  1. Id wait for the 2014 models with the hybrid setup. Thats going to be my next skyline.
  2. As said it just does not work like that if you use the correct parts which I listed. If you do your own research you will understand this its pretty simple stuff really. Regarding the turbo CVT. Nissan tested this cvt behind their v8 engines of hte era (1990's) and obviously the 3.0 turbo. I would suggest this CVT can take about 350 or so hp but the thing is gearboxes are usually rated in torque output. Once you turbo a 3.5 you are playing with fire with this CVT behind it. The heat generated by the extra torque will kill it sooner or later. Again I still say anybody that turbo's one of these is nuts. I dont care what anyone else thinks.
  3. Not sure what your getting at. If you look at where the lines are routed they come right out the front of the car past the radiator and behind the bumper into some bulbus thing which is probably either a filter or a thermostat or something... I forget and I cant look into it further as I sold my car recently. The B&M cooler has its own inbuilt bypasses to allow oil to bypass when its cold I have no idea how it works but thats what they claim. I fitted the B&M cooler and derale thermostat to my own E55 AMG and it works perfectly (bypassed stock trans cooler inbuilt to radiator which is a near identical setup to the GT8) There will be a minor difference in flow (due to the cooler itself and lines) but IMHO certainly not enough to make any difference whatsoever to this CVT trans if you actually look at how a Derale H thermostat works you will understand this. The operating temp is still the most critical part of the gt8 oiling system hence why there is multiple accounts of this car spitting the dummy when you take them on track... you can watch the best motoring video to see the most glaring account of this.
  4. Just bear in mind with the additional trans cooler you were talking about that this trans (and more importantly the oil) was designed to operate at 80degrees or so. The fluid is far more likely to allow slip once it goes outside a certain temp range which could damage the toroids among other things. I have seen the testing documentation on this from when they designed the extroid cvt's and Nissan was very specific on pointing this out in the doc! Not sure if they have a thermostat built in... (they probably do) so yeah an additional cooler will help you alot at trackdays but if there is no thermostat and the temp is not properly regulated it could cause as much damage as not having one! B&M do a cheap trans coolers and Derale to good 80deg thermostats. And yeah your nuts if you are even entertaining the thought of turbcharging this car with this transmission!
  5. Mine was clicking the door central locking for no apparent reason after charging the battery up. It was clicking like pretty constantly but not actually locking or unlocking the door. Really weird. Anyway i disconnected the main drivers window control with the central locking button removed the circuit board and sprayed it with contact cleaner its been fine since.... Anybody know anything about this? It was deff that circuit board as with it disconnected it stopped straight away. I could still lock and unlock the car with the key fob.
  6. Nissans been cheaping out on their paint on the v36's imo. Iv got a pearl white 2007 v36 and imo the 2005 pearl white stagea I had the paint was miles better and had alot more pearl in it. I see the paint code is slightly different. Stagea was QX1 and marketed as a special optional paint. The v36 has QX1 R it honestly doesnt jump out at you anything like the stagea did. And yeah iv had a few black cars now. IMO the only black cars id buy are the euro's better quality paint...
  7. Yep sorted, does have a button just needed to remove the cover and stick something the right size in there.
  8. Dont think so i'll have a look tomorrow. Must be a way of disabling it.
  9. Does anybody have any experience with disabling the park lock when you have lost your key? Yeah LOL.... Just need to push the car forward a couple of meters to get it out of the way until its sorted.
  10. No its series 2, its just not the same. Nissan has never made a good auto imo.
  11. The price of the cvt8 makes them an absolute bargain with or without issues. At the end of the day a 5 speed auto (puke) or the six speed isnt that difficult a conversion if it fails just a major pain the in the ass. I nearly bought one a month or two ago at auction with "transmission issues" if it was terminal which id be suprised if it was, then convert to six speed if its done properly it would practically increase in value provided you undertake the work yourself. I totally disagree about the 5 speed with paddels its just a total waste of time on that pathetic slow shifting piece of crap. This is coming from someone who has owned both at the same time though. People should be informed before purchasing one.
  12. 1900 for a speed sensor tell them straight up to stick that and go somewhere else. They are totally taking the piss. That must include the oil change. Im sure the guy in the other speed sensor thread got if for less than 350 and even thats a rip.
  13. I doubt its the oil sounds like an electronic issue to me. Get it scanned. Obviously if theres no codes its best that its scanned when the problem is actually happening. So perhaps you could ring a local dealer / someone with GOOD scan tool and ask them if they could scan it when the fault actually occurs... if you can get it to there stealership when the issue arrises. The fact that your turning the car off and its fine again when you restart says it all really. It does sound similar to the last speed sensor one..... Also theres a sticker under your bonnet which says to change the cvt oil at 100k.
  14. As long as it comes off a GT-8 it should deff be upgraded (front not sure about rear). Other than that i dont think anyone knows the exact answer to your question... if someone does id be intresting to hear some measurements as i dont think anyone has documented it yet.
  15. Fort he rear get aftermarket d bolts and slot the subframe its far cheaper than camber arms and should be fine for all but the ridiculous drops. Rockauto do them for the 350z/g35. Even did my own alignment with them afterwards comes up great im alot lower than 350z springs to the front camber isnt that far out imo, the rear looked alot worse after the drop.
  16. Might find you scored the track spec 350z suspension? It is firmer than the standard 350z stuff. Either that or get rid of the 350z springs and buy some eibachs they are the best springs for the money around imo. Im running 350z track shocks with aftermarket springs and the ride is o.k its firm but not ridiculous.
  17. If fuel economy and long range touring with comfort is a factor the v35 is better at that. If you want a decent machine to take to a track day the evo9 is hard to beat. evo is generally a better car but also costs alot more than any v35 in initial outlay and running costs think about that.
  18. Mate theres an incredibly high chance your going to get fleeced here if you dont get the thing checked out with a decent scan tool.... Thats the last time i'll mention it. Why you wont just take it to nissan or somebody with a scantool is just insanity to me.......
  19. Dont get the 5 speed auto if you do alot of highway driving. Its rubbish on fuel and the gearchanges are tediously slow compared to the gt8 the tiptronic shifter also sucks ass. In town the auto is still worse but you dont notice it as much. I own both a 5 speed auto and the gt8 so i think i qualified to make that statement. If you can afford a gt8 with decent gen mileage on it they are great highway cars especially for the money they go for (i could argue they are better in some ways than the 6 speed even). There are probably hundreds of these things getting around in NZ now it just makes me laugh all the scaremongering thats on this board about them.
  20. So has it been scanned yet? at 47,000kms it should not need an oil change. And have you got a second opinion from another outfit? The oil runs though the bottom of the radiator and then there is another air/air cooler in front of that with filter or something there aswell.
  21. I agree the gt8 suspension is nice its just way to high. Eibach pro kit springs for the g35 are said to be the best compromise when lowering these cars. I have 350z track spec dampers and cobra springs it handles unbelievably well but is firm. I have the track spec springs aswell but i think they are just to firm for a decent ride.
  22. Can you take some photos of the inside piping im intrested aswell? FYI the main resonator under the middle of the car people in the states reckon to swap to the coupe mid muffler... i now own a late model stagea which im pretty sure has a very similar middle muffler setup to the coupe and 350z.... i cant see any reason to change to that pos the piping is actually smaller than the gt8 although the gt8 muffler is enormous so it probably cancels out in the end.
  23. Yeah i think you'll find nobodys been game enough over this ways to try anything big with them. Im sure it will handle bolt ons like exhaust, spacer and all the other stuff that doesnt make much difference. Iv seen plenty of japanese ones with the usual mods. Its funny how we now have about a million pages on here of people claiming their auntys sister had one and it blew up (i honestly think its idiots getting fleeced by dodgy dealers and mechanics if anything). Yet only one first hand case that iv seen.... was on the vq30det powered gloria that was on here (which i assume was boosted up). But no actual proof of what may have caused the damage so nobody really knows what they might take yet you can assume just by the way they work that your pushing shit up hill doing anything outrageous to them. Id love to get my hands on a gloria and just boost the shit out of it to see what happens but they arent cheap enough for that carry on yet. It would be nice to be able to reprogram the gear ratios. Imagine that... that would keep me happy for ages just playing around with that. The glorias with the exact same box had six "gears". And im pretty sure the later model gt-8's around 2004 up got like a 4.1 lsd or something like that so they would be alot different to drive if the gearbox and ratios are all the same as the old 3.6 We need somebody with some brains to get into these ecu's and make them openecu like the evo's/sti's
  24. Has anybody installed a tv unit in an update m35 (2005 350rx four)? Mine doesnt have the 3 aerial cables going into the tv unit it just has plugs im assuming the aerials are routed through the main plug. Anybody know which wires are which? Just need to work out which ones are the factory aerials so i can route them to my tv tuner?
  25. FIRST thing to do is find someone with a decent scan tool and see what the story is. Jeezus people on here are ridiculous.... oh "just swap the POS 5speed tiptronic in there".... FFS?! I'll put a dollar on it not being related to the cvt in anyway.
