  1. I'm guessing it's still an alternative as opposed to forking out big money and re-tuning and re-calibrating computers and things etc. Still cool how they still use and do such things.
  2. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but it's almost like a piggy back or a Apexi SAFC but it's for your Throttle and sits between that and the ECU?
  3. Interesting, so you have a separate throttle controller as opposed to making changes on the ECU? I'm guessing BMW don't let you tinker with this stuff?
  4. Hey soviet_merlin, Yeah I can imagine that stock cars that come with dbw from the factory are probably much different. I myself have probably driven rental cars and such with that technology. However, as you say the computers are setup much differently, I imagine. Dare I say the guys who set mine up for me spent some time doing some calibration and tuning etc. But they definetly have done a good job and I can honestly say that my DBW setup feels much better than the previous 80mm Throttle Body Cable setup.
  5. Honestly, it's so much better like I have no issues with any of the above. Dare I say it I did go to a smaller throttle body as well, so weather its one or the other or a combination of both I couldn't say. But I can say I think it definitely feels much better and drives much better, but yeah, I'd say calibration / setting up and tuning it properly plays a big part too. The guys who done this for me have done a great job. I can honestly say at this point it is much better that it previously was with the 80mm throttle body and cable throttle. As for people saying its slow, I'm guessing it's the kind of people who think they can do things better and faster than a computer maybe lol.
  6. Hey Dose Pipe Sutututu, I can say yup I wish I had too, I probably would have done it when I first started putting the car back together had I known such options were possible or available. But yeah the car just feels better all around and drives so much better now too. Sooo good!
  7. Thanks PranK, I'm honestly amazed at how one much different the car feels and drives due to the modern technology upgrade.
  8. Hey Lithium, Good to hear from you, hope all is well, and that's good to know, I'll try coming along to catch for one in the near future. And yeah, apparently going down this route unlocks a whole lot of other possibilities so I thought it might be the go.
  9. Hey Watermouse, So didn't use a kit of any kind, but we used a bosch accelerator pedal and a 74mm bosch electronic throttle body. A bracket had to be made up to fit the pedal along with an adaptor so the throttle body could be bolted to the intake manifold / plenum.
  10. Small Updates, Idle motor broke so have converted to drive by wire.
  11. Yeah im definitely keen, if the weathers nice and all for sure. I've lost track of where everyone goes, last time I went out would probably have been Hard Park this year.
  12. Im definitely keen, might have to organise a meet up some time or something :-)
  13. Its been a while I guess since I last updated, Ended up having to get new seats so got some R33 GTR Front Seats, and got the catch can redone so it now has a drain etc.
  14. Hey guys, was having a bit of a nostalgic moment and bought Street Fighter the 30th Anniversary Edition and was playing Street Fighter 3 Third Strike. I could be wrong but does that look like a baby blue Skyline / R32 in the corner there?
  15. Was definetly fun going for a lurk, went for a drive earlier on too after dinner and had some fun on the motorway with a Maserati Gran Turismo ?
  16. That was definetly me lol ahhhhhhhh, I think I do recall that, it was the first time id been out in like probably almost 8 years lol. I wish id seen these earlier ahhhhhh.
  17. Ahhhhhhh thats entirely possible, I was out and about. I went and caught up with a friend who I had not seen in a while. What colour? I missed ya's and only saw this now.
  18. Lol ohhhh nice, yeah I Drive it most days, as I'm not a fan of fixing up a car and just leaving it to there. Definetly built it with "Daily Driven" in mind. I used to be out quiet a lot back in the old days when people use to go meet up on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays etc. Not so much these days as cant be bothered with the problems that come with that certain crowd of people lol
  19. I thought you ment in real life for a moment there lol, interesting I havent really posted about my car anywhere else apart from here and the a couple of places on Facebook. But yeah if you do link it!
  20. Yeah I'm definetly looking forward to some better weather over this summer and go for a nice cruise or something.
  21. Managed to get out and clean the car today. Just a small update, have slowly been getting used to it. Still havent tried high boost but car was serviced and is now running descent rubber all around. Got recommended from a mate to try Potenza RE003's. And can say that the difference is night and day and they are a great tyre for sure. Car feels so good to drive and even manage to have traction in Second Gear. Over all am loving it ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Cant wait to try the high boost at some point.
  22. Hey Looney_Head, after driving it for a while now I can honestly say I dont think it has that lumpy idle either. I'm not that good at describing things really lol. I only just finally put some descent tyres on the car today and got another wheel alignment done. Car already feels a lot better to drive now, compared to the cheap Chinese Sunny branded ones that were on there. Will take the car for a descent drive in the weekend hopefully give it a bit more shit lol.
  23. Hey blah_blah It feels very nice from about 3K onwards. It doesn't feel overly laggy or anything like that. Definetly no plans for e85 as I drive the car everyday and just want to keep it that way most probably ?
  24. Is definetly a lot of fun thanks man ? The car you mentioned sounds awsome. Ive had a lot of people ask why I kept the stock manifold. I guess I just couldn't justify spending that kind of cash on something that wasn't required. Mind you I ended up doing a lot of things that most probably wouldn't do. I.E front facing plenum, but I just completely dislike the stock setup from a aesthetics point of view lol.
  25. Hey Looney_Head. Still definetly running VCT with these CAMS. Car sounds nice. When you mean lope are you talking about that lumpy cam idle?
