  1. strengthening in terms of what ? block has been rebuilt with decent forged internals. oil channels have been redrilled for size and correct angles for max flow purposes.....oil return / breather kit has not been installed yet - from what I've been told and read, not too sure on its effectiveness. basic list from what I can remember includes oil pump, fuel pump, injectors, oil cooler kit, oil sump baffle, water pump, all belts, conrod & main bearings, clutch, fuel pressure reg, forged conrods and pistons with cooling channels, camshafts, fuel rail, crank and head stud kits, electric fans, oil catch can, intake plenum, manifold, wastegate, twin BOV's, intercooler, oil moval kit, radiator and heater piping, braided brake lines, front and rear mounts, air filter kit, pulley kit, harmonic dampener, gakset sets, cam baffle plates, haltech unit, EVC6, Endless discs and pads, ignition coil packs and the list goes on and on lol....... Obviously I haven't mentioned the work done like balancing of crank, oil and water channels etc etc.......if anybody else has further suggestions, please share.......you guys have so much more experience at building these blocks, and I'd like to avoid expensive school fees through stupid mistakes.
  2. Hi Guys - just a quick update....car was finally licenced in December last year.......even though all my paperwork was correct - it still took the government 8 months to licence the damn thing. Customs has been clamping down heavily on imports over here, and confiscating vehicles to the value of millions every month at the moment. Anyway, here are a couple of pics - block is built - just a couple more custom piping issues and then the run in and tune - going for 50/50 mixture with eth. This block determines the big build - just trying to work out many headaches, and since we don't have many skylines over here, everything is a steep learning curve. For now this setup will only run a 6262 .
  3. here's a pic before I put in DAN666 LED cluster (had already replaced the tail light led by then).
  4. zebra - Johannesburg just under 1800m above sea level. Really slaughters our NA cars up here. thanks for other info so far guys - I have source a nice plenum from RIPS complete with a 90mm TB. And I've ordered a new vented coil pack cover from Joe at Powerhouse as soon as they finish with it. is the HKS twin magnifier worth the spend ?
  5. Nismoid, Just out of curiosity, wouldn't a major contributing factor in my case be the fact that I'm so high above sea level ? (based in Johannesburg). Would I still be able to do all that with the factory setup ?
  6. I know heheh, I'm a power whore. Had a 500hp Evo on stock internals - pockets not a problem - my lack of brain power is lol. Just interested in toying around with the ecu. Impressed with Vipec, just not sure of its capabilities with Skyline. BBK and suspension parts have all landed already. Manley turbo tuff rods and CP pistons here - and then pretty much complete tomei internals. Will run dual external pump setup later on. Custom built oil coolers, radiators, oil coolers already done. I want to track the car once it's around the 600 mark, and then ultimately set up another block for 1200, based on what I'm learning with the current block. Custom built exhaust manifold done, and all gaskets, seals and belts are ready for replacement. ATI damper already here. I'll setup the car info on the other forum, and you guys can agree or disagree with the build thats starting on Monday. Please feel free to rip me apart - we don't have many skylines here to learn from, so most of what we do here is through trial and error and internet surfing.
  7. no, it will be more track oriented. I intend squeezing out 1200hp on the build eventually, and don't feel like purchasing new parts every time I go up a level. Did that too often with the Scooby and Evo, and end up paying tons in school fees instead of doing it correctly the first time round. You think the stock plenum will suffice for 600hp for now ? And is the haltech 2000 system better off single throttle configuration, or 6 throttle, or doesn't it matter ?
  8. running a Garret 6262 with .81 AR single setup. I'm concerned about getting enough flow to #6, so want an enlarged plenum and throttle body design. Also going to be the first one running a Haltech unit like this in the country, so not sure what to expect really. I can give you full spec list of what's sitting on my floor if you like, and you guys can critique it.
  9. I believe somebody in Oz makes a pre-made kit for the oil return breather in the head ? Can somebody give me pics and details of who does it please ? Thanks Darren
  10. Hi Guys, I bought a 99 V spec R34 - in the process of modding. I bought a Sunline Racing 76mm Single throttle body - and brought in the Greddy intake plenum - but I see the plenum is for multiple throttle bodies only. Who makes an intake plenum for my car that bolts on with a single throttle body setup ? On a side note, thanks to Dan for sending those LED lights all the way to South Africa for my car. I will post pics once my car is complete. thanks Darren
  11. Dan, Sent you email about the lights - can all the lights for the R34 be exported to South Africa ?
  12. Hi Guys, Wife is flying to Oz in 3 weeks time to visit her sister, and I want her to bring me back some Gtr labelled clothing like warm tops and jackets - but I can't find any sites retailing these goods. any help appreciated. cheers Darren
  13. Hi Guys, Name is Darren. Sold Evo 8 to buy my first skyline, R34 V Spec. Problem is, only one of a handful in the country, so info very hard to come by. It's bone stock for now. I'm trying to source a complete list of mods to bump power up to 600hp, but want to keep the twin turbo setup - I want the drivability and early spooling is a must. anybody point me in the right direction ? thanks
