  1. G'day. Have you thought of putting this ad on jxz100.com? Lots of the Chaser boys like these old girls. And yes with a 1JZ or 2JZ you have possibly the ultimate sleeper. Tell you what, I will throw a link in the for sale forum over there for you. I used to drive a R33, but now I have gone over to the dark side... cheers
  2. I don't mean to sound rude or anything, but ditch the blow-off valve (unless it is a plumb back) and make sure that the pod has a "cold air partition" around it. An atmo venting BOV on a 33 with a stock computer is just going to make it run rich as cr@p every time it goes PSSSSSHHH. An unshielded pod will be sucking hot air and you will make less power than running a K&N panel in the stock airbox. There is some good info to be had on this site, but there is some bad, even dangerous mis-info too. As a rough rule, if Sydneykid wrote it... it's good. One of the cheapest mods with the best return for a 33 is to bypass the boost solenoid so the car runs 10psi all the time rather than at +5000rpm. You won't believe the difference this free mod will make to your car. Just get a small length of pipe and pull the two hoses off the solenoid valve behind the air filter and join them together. too easy. Enjoy your car and welcome to SAU
  3. by the way, nice taste in cars. I had a '98 Series 2 R33 (40 Anniversary Special) about 3 cars ago... smooth
  4. see this fella here --> That's a fairly strong clue that it is a joke post. Not really intended as catalyst for a "serious" discussion. Ya know? No need to jump to the defence of the pushrod brigade. Quinny, you at least seem to have your head screwed on straight, your sig' says it all. "Now driving a 'line... Crummydore for sale." Unfortunatly, 90%+ of V8ers in fact have their heads up their ar$es and believe that the 185i "clubby" (or worse) that they are driving is actually fast. I mean, c'mon... My current ride (sub $10K VR4) has more power than that with just a boost controller and exhaust and it's 1/2 a tonne lighter than a dunny-door. It's faster than the XR6turbo I had, but its nothing special. I have a box in the garage with Turb, inj's, ECU, 040 pump, AFM, intake pipe, etc. These bits are a proven receipe for a 320hp 4G63 engine (240kw).... then it will be fast (enough for me anyway). "Turb's for V8ers" was/is just a bit of a giggle. If it upset you, dont read the Derift Bogan Magazine thread. that will REALLY spoil your day. <--- there "he" is again.
  5. I gotta spell it so the target audience can read it....... And I typed it really s-l-o-w because I know they can't read real fast like...... did ya ever see my Derift Bogan magazine thread? Derift Bogan It's a bit of a chuckle too.
  6. Speed limits are set for morons who can't drive in their "hasn't had a roadworthy inspection in the 15 years I've had it" $hitboxes to save themselves. Case in point, I had to make a 15km detour to get to work yesterday morning because some fluxhead had crashed through the armco on a dead straight, dead flat piece of road and the cops had the highway closed while they picked up the bits. With luck, that is one less d1ckhead on the road. What p1$$e$ me off is the "safe drivers" who do 10-15kimh under the speed limit EVERYWHERE. Fine, (if you're so incompetant that you must do 90 in a 100 zone you shouldn't be on the road in my opinion) but WTF is with then doing 70 in a 80 etc??? You want to figure out how bad a driver the car in front of you contains? Just watch their brake lights. If they are constantly all over the brakes before every slight bend in the road, but don't actually seem to be slowing down, they have no confidence and are hopeless cases who should be riding a bus. And anyone who actually thinks that slowing down will help with merging into the traffic flow on a motorway on-ramp should just be pulled out of the car and have someone "pop a cap" in their head. Incompetant fools are the biggest killer on the road, not speed. Also right up there is the crap quality of local cars coupled with the lack of a regular roadworthy inspection program. How many times do you see pictures of a car wrapped around a tree in the news along with the headline 6 Teens Die in Crash and it's a bl00dy old Commodore!! (If they'd been in an import they would have probably got round the corner). Sure this post is inflamatory but it's all true. I know it, you know it, all we need is the d1ckheads running the place to admit it. Ban Low-Performance Drivers, NOT High-Performance Cars
  7. Available now where good books are sold.

    Good Book

    From the album: PTR33's Gallery

    A great read
  9. Dude, you need a girlfriend more than anyone else in the history of the world......
  10. Actually I had a BA MkII XR6t from brand new for 6 months, did 18000km in it and drove it like it should be driven (Use the boost Luke), NEVER reset the trip computer from new and when I stepped out of it the average fuel consumption was 13.3L/100km. I am sure that a "normally" driven BA XT or non turbo XR6 would be a bit better than that. on a lighter note, I did see instantaneous L/100km figures in the 90's with full throttle 2nd gear 5000+rpm now THAT is crap fuel consumption
  11. have a look at the centre of Las Vegas, you nearly can...
  12. The XW that my brother had was a 3.6L not 3.1. In fact I had one myself about the same time and it was a 3.6 as well. I never saw one with the 3.1 "taxi pack" motor in it. And anyway, the major factor in highway fuel economy is nothing to do with maximum power and very little to do with weight, it is how much power it takes to push the damn thing through the air at 100km/h. Have a look at the shape of a XW. Big blunt front end, pi$$ poor Cd (Coefficient of drag) compared to the (slightly) more streamlined front on the later model and the much better underbody airflow treatment. Total drag should be much lower on the EL and the injected motor should be far more efficient than the old Solex carby equipped 221ci. Both did about 30mpg. IT'S A CON I TELL YOU. If you can't see that you are either blind or stupid.
  13. When I had my 33 it was a DailyDriver. I had a 70km each way commute and I wanted to enjoy it. XR6t was a daily too and now that's gone and I'm back in the VR4 it goes everywhere I need to go too. I mean why have a nice/fun car but drive a $hitebox to save a few bux that you probably end up spending (and more) to keep the heap on the road? DRIVE THE GOOD CAR life's too short
  14. I know what you mean new whiz bang 2006 2.4l turbo with 190kw (at flywheel) getting a 11.2l/100k's as stated by manufacturer and 11.9l/100k's proven on road My 1989 2.0L Turbo with 180something KW (at Flywheel) gets 10.8-11.2km/100km proven on the road and that's "normal" driving not economy run sh1te, It's got a turb for a reason... to run boost. 1bar in my case. So why bother with all the gadgets indeed? My bro had a EL falcon that did about 20mpg round town and 30mpg on the highway, EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE 1970 model XW falcon he had nearly 20 years before. Are we being conned or what? over two decades of R&D work and the same size car uses the same amount of fuel to drive the same distance??? Bu||$hit.
  15. Like I said, angle too high, can't see in window.... Amazing what you can do with just a person's name from the copyright tag on their website, www.whitepages.com.au and google earth isn't it? scary technology.............. Hope this is all taken in fun, and if I got it right and you don't like the info being "out there" I will edit/delete any incriminating evidence.
  16. No problemo... just CLICK and all will be revealed.
  17. fine if your engine is designed for it, look at how many race cars run Methanol... but more is worse in a "petrol" engine
  18. Yeah, I had USA rear and USA Slimline front on my R33. The USA fits really well where a Jap plate has come out of. I got the slimline on the front so it didn't hang down in front of the intercooler. Still same width as std slim, but no "dot" between letters and numbers, same as USA full size.
  19. Unfortunatly the dump for a VR4 is like a dump and front pipe in one with a flex section in the middle, a decent, split dump that doesn't obstruct the oil filter is not easy to get and not cheap. Almost got me looking at making my own if I can co-ordinate the borrowing of a machine shop and TIG.
  20. sorry, no offence taken dude. Looking at some other pics on geoff's site, you can see that bridge in the background of a photo of a "Car Auction holding yard". bridge in background I am guessing that this buyer (my money is on Mark Hocking) buys the cars, drives them a couple of k's down the road, "snap'snap" and then stashes them in a rented corner of lock-up yard to wait for one of us to buy them. not that there's anything wrong with that...
