  1. The teenager with a working class background in me says "get something cheap, you spoilt brat with rich parents". The father in me says "get something fairly new, safe and economical, you lucky boy to have parents who care enough and have the means to buy you something decent". Don't get a powerful car, but, likewise don't get something that doesn't steer or brake very well as they can be death traps too. Why do you need a big boot? If you don't need the space that often, maybe you're better off getting something smaller and a cheap trailer, roof racks or a pod. Khaled
  2. OLD TIMERS??!! You watch it, sonny boy! [Khaled takes his dentures out of the cup on his bedside table at the nursing home and indignantly storms off]
  3. Wow, Birds. I've just read this thread from start to finish and this was the same conclusion I came to. Only difference is you managed to put it into words, complete with phallic analogy. Thanks for the profound observation. Khaled
  4. sorry guys. didn't realise my post had garnered any attention apart from Danny's response. That, and the fact that my wife had a baby mean I've only had time to work sleep and look after the kids the last couple of weeks. My avatar has a pic of me driving my 2nd Zed back from the Bathurst 1000 in 1990. Here's a better picture of it with some background: My V8 Killer on Flickr Here's another pic of it: Would you believe I sold it for $4,100. Have you seen the prices lately?? Here are some pics of the Skyline before I put bigger rubber on it last week: @DRD-00F: It's a GTS-T. Not as grippy as a GTR but I console myself by steering with the throttle wherever possible @Black Widow: That figure may be misleading. the first 25 were worth less, in total, than the 26th one One day I'm gonna make a list.... Just bought the Nissan Service manual and have the ECU -> laptop cable on order so can't wait to get my hands dirty. Thanks for the warm welcome, guys. Hopefully I can contribute something to the community here, in time. Khaled
  5. Hi Guys, Thanks for the responses. I've found one (thanks, James). Khaled PS. This forum is awesome. I found exactly what I was after within 2 hrs of posting my ad.
  6. Hi Guys, I live in Castle Hill and my stock (I think) cat has become rattly. Please let me know if you have one for sale. I'd like to improve performance but don't want to make it louder than normal as I'm a shift worker with a young baby.... Also, around the same time my idle became really rough (smooth for a while then dipping to almost stall and surging, cat rattling each time it dips). Could a dud cat cause this? Khaled Pls call me as I don't have PM access yet because my post count is less than 10. 0423-025-102
  7. HI, Do you still have the stock cat? I'm in Sydney. I need to replace the rattly one in my S1 GTS-T Khaled
  8. Hi Aruna, I live in Castle Hill and I have an R33 S1 GTS-T. My cat seems to have some internal damage (rattling- maybe collapsed core). I'm planning to replace it but your experience has me worried. I'm happy to keep my car stock. Where do you think I should get a replacement from? Khaled 0423-025-102 (post count less than 10, too ) PS. Can't believe what they put you through. I would be furious too but I doubt they'll reimburse you without a fight. Good luck mate.
  9. I'm new to the forum and unfortunately only found out about this last night. As I'm on night shift and we just had a baby, just couldn't swing it. The kids would have loved it. God willing, I'll be there next year with boots on and my black GTS-T. By then should have restored the wheels and have all badges in place. Congratulations on the day being a success (from the sounds of it). Please post pics asap.
  10. Thanks Danny. I plan to have fun with it. My wife was skeptical when I told her over the phone that I'd put down a deposit but she changed her mind when she saw it. Even the kids have become Skyline fans overnight (4 girls). Yesterday they asked if I could take them to the video store in it. When I said we already had a video for them to watch they asked if I coud drive them to the video store and back home again anyway because they were really just making up excuses to ride in it. Had to break the news to my eldest (11yrs) that she won't be driving it in 5 years because of the turbo. She'll have to make do with the Nimbus Khaled PS. Forgot to mention this is my 31st car but I intend to hang on to this one.
  11. Hi Guys, Just bought my first Skyline and I'm lovin' it. I'm over 40 so you could say I'm reliving the glory days of my youth, hooning around in a 240Z but my 5 kids and 1 demerit point left (don't ask) keep my feet firmly planted on the ground. Used to do all my own work but haven't been under a bonnet in years so will probably ask a lot of dumb questions about this new age fuel injection thingy. Please bare with me if I do Khaled
