R32 Pod Filter & Air Box Questions
eightsixboy replied to playboi14's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Pods are crap imo, unless they are correctly shielded they are basically a hot air intake. What u deacribed is 100% normal, as when u have a pod ur basically amplifying the intake noise. -
Congrats on prob the best GTR I have ever seen, well worth the money

Lets Talk Aerodynamics
eightsixboy replied to SkyHi_33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
This is something I to would like to know about, I'm going to be doing similar mods to mine hopefully with a aero gain. I think with a rear spoiler most people forget about actually making a support for it so it actually helps with downforce as apposed to just pushing or bending the boot. At the end of the day it depends on how much money you want to spend and how competitive you want your car to be, things like rear diffusers are pretty expensive and unless you can actually test it in a wind tunnel who knows if it will actually do anything. The main things I think would be a proper rear wing, so not your auto salon spec ones but a properly designed one which is light weight carbon or similar, I know russman got his made for him so something like that. Seeking Info- Rb20Det Intake & Exhaust Manifolds.
eightsixboy replied to INDEEP's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I honestly wouldn't bother with intake or exhaust manifolds, the only one worth getting would be a GTSR manifold but they go for crazy money. If you can keep the standard turbo just highflow it, will make around 210-230 rwkw and be alot more responsive then a 25 anyways. If you cant use the standard cooler pipes and a return flow then you might have to go a cheap front facing manifold, not sure how good they are. Cooler size will depend on boost and power levels, if you are only aiming for around 170-180rwkw then a smaller cooler wont be a problem. Unfortunently when putting a motor like this in a old car its going to be alot of one of fabricating, you might have to make your own cooler pipes and muck around with different coolers till something fits. On another note are you upgrading the fuel lines? I would hate to think how small and inadequate the fuel lines on the car would be. -
Help With Pad Choice

Any issues with the rotors bubba? I'm pretty much set on getting the QFM pads as I've heard nothing but good things about them. My only concern with the DBA 4000's is cracking, if there gonna crack on the track thats a bit of a concern. Have DBA sorted this out 100% with there new design? -
I bought the Apexi gauges like this, they are great gauges, they dont look auto salon spec and the have a warning light which you can set to what ever you want. Plus there pretty cheap compared to the din or the other options. http://www.ebay.com....=item588d444457 I mounted the oil temp and pressure on the little shelf above the a/c unit, and the water temp over the factory one. IMO its prob the best way in having a stockish looking interior. I wouldnt bother with the Defi din as they have no warning light, and the factory position is to low, on the track you want a warning light to stand out and be in pretty good view.

Help With Pad Choice
eightsixboy replied to eightsixboy's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yes I have got brackets from Unique auto sports Thought it was easier to use brackets and standard calipers rather then upgrading calipers, although its prob the same $$$, plus Im going 324mm rotors so not sure if they will work with 33 gtst calipers anyways. I'm just hoping itll be enough so solve the issues i had last time at winton, I actually didnt realise that the redstuff's arnt actually a track pad, which IMO makes them a pointless pad as why would you bother with them for street when there are cheaper pads out there that atleast will brake when cold, I hate how the redstuff's are crap when cold and still crap when the get hot I'm going to be using race fluid so with the bigger rotors to should be a good combo, I hope. In regards DBA 4000's I'm honestly to scared to buy them haha, I've heard to many stories of them cracking, shopping around for some rda golds. -

Thanks, from what I have read the QFM's seem to be really good. I have been really disaspointed with the redstuff's, crap when cold and fade on the track (prob to do with fluid aswell). -
I am trying to sort out my brakes for some up coming track days, but cant decide whats pads to get. I currently have ebc redstuff and they armt really suited to track work at all, and after boiling my fluid at winton im pretty sure the pads are cooked to. Im upgrading to gtr rotors but keeping the standard 4 pot 32 calipers, I was going to go 33 calipers but it seems like a waste of time as they arnt really that much bigger. So what pads do I get? The car will be 50/50 track and street so im not fussed about noise or dust. That was one thing about the redstuffs that annoyed me, how can u have a low dust pad thats meant to be any good? Id rather a high dust high temp pad thatll actually stop the car on the track. I have searched but there is so much misinfomation out there, 1 guy loves yellowstuffs yet another had them fall apart on the track. I just want a pad thatll not destroy my rotors and be able to handle sprints. Cheers.

Any chance of mine arriving within the next couple of weeks? Would be awesome if I got it before deca

Need Pads And Discs 33Gtr
eightsixboy replied to MUZT3K's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
What $310 each for the 5000 sereis, thats like 1/2 the list price on the dba website? Why choose Dba anyways? I've had a few mates have there rotors crack on them and they seem like a pretty soft compound. I spoke to a guy at a brake place and he doesnt really rate them either, especially for double to price of rda's you'd expect something pretty damn good. -

eightsixboy replied to eightsixboy's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
No boss kit with wheel sorry. -
1. Greddy Profec B-spec 2 Boost controller The boost solenoid shat itself (they all seem to), the actually control unit works fine. Was a great boost controller when it worked, easy fix just a matter of getting a new solenoid, I really cbf as I already have another boost controller. $75 2. Drift 350mm steering wheel In great condition $50 Located in VIC

I just checked the old tracking number you originally gave me and its still only says 'initiated' so it was never sent by the looks of it.

Unless you want to roll and pull the guards a little then a 9 +25 ish is good on the front, the rear can have wider, say a 10 but the offset has to be right. There is also issues with inner clearance on the front, especially with 18's as they only just cleared the sideskirts and front bar. IMO 17's are a good compromise between looks and practicality. 18's look better but you can fit 17's alot easier, I have just bought some 17 by 9 +22's and even with 245's they didnt really rub, nothing compared to the18's which rubbed on every corner on the back. Plus 17's are alot cheaper for tyres
-
I ran 18 by 9 +22 and with 235's it rubbed even with lipped guards and max camber on the rear, fronts were just ok with camber and caster arms. Imo with stock guards and mild lipping a 9 +22 is as low an offset as you should go. There is still alot of clearance inside on the rear so a 9.5 or 10 should fit easy with correct offset. Btw running anything smaller then a 235 on a 9.5 is stupid and dangerous, if you cant fit the wheels properly dont buy em.

Awesome Would you know what fittings sizes they are Phil? I wanna get a relocation kit. Cheers.

Im after a gtr bonnet, full carbon or carbon/fibreglass bonnet for a r32. Gtr bonnet doesnt have to be perfect, aslong as theres no massive dents or anything. Prefer vic as I imagine postage would be a pain. Cheers.

Braking Options R32 Gtst
eightsixboy replied to eightsixboy's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yea I saw the package unique autosports do and it looks pretty good. Im going to try better fluid and a machine for now as I wanna try and get till the end of the year on the current setup as the pads are new still, plus still only learning winton so they should be fine for now until I start to get quicker. Besides the shudder they actually stopped pretty good, I think maybe once they are actually funtioning 100% they will be alot better. Worst case is sell the sterns or run 5mm slip ons as I already have extended studs on the front, my other wheels have a heap of clearance luckily. Bubba: thats seems to be the most common setup, seems like a winner. -
Any news?

Im getting carpet now, to much hassle stripping and painting inside. I didnt relealise getting carpet was so cheap, just hope its lasts a few years.
