The Jetspeed one looks like a Jun front bar, 400r skirts and some unknown rear bar. T.

Walbros are a LOT cheaper than Bosch and I would imagine, just as good. It's just that Bosch are popular. I use a 044. T.

AFAIK, Xenons have less heat and power draw than normal halogen bulbs. But unless you can stump up $2,000+ and actually FIND r33 GT-R OEM Xenons, you're stuck. T.

The only thing I would say about vents is that they MAY allow ingress of water if you run open coils (ie. minus the "Nissan Twin Cam 24 Valve" cover). I realise that this is popular for people with older coils or Splitfire D1's. Water and coils do not mix. For me a carbon bonnet is coming. I sorta put myself in a situation where I need one so I'll see how this goes. T.

These cars are meant to be driven hard. To me it's like asking if your BMW M3 can be safely* taken up to 250km/h (*mechanically speaking of course). Skylines are supremely stable at very high speed. The motors are very responsive with the balance to go to the red constantly. At speed I fear nothing for the car - just the police T.

Mine's a July 1995 build and I also got the 'trick' '95 ECU, gay velour interior, metallic boot badge. Rear wing was aftermarket. Dunno if anyone earlier in '95 got all that shit. T.

Recaro dist. (Roman Autotech) will do this. Obviously will not be cheap. T.

Skylines use the Aussie S14/15 towbar package from memory. Might need to call hayman reece or your local Nissan parts dealer to be sure. T.

R32 vs R33? Pros and Cons
T0nyGTSt replied to XPL_Vspec's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Personally I think this 'common' argument is a little specious. GTS Skylines are cheap performance cars. For less than $20,000 you're not gonna get a whole lot of exclusivity. Even twice that for a GT-R isn't gonna get you into some sort of "LOOK AT ME, I CAN DUST FERRARI's" fraternity. I was looking for power, handling, braking, size (yes I like BIG cars), reasonably cheap mods and a big cabin (show me a bigger coupe interior). The 33 is really close enough. I really want that 33 GT-R - it's not twice as good but I'll be willing to pay the price to find out. T. -
How much is the credit note for? T.

500hp = 373kW At the wheels. It's been done on a 25 but it's up there. You would prob. need something higher up like Tomei 264? Hopefully not 272... T.

Should organise a 33 cruise up there T.
-
The sad fact is that there's more 33's on the road than the 32 and 34 combined. T.
-
The problem is that the media really hate us. Us and the WRX boys are 'responsible' for ram raids and extreme 'land speed records' and general motorway hilarity. And loss of Aussie jobs at local manufacturers (!) A protest cruise is just going to look like an 'organised' hooning event by the media. T.

Who is able to get me a discount on HU?
T0nyGTSt replied to MRK25T's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
Try JB in Parra for JVC HU's. Mp3 deck should be <$400. T. -
RB25 max power output with forgies?
T0nyGTSt replied to Cool Hand Luke's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Forged pistons don't MAKE any power by themselves. They provide the basis for more power, more abuse. What do the drag RB25's produce? 500+rwkW? T. -
Just let it die. There's dickheads everywhere. Some even drive Skylines. The bottom line is that this is a pissing contest. There's lot of good people driving MX6's too. I never slag people's choice of car because maybe that's all they can afford or they couldn't give a shit about cars and they got a house on the North Shore or something. All I can afford is a Skyline and that's BARELY with all the huge bills it's giving me! Gosh it's got an awful appetite for 98 octane and back tyres. LOL - it's all good though. My dad used to get slagged off because of what he drove. He has a Mercedes now - that car is a piece of shit btw. I notice that people here on SAU never get too ****y about cars they burn in drags. I've dragged off guys in HSV Commodores, XR6's, other turbo imports, blown them into the weeds and ya know what? They wind down the windows and gasbag at the lights. "Whaddya got under the bonnet?" "It's stock LOL" Guys who are just interested in high performance cars, turbos, v8's. Who cares? It's all fun. It's the rejects in their Excels and riceboxes who go have a sook when you burn them up without even getting over 4,000rpm. If I had $50,000 I wouldn't be driving a GTSt. Hey's it a nice car. 200+rwkW, slidey RWD action, C's shortshift. But it's no supercar. T.

Mark Skaiffe still owns an r32 GT-R. Why is that? I would dearly love to see Jim Richards get his arse handed to him by an r33 or r34 GT-R in the next Targa Tasmania. Man that would be the best. Full circle as it were. Then he can retire. T.

There's many of us here who run 200+rwkW Skyline GTSt's. It's no big deal. Geez even 250+rwkW. Why don't you guys run a lightly modded 170rwkW GT-R??? There's no way in goddamn hell I'd even dream of doing that. You know how that will turn out and it's not pretty T.

walk down memory lane
T0nyGTSt replied to Hiroshima Screamer's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Look at the boot! 4 x fuel pumps - hope they aren't Bosch 044's. I seem to remember that this is the one that slid into the other cars at the start of Conrod. Here's pic for you: http://www.nitroware.net/~tony/tehgtr2.jpg T. -
Why drag money into it? It's obvious that Skylines cost a fair bit to mod. If you don't want to spend the money, go home. Reality check. Yours just keep on bouncing. There's no way any of us even with highly modified GTSt's would take on a GT-R. The MX6 may be reasonably quick in a straight line but what about corners? The Mazda 626 floorplan? Hmm... that sounds like one great pedigree. You see we're all ex-Commodore, ex-MX6, ex-Lancer, ex-Ford drivers. We've all basically settled on the RWD 200rwkW+ Skyline platform. No-one here brags about killing MX6's in drags. It's embarrassing to say you killed any Mazda except a rotary (respect where it's due!) Dragging off HSV, SS utes, turbo Falcons, Ferraris, Porsches is more common. There are NUMEROUS Nissan 350z owners who acknowledge that dragging Skylines is a futile experience. The 350z is a FANTASTIC car but it's no match for anything but a stock Skyline let alone any GT-R. If 350z owners can admit that, why can't owners of lesser cars? It's because most 350z owners (being $60,000+ machines) have some kinda common sense. T.

my review on a stock airbox vs pod
T0nyGTSt replied to franks's topic in General Automotive Discussion
The way it is, I have to go fully with a pod + fiber partition + a cheap CAI. Should be able to see how it's fully like soon. T. -
approx cost to fit adjustable exhaust cam wheel?
T0nyGTSt replied to Ronin 09's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
It depends. How long is the proverbial piece of string? For me, the final dyno tune is just to cement AFR, Lambda etc. The road tune should get 95% of the way there. So I've been quoted 1 to 2 hours dyno time. And that's an avg. $100 - $200. If it was a PowerFC tune from baseline, we could be here for quite a while. T.
