to the rugby at Ballymore, so I just agreed with whatever they wanted to do, and get them off my back as soon as. If I had more time I would have reasoned with them a bit more about the exhaust...
  18. I was on my way up to Brisbane last night. I got pulled over on the freeway at Springwood by an unmarked falcon. They got me for my headlights which were turned off because they are stuck on highbeam (not sure what is wrong with them), and I have been using my driving lights (which are underneath them) as headlights until I get them fixed. I explained and showed them what the problem was and they were okay with it. Then the other officer walked around the back of the car and looked at the the exhaust tip, to see that it was black (as usual). He said you must be blowing too much smoke, and I explained to him that it is running a tad on the rich side (afr's are around 11:1 when on full boost high revs, but all good around low revs) and that most turbo jap imports have the same black tip from running a bit rich. He said becuase I have modified it, that is what is causing the smoke and I explained that I had it dyno'd before and after the exhaust (on the same day) and that the AFR's were on the rich side on both runs. I also explained that I installed a new cat converter when I did the exhaust, so therefore should be okay for emissions as well. He then asked me to lift the bonnet which I did without hesitation. They looked around underneath, not too many mods there (I still have factory airbox filter and factory BOV). They looked at the 2 stage boost controller for a few seconds but I dont think they knew what they were looking at. All good there luckily. He then issued me with a defect notice for the headlights (fair enuf) and for the emissions and that I need a roadworthy cert once I get them fixed. I did not loose any points or get fined which I am very grateful for. Now a couple of questions to sort this out. I have no worries in fixing the headlights (I will figure them out myself hopefully), but on the emissions part: Where can I go to get the 'sniffer' to check the emissions of the vehicle? How is the test carried out. ie, is the car sat at idle and the sniffer put up the exhaust pipe, or is it done under no load (neutral) at a certain RPM (say 2500RPM) ??? I figure I should be okay just to get the test if it is done without the turbo spooling (no load, low rpm and therefore not fueling the engine up to produce a bit of black smoke)..... Any productive comments would be greatly appreciated. This is not a whinge thread about the police. I know that they were just doing their job and that I was in the wrong in the first place for having fuct headlights.
  19. TRY24 caught my sister speeding on sunday afternoon on the gateway motorway (near the kuraby plaza) 124 in 100 zone from 551.3m away. I was in the car with her - she picked me up from the airport. She had seen it around a few times and knew it was a coppa, but she didnt see it until it was too late..... He was uniformed. I wish I had asked him what the personalised plates meant.
  20. I just ran into smooth before, he told me about thurs nite. I might be there havent been out with a bunch of 'hoons' in a long time
  21. My flatmate has a GTI-R, and they are bloody quick. Depends on what you are after. I prefer the style & comfort of the skyline, but the GTI-R blows a gtst away in terms of performance. Just be weary of the gearbox. I know a guy that has smashed 4 boxes and is pushing out about 190kw at the wheels...
  22. depends on what sort of scene you are into?? Are you a fan of: Pubs, live cover bands & sinking heaps of piss? Omalleys, gilhooleys, landsdowne road. Listening to top40 sh!t with a million teenie boppers? the drink, shooters, rose & rown. Droppin a few disco bikies and rolling all nite? platinum & quest (broadbeach).
