  1. Back here, but I'm working at the moment. Leaving next Friday so would like to catch up this weekend for sure. Saw your mum in Tumby for 5 minutes and she said you were in Melbourne so I wasn't sure if you'd be here for this or not.
  2. It seems I find myself back in Adelaide for this event. I will try to convince the wife that this is a good use of some of my Saturday.
  3. It's all about the car - I had 20% on my Statesman for 5 years and was never even looked at twice. It probably looked even darker with a black car and dark leather interior. Dark tint on an import however will be noticed. Yes it sucks but that's how it is unfortunately.
  4. I've had Telstra cable many moons ago when living at home, and it was great for the time. I won't use bigpond as an ISP if I ever have the choice anywhere again though, and seeing as they wholesale 2+ now it's unlikely that will be ever. I do however use them for NextG wireless access through my phone when on the road, and that works well. I don't think I'd ever have a mobile phone with anyone else.
  5. This is all interesting debate, ranging from defects to what is hooning etc. An interesting viewpoint occurred to me recently. We live in what is essentially a democracy, where majority rules - or so it is believed. 90% of people drive stock, unmodified vehicles. 90% of people want modified and high powered vehicles off the roads, for whatever reason. It is really only a matter of time before we are at the stage where you can't do ANYTHING to a street car. I'm sure the laws will get tighter and tighter over the coming years until we arrive at this finality.
  6. Is injection allowed in street stock? - It mentions 350cfm carbs, and I was thinking a mild 250 Cortina would be a hoot for about $2-3k total build. If injection was allowed then yeah a stripped EB/ED would be on the money I'd reckon. Open exhaust, HD clutch and race!
  7. Some of us were young and stupid once, and even if you run, they catch up with you eventually. You can outrun a car, but try outrunning the radio. Also, they have been impounding for first offences since the hoon laws came in. As Sled said, I'm not sure the crushing will ever get up over here, but I have been wrong before.
  8. Our last scan was at around 20 weeks also. Within 20 minutes of my little man being born I asked his mum how long until I could buy him his first car, and she looked at me funny. At least your Mrs gets it mate - you shouldn't have too much trouble. Congratulations by the way - you think you're happy and excited now, wait until he arrives. I knew it was going to be awesome but I could never have imagined just how so.
  9. I'm pretty sure that the permits are the only way if you actually want to drive the car to and from the event. Car trailer is the only real long term solution that I know of.
  10. Hey Nick, the first time something actually does go wrong, you can kick back and think about how much it might have cost - if it didn't have WARRANTY! Still better than the Focus I get to drive, and a prettier colour too. The only thing I never understood about these cars is why they didn't make them in an AWD version like they used to with the old TX3 Lasers etc - they were always a good pocket rocket that handled like very few things for the price. Bottom line is, the only one that has to be happy with your new car is you.
  11. Too true Martin - I remember lining up for an hour before the gates opened to be sure of a spot to race, and those cars that did bother to come out weren't really like most of what you saw on the street. I miss the track more than most, and while it might help with the problems, it's far from a quick fix.
  12. Sounds good Pete. Got a busy couple weeks, as the wife's about to deliver our first in a week or two - no doubt soon after I'll either be looking to celebrate or escape!
  13. +1, I have two of these, one for home and the other for work / on the road. Great unit, never had any issues, GOOD quality video, not like most cams I've seen. Not cheap, but webcams seem to be an item where you do get what you pay for.
  14. My only thought is that if you get a different engine, you won't have matching numbers which could prove to be a headache come sale time.
  15. Unfortunately not - took this long to have any time to reply. Damn 12 hours days 7 days a week in a foreign country.
  16. Yep, evap can eat my buttocks. I don't care how cheap the thing is to run if there's no difference with it on or off! Ducted Daikin inverter here - cost a few beans to do, but when it comes to my comfort in summer and the comfort of pregnant women and babies / small children I couldn't put a price on it.
  17. Looks like I'll be there for this now, as I won't be flying back to the USA until the 15th. I fly out of here again on Tuesday so we're left it too late for me to bring anything back. I'll take a shirt in XL though of whatever you decide on in the end. You know I'm good for the cash Nyt.
  18. The difference between tattooed people and non tattooed people is that tattooed people don't care if you're not tattooed. I couldn't give a flying f*ck if anyone doesn't like my tats, and that includes my wife. They're for ME and no-one else. However I do know how judgemental society is, so I'll only ever be tattooed where they can be covered with a t-shirt. Just because I dont agree with someone's opinion doesn't mean that their opinion doesn't matter.
  19. Cubes, perhaps you could periodically edit the first post to include links to those useful documents like information bulletin 3 and 44, and any other "gold mines" that crop up from time to time.
  20. Thank you very much for that one. One of the more useful pieces of info, and I've wanted an updated version of that document for a while now after hearing different numbers from a variety of sources. Big ups to Howie.
  21. I still prefer the ones with the pictures - not everyone drinks beer! The weiner one in particular is appropriate for the day IMO. Anyway, I'm not totally opposed to the idea of bringing them back with me, but it would depend on how many it was. Also, they would have to be able to ship them fast enough that they would get to me in the 2 weeks I'm there. We may even be able to "work something out" with postage, if I happened to send something back to work and they found their way in to that box as padding.
  22. They sure did. You saved us from a bunch of whingeing there mate, cheers. I should have had some of your sausage too. We had a blast in the afternoon as well - it was my first time, and playing with people that had done it before and were a LOT smaller targets to hit/hide I was out pretty early in most rounds. Sucks to be me, but it was some of the best fun I've had with my clothes on.
  23. Sorry Matt, I'm just reading this.... didn't it do that a couple years ago??? Hope to catch you soon!
  24. The first shirt with the dog, or the last one with the hand gestures IMO. I'm there if I'm in the country, and I'll take a shirt either way.
