  1. Hi guys, I have a tiptronic R34 GTT which currently has the stock Nissan speedo cluster which has 97xxx on the odmeter. I have managed to find a seller that has a Nismo speedo cluster which I would love to get, however it has around 147xxx on the odmeter. Without sounding dodgy, I would like to know if I purchase the Nismo cluster, would it be possible to change the odo reading to match my current reading? Many thanks, Jacob
  2. thanks man, definitely have a look into those threads. something i should mention is i did go to MV automatics and they did modify my gear box also the jump from 1st to 2nd, is way more noticeable now
  3. Hi Guys, I have been on this forum for a while, but I would like some advise on what to do next with my 34. Now I will be honest with you, I have no idea on what I'm doing when it comes to cars, but I have had my 34 for sometime now, and I think its time that I actually do something productive with it. My goal: For my 34 to get to 300kw (I should also mention its auto) What came with the car when I imported it: - Exhaust system (Looks like a straight pipe) - TIEN Coilovers What I have done to the car: - Replaced stock Intercooler with Cooling Pro Stealth Series Kit - (Not sure if this is really decent?) - Pod Filter replacing stock air box I have had a look online, and came across this guide - Now i'm not sure if this is something great to go by, but this is why i'm here so i can get some people's opinion - I understand that money will play a big role in what can and cant be done Also in relation to whatever you guys recommend, know this - I probably will not be able to do any of it lol - So if people could also recommend places in Adelaide to go to, that would be greatly appreciated Look forward to you guys input
  4. Hi guys, I am in need of doing a major service for my auto R34.I have already bought a kit incuding the following from Kudos Motorsport. 1 x *Genuine Nissan Water Pump 1 x Genuine Nissan Timing Belt 1 x Genuine Nissan Cam & Front Crank Seal Set 1 x Genuine Nissan Tensioner Bearing Spring 1 x NSK Timing Belt Idler Bearing (Nissan OEM) 1 x NSK Timing Belt Tensioner Bearing (Nissan OEM Firstly, I would just like to ask if I should purchase anything else on my own accord, rather than get it supplied by a mechanic to save on expenses? Secondly, can anyone recommend a mechanic in Adelaide to perform the major service? Someone experienced in this area, as well as charging a reasonable price. Thirdly, as I have not had a 'general service' on the car in sometime, what else is recommended to be completed on the car in conjunction with the major service? I should mention I had the solenoids, a shift kit, and transmisson service done last year. Any responses, would be a great help. Thanks
  5. cool guys, cheers for the advice. was thinking of getting my tyres through tire rack, anyone had any good experience with them? and roughly how much would i be looking at getting thes tyres fitted at bob janes or tyre power etc?
  6. yeah thats why i asked.. wasnt too sure they would just fit do you think maybe 245's all round, perhaps? im not really fussed, provided they fit correctly and they dont scrape the guards
  7. Hi Guys, I have a had a set of 34 GTR wheels that are waiting to be put on my 34GTT I think if memory serves, the wheels are 18x9 +30? I'm looking at getting a really decent set of tyres, possibly something like the pirelli p zero's or equivalent. All I'm really after is just to get the correct tyres for the rims and my car. I have been looking for sometime at getting 265/35/18's all round, but after a bit of googling, it looks like they would be fine for the rear, but would need a different fitment for the front? If you guys could offer a bit of assistance with my situation, that'd be great. Cheers, Jacob
  8. yeah might have to do that. btw i took the car for a half hour drive during the day yesterday not a problem....it might sound very weird and stupid, but the problem has only occurred whilst driving at night.
  9. been looking on other forums and stuff and it appears that people that have had the same or similar problem, have performed an auto diagnostic test: R34 GTT Tiptronic Self Diagnostic 1. Warm engine. 2. Turn ignition on-off more than once and then leave OFF. 3. Turn ignition ON with selector in "P" position and ensure A/T warning lamp is ON for 2 seconds. 4. Turn ignition OFF. 5. Depress brake pedal and move selector to "D" position. 6. Turn ignition ON. 7. Release brake pedal and move selector to "3" position. 8. Depress brake pedal with left foot and depress accelerator pedal fully down with right foot and move selector to "2" position. 9. Read A/T warning lamp flashes for codes. R34 Tiptronic Codes After a long initial 'start' flash, the A/T lamp will flash through it's full code sequence (RB20DE 10 flashes or Non RB20DE 13 flashes), but any faults will be shown by a longer flash on the relevant code number. This sequence will then be repeated until you turn the ignition OFF. 1. Vehicle speed sensor 1 2. Vehicle speed sensor 2 3. Throttle postion sensor 4. Shift solenoid A 5. Shift solenoid B 6. Overrun clutch solenoid 7. Lock-up solenoid 8. A/T fluid temp. sensor, TCM power suply or throttle position sensor power supply 9. Engine speed signal 10. RB20DE Line Pressure Solenoid or Non-RB20DE Turbine Sensor 11. Non-RB20DE Line Pressure solenoid 12. Non-RB20DE Total control signal 13. Non-RB20DE Shift control unit No flashes:- PNP idle switch/full switch or RB20DE Overdrive control switch or Non-RB20DE Stop lamp switch A lot of the forums have said that it is probably a faulty solenoid, or something to do with the solenoid. Does anyone know if this is expensive to fix? Is it a big job? As the car is really not drivable without me stopping every 10mins, I wold rather someone to come out and fix the issue, is there anyone in Adelaide that specializes in transmissions and is able to come out?
  10. no i dont know anyone with an ecu its so unpredictable....it happens just like that.
  11. ok. on Wednesday I drove it up to my mechanics in the morning, nothing was wrong, no AT light...perfect drive. My mechanic calls me up during the day, says the car is running perfectly, he took it for a drive, says it was good. He said that he'll keep it overnight, and have another look, and drive tomorrow....all good nothing happened. I then get it back and drive it home, I thought that was it. I just drove it, the problem is back. I had to stop and start my car 3 times to get back home. Im getting sick of this, I cant even drive my car.. What could be the problem? I think its an electrical fault somewhere it has to be. If u can imagine me starting the car, drive it down the road...then all of a sudden AT light comes on, gear changes and the car wont accelerate....WTF? *If i put it in tiptronic after the AT light comes on, it is in 4th and wont change, till i stop and turn off the car. ***when my mechanic had it, the only error code that came up was something to do with air flow, but that didnt seem to be a problem he said, as he took it for drives and said it was running great...he said that it would most likely be a faulty sensor, and not to be affiliated with the A/T problem
  12. When I start my car up AT light goes on and then off straight away.... Whilst driving for about 10 - 15mins AT light comes on, gears jam up and as i put my foot on accelerator revs go up, but i dont go anywhere maybe like 20 kms at most. I then turn the car off and start it again AT light goes on and off straight away, car changes gear but it still doesnt feel quite right. The same thing has happened twice now, i am taking the car to my mechanics tomorrow to have a look, he said he has never heard of the problem and thinks it may be an electrical problem and will have a look at the computer. Has anyone heard of something like this? Im pretty worried. I recently had the car serviced as well as a transmission service too. But i havent driven the car in the last week which did cause the battery to die, i recharged it and the car started, but would the battery dying affect the transmission? Thanks
  13. *It doesnt have to be places all the time, it can also be other things e.g. a photo with your skyline parked next to another skyline....stuff like that too
  14. Im not sure if this had been done on the forums before, but the other day I went on another car forum and saw that some guy had started this photography challenge. It caught my eye, and thought it would be great to start on Skylines Australia. The rules are simple: first a user would choose a place to take a photo eg. Mc Donalds; and the first person who could take the photo with their car in the shot (in this case a mc donalds with a skyline) would win. The person who took that photo would then choose another place and so on... I think it would be something great to do, even if it doesnt last all that long. I guess i might as well start: - a photo with your skyline in a shell petrol station
  15. @GTSBoy So in the sense that more power requires shorter shifts..... If i am to mod the engine, would i be better off getting a shift kit after i have done these modifications, and getting a shift kit that can maintain that power? too be honest with u, i dont know what mods i'll be doing next, and thats why, when i was looking thru the forums i noticed that the majority of people who have auto's whether they have smaller mods or have done extreme mods, on average i have seen that people have installed stage2 kits. I dont have all the money in the world to turn my car into a dragger, and i dont plan on racing at all. Im not the type of person to take the attitude of being 'cool' cos i have a skyline either, all i want is my car too be responsive when changing gears in tiptronic/auto.
  16. Okay. But in regards to actually getting it done by a place that specialises in it (MV Automatics). What stage shift kit should i be looking at; i have noticed a stage2 is the most common for people to get
  17. Well im going to be installing a cooling pro intercooler before i get the shift kit installed. Other than that so far, there isnt much work done yet I guess i would like to do some more mods in the near future, so a kit that would give me that option would be handy
  18. As the title suggests, i am after shift kitting my R34. Too be honest, i dont know much about them and how it will benefit my existing auto gear box, I have just been told its the way to go if u have an auto. i have been searching various threads and i have notived a lot of people are going to MV Automatics in SA to get their's done, i have also noticed their are different types too (stage1, stage2...). What would be the most suitable shift kit for a daily drive, but has that extra punch too? On estimate, would anyone know how much i would be looking at incl. installation? Cheers
  19. Would 255/35/18's be suitable for my wheels though?
  20. Hi, Have just bought a set of R34 GTR wheels, which I think are: 18x9+30 Am after some tires, and am interested in a set that would cost me around $1000. Looking for low profiles, long wearing, and reasonable grip for general driving. They'll be going on a R34 GTT I was looking at a set of Kumho KU31's 255/35/18, but not sure how much they would be, and if they would be suitable. Thanks, Jacob
