  1. My PowerFC was probably the first thing I bought. The original ECU was just too full of faults. T.
  2. Mine is a lot better now. It's not the smoothest box I've ever used but then this one is putting up with 300+ crank hp on a regular basis... T.
  3. The big problem I have going thru your insurance is twofold. The insurance company I used to be with sorta held it against me that someone I was a contributing factor to this guy hitting me. Let's just say this 'not at fault' accident was something thrown back at me later... why do they have to know? It's nothing to do with them. I was given a payout by the other guy's insurance company. It was a bit more than what I would consider fair recompense because of 'pain and suffering' etc. I'm sure if I claimed thru my own comprehensive they would have absorbed that extra payout and the car would have to go thru their admitted shithouse repairer. No one wants to see an insurance company coming out ahead. T.
  4. Yeah I've got an adapter on order. Also you can get the plastic vanes that change the way the valve sounds... T.
  5. Heh! The mere title has already given me heart attack. I've bought some stuff from John and Nick and the stuff was good. This "Blitz" guy is an idiot though... T.
  6. I was at servo, filling up the 33 for like the third time that week... (such is the "Skyline life") - this chick pulls up in a white 33, s1 with some wild bodykit. I eye over her car - looks the biz with a the big rims. Strangely quiet though - not the Skylines you can hear blocks away LOL So she asks me about my car and I sorta state "yours is probably more worked over than mine". Not really... it's an auto N/A with a body kit. She couldn't drive manual nor did she feel the need for 'turbo' speed. T.
  7. I thought it was established that replacing the exhaust cam gear was pretty much close enough... you retain the VVT but you still get a bit more power, bit fuller mid range. The price of tuning will outstrip the mere cost of the gear itself though... T.
  8. Mine has a funny 'sucking' sound - like it goes 'w0000t' as you hit the power... like a bear suck on a garden hose? an industrial blower? It's sound of the Apex'i pod bouncing off the glass box or something in the tract. An open pod is even more noisy. T.
  9. $990??? An S-AFC II would be a much better investment. $990 is 2/3 or 3/4 of the way to a full ECU like an FC, EMS, etc. T.
  10. Nah I think this is just old wives tales. Apparentkly HKS gears are made of a lighter (weaker?) grade of alloy than others but it should last the life of the engine. I'm getting mine done with my timing belt change and maybe a water pump. The hard thing is tuning it - the best you can hope to acheive is 15rwkW? It may make for a fuller mid range though. Personally I'm going for OS Giken. T.
  11. $80 from Autobarn - Japanese made model. It's a VL water pump ferkeristsake! Don't get ripped off because you drive a Skyline. T.
  12. These are 15 years old. You won't get them until January next year. Would it be fair to say these cars have had a hard life? I mean I like them, just be realistic about a 1989 car of that complexity... T.
  13. Suspension is really only worth what someone will pay for it. A lot of cars come over with very expensive coilovers that are too harsh for crappy Aussie roads. You've done what I'd like to do, get it back to stock soft springs/shocks. T.
  14. GCG are but one specialist, they are apparently good but they aren't the cheapest. Look up "turbo" in whitepages. You should be able to get someone to do comparable work but cheaper elsewhere... T.
  15. A car that responds well to mods means it was badly setup at the factory. T.
  16. The big problem I have with Yankee cars is the fact they are LHD - dodgy and expensive RHD conversion. The C4 Corvette is a classic. 1984-1997. Few cars can boast such a long model cycle. Styling is great, engineering is ok with merely adequate gearboxes (4 spd + 3 spd. overdrive manual, 4 speed auto or the Commodore 6 spd manual). The body is largely fiberglass. The engine is an old school injected 350. The GT-R is a much more complex car. I would imagine general maintenance on the GT-R is easier if not cheaper. T.
  17. Lintott are expensive and having little stock. Try Nissan Waitara. Been good to me. T.
  18. Was that the biggest turnup??? Good night by all... T.
  19. I take issue with that. I have HKS hypers in my car and they handle but are too stiff. I am about to go fully soft (12 levels of adjust). If I had unlimited money it would be Teins coils with the ****pit electric control box... 16 levels of adjustment... ON THE FLY! Fully bro... T.
  20. I've found most v8 commodore drivers ok. I've dragged a few and when I cleaned them up they wound down their window and had a short chat. Polite, just a fellow enthusiast. I had commodores before and they were more problematic than this thing. In fact my 33 does not leak a single drop of oil - even with a fagged turbo and oil in my fmic! T.
  21. Well the Whiteline apples are like $110 and I didn't even look around... Installation should be cheap esp. if they have a hoist. $50 is more than enough... T.
  22. Unfortunately the headlights are sealed. I would gladly pay a far amount for a new one... but ATM it's like a fair bit... T.
  23. Well buying 44 litre drums of oil is not a problem - there were groups buys of Motul and whatever on aus.cars in the past - it's getting rid of all the oil... T.
  24. Worse. Badly faded, cannot adjust, cracked, you name it. T.
