  1. I'd like to know this too, as I'm planning to go with the blade type AF sensors as well.
  2. R32 (maybe R33/34?) boot/trunk lid lock remove and rekey Thought I would do a quick write up on how to remove the lock assy from the trunk/boot lid and re-key/re-code it to work with your existing door locks and ignition assy. I used the help of a video from YouTube for the actual re-key part, it made everything very simple. Tools required: Socket wrench and 10mm socket 10mm box end wrench Needle nose pliers Set of precision/jewelers screwdrivers This video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FX2AH9-isPA *Optional* Small dainty fingers you got from your mom's side, not manly sausage fingers like dad First step, get your boot/trunk lid, and flip her over, nice and gentle.:nervous: You should see two 10mm bolts holding on the catch or latch assy (not sure what to label it). Remove those bolts and pull off the assy. I will say, looking back, this "might" not have to be removed, but it made it easier for me to see behind there for the actual lock assy. Next, you'll want to locate the flat piece of metal holding the lock assy on. It has enough of a catch on it for you to get your finger on and pull whichever direction to get it off the lock assy. As far as I can tell, this is what helps hold the assy onto the lid. So make sure you don't lose it and/or bend/break it. You should now be able to push the lock assy out the lid. Now, move over to your work area so you can begin disassembly. From here on out, I pretty much followed the video's instructions, pausing it each step. Of course it's a different vehicle, but they work the same way and have similar parts. Make sure to take your time and DO NOT lose any of those springs! Pay attention to the direction things were before you remove them. I would even go as far as taking pictures on your cell phone before doing a step, that way you have a reference to go back to in case you get stuck. The precision screw driver is a must, made it so easy to get parts off and pry little tabs up. *NOTE* how the black metal cover appears to be angled, make sure it goes back the same direction* Here I just stuck the screwdriver in between the spring and twisted. Here I paid attention to which tumblers went down and which stayed up. That kind of helped in figuring out which to move around, since they all should go down when the key is stuck in. Just pry em' out! Turn over (maybe give a lil love tap, gently). Be careful! Of course i kept them segregated, I just made one side top and one side bottom in my head and kept them that way and in order from closest to where the key goes in to the end, just in case. Switch them around, til you get the key to go in and all the tumblers go down. Sorry, no pic of that, but should self explainitory on that one. Basically switch back and forth between these two steps: until they all go down and you can rotate the assy with the key inserted. IF you get them all moved around and one or two won't quite go down enough to be able to roate it, then you might have to file down a tumbler, til it works. I had no issues, matter of fact, had one and a spring left over, haha. :nervous: Re-assy is just reverse of steps. Hope this was helpful to someone. Please feel free to make any corrections or give any tips.
  3. Pm'd. Can't call/text you since I live in Okinawa.
  4. I'm in Okinawa, don't think i'll be making it to any meets any time soon, but maybe i'll see you around up in mainland some time at an event or something. Haven't been to any drifting or super gt races yet, I'm dying to go to one. I've been to TAS many times, kinda too crowded for me nowadays.
  5. Odometer reads 147,xxx km. I have no idea how many km is on the used engine, I guess I could go by the stealership and ask, but those guys are either honestly dumb on the cars they sell or they play dumb to keep from having to be liable for anything. there is a sticker on the radiator fan shroud I believe, i'll snap a pic of it, but that's the only one I see (that's non-factory looking to me). as much shitty luck as I've had with this car, it wouldn't surprise me if it's not been changed, hell it might just be some bailing wire and duct tape under the damn cover for all I know. so many problems/surprises with this car...ugh. how do you input the vin in FAST? I have a "friend" who has a copy of FAST and can't seem to figure out how to use certain features on it, like looking up VIN's.
  6. Yes i do and it matches the blue plate, so that's good. They informed me before and after I bought it, the info about the motor, so i knew it wasn't the original. But, like I said, they said it was "newer" AND "lower mileage". On the paperwork i got with the car it says "used engine ". So, I'm guessing if I tried to take it back and tell them i want my money back and to cram this car, I'd have no ground to stand on. Le sigh....
  7. Well that's the problem, it's not on my plate it's on the engine. I know my chassis is a 1993, i can still post a pic, but supposedly the stealership i bought it from here in Okinawa said it has a newer, but lower mileage engine in it, not the factory one (not sure what happened to it). So newer would mean to me 93+ model year engine. But i have reason to believe it's in fact NOT newer, so I'm a bit curious. I'll see if i can get better look at the numbers, had my wife look at it and she said it looks like the first number I posted, 017857. So i dunno....
  8. Can't edit my post, i think the number is actually bnr32-047857, not 017857...
  9. I have looked around and can not find the answer to my particular question, so figured I'd ask if anyone here might know the answer. Just trying to find out if the catalyst/catalytic converter from an R32 RB20DET will bolt up to an R32 GTR exhaust system? I can't find out any info if it will bolt up just fine or not. From what I've seen looking at sites that sell aftermarket high flow cat's, it usually lists them for all model skylines, but again, I'm not gonna make any assumptions. Thanks for any help!
  10. thanks, i'll get some pics up as soon as I get off work, haha. current mods, just some cheap filters, no name cat back exhaust, hks coilovers, enkei rpf01 wheels, recaro seat and momo steering wheel. all I can see thus far, bought it this way from a local dealer on the island. I'm still digging into it and basically doing any and all maintenance and getting it back up to where it should be when it comes to condition. not really any major rust, little bit peeking through on the passenger side rocker and a chip on the roof that's started to surface rust. paint is in crappy condition (need a good correction with the buffer and polishes I picked up). for future mods, there aren't any at the moment. just going to keep fixing things like weather stripping, paint, seals, gaskets, timing belt/water pump... just start in an area and get it back to oem standards and once I'm happy, then i'll do major upgrades. I'm hoping within 1 year to have it to where I want it and then ferry it up to mainland and take it to Mines to have the engine refreshed and a few goddies installed and tuned. my next thing is fixing this strange gap between the door and front fender side skirts (i'll show pics of this as well). i wish i knew what it was like to have it back in the States, but I'm stationed in Okinawa for 4 years, as much as i love it here already, i might do another 4 for total of 8. i just love it here so much, i never wanna leave unless it's to move to mainland. 33's are allowed Stateside but only for certain years as they were the only ones brought in by MotorEx to be tested by transportation/epa. you can bring them in under show/track only but it's just as hard. right now 25 years old is the easiest way to bring them in which means 89's and now some 90's are legal. of course all the importing companies are charging $22-26K U.S. for R32 GT-R's and around $10-12K U.S. for GTS-T's. that's damn near what they cost in 1989!!! i paid $9500 for my GT-R here and i'll try and bring it back with me if i go back to the States in 4 years. if i stay longer, i might get rid of it and get an R33, love the flow of them (the poor bastard stepchild of the GT-R's )
  11. Finally decided to use my account I created a while back instead of lurk. Been living in Okinawa for a few months now, originally from the U.S. Just picked up a 1993 GT-R in Crystal White. Have some pics, i'll get them up later on. Still learning about the car, but love it already. Not new to cars, mostly been a Honda owner (Integra, Civic, Prelude), did have a 92 S13 for a few years, just sold it to my brother before I moved here, so it's in good hands. Anyway, not sure what else to say. Just been reading a lot of threads on here, gaining knowledge and trying not to be the guy that asks questions that have been answered a million damn times. Cheers!
