  1. Can anyone recommend a good experienced mechanic/workshop in Melbourne (preferably East) that can diagnose/fix engine problems on my 07 V36 Skyline. This is a very low K car that's never had a problem before. It started to miss on the highway today and wont idle now. I would like someone to read the error codes as first step in diagnosing the problem. Any tips or traps welcome.
  2. I havent done it but its supposed to be very easy. There were descriptions of how to do it on some US forums.
  3. Worst case scenario: Low oil pressure causing timing chain to rattle Oil is leaking inside timing cover because a gasket has broken under a cover plate - see the pistol shaped plate & the broken gasket poking out . Do an oil pressure test to eliminate this possibility - hope its not this, however it sounds suspicious.
  4. Yes, I would plan on replacing the cabin filter, as its not really that hard a job. If there is a mould smell - perhaps the drain tubes are blocked and any excess moisture is still sitting in the aircond unit and attracting mould into the car. Sometimes mould grows on the internal aircond plumbing. I have read about a spray-in product that will remove this mould but I have not used it myself.
  5. I recently put a new carbon micro filter in my V36 cope. If you know the dimensions (measure the old one?) you can look through the Ryco catalogue on the net for the right size & part number. The length was not quite enough for my "S" model, but it was close, so I used some stick-on draft excluder foam strips (Bunnings) to pack out the filter ends & fill in the gaps so all the incoming air goes through the filter. The following Ryco filter is used on a lot of Nissan models & this one is carbon impregnated. Part RCA113C Type Cabin Air Filter End Material Height Overall30.00mm Outside Length221.00mm Outside Width200.00mm
  6. Hi Scarf Did the suggestion work? Do you now have colour in the panel screen? I am curious to find out how this works out on a V36 Peter Melb,
  7. Hi Scarf There is an interesting thread presently running that uses an IPhone 4 see: Video In Motion Solution, Cheapskate - DIY Job for those with iPhones Its for a V35 - but I wonder if it could work on a V36 with the av input plugs and the V36 JDM TV?? Peter Melb.
  8. I too, would love to have an answer to this. I am surprised you found anything on your Music Box that you want to keep! On my Music Box there was some nice 'traditional' jap music (sort of Shintaro background stuff ) but the rest was a sort of eastern version of western crap. I think my car must have been owned by a middle aged executive.
  9. Dean - I think the chrome boot lip is the Standard fitment on the JDM 370GT, and the full length spoiler is an Optional extra. Here is a 'real' pic of rear of my car. There may eventually be chrome lips available for sale as aussie owners upgrade to full spoilers. A plus for V35 owners is that there is a rear camera hole built into both spoilers. Peter
  10. Thanks for sharing David - I am a new V36 (07 'S') owner and I realise that I need to know a lot more about the features of this car than I can easily figure out myself. For example getting the Bluetooth Phone to Link was a real pain. I needed to call on my teenage son to do it for me. Now he knows more about my new car than I do - always a dangerous situation !!!! 11. Does anyone understand / speak KOREAN???? There is a Korean site that advertises a SPEED LIMIT CANCELLER (SLC) for the Skyline / Infiniti / Z 370 series engine. There is a YouTube video to prove(!!) their claims. Does anyone know if cars a speed limited in Korea, like Japan?? It also looks like this module is sold in USA Check out: http://www.0motors.co.kr [ this is a crappy Google translation ] Infiniti SL, C (Speed Limit Cancler) released! 12. Yes - those 'sway bars' are well spoken off on the US Infiniti board. When I get used to my car I might get a set myself. With regard to the Delimiter - I found a Korean site that advertises one for the 370 series engine. There is a YouTube video to prove(!!) their claims. They want 480,000 won (~$347) for a Infiniti G35 and 680,000 won (~$491) for a G37. Seems kind of pricey just to remove the speed limiter.. ************* I tried to send them questions but got no answer. I suppose I will have to find someone who speaks Korean (and understands electronics) so I can talk natively to them. I have been pushing my a lot this weekend and its been very responsive and stable - so I will have to raise the bar a bit!!. Peter (Melb.)
  13. Your comment about " swerve to the right a lil bit " has me worried!!! A quick and easy tip would be to get the front wheels individually balanced to the highest speed that your tyre shop can manage - the rims are very vulnerable to gutter damage. If it fixes the problem, good - if it doesn't, you havent really lost anything but a few bucks and you can move to the next thing. I was looking through the US Infiniti site and found that there is an easy adjuster for door window height. Hopefully we have the same thing on our JDM cars. Has your car had a door window tint film fitted after-market? Perhaps the tint installer mucked up the window height. (from US site) When u open the door right next to the switch that lets ur car know the door is closed there is a screw, if you turn that open the door window will go up to the max up position. the screw is located directly below the button on door jam, turned it 1/4 turn CCW and the window fully closed PS: keep us posted if/when you sort out the speed limiter Peter (Melb)
  14. Hi WeezzerR I am a new forum member with a V36 Sport (auto with nav, rear and side camera). There are some suspension & brake differences between the V36 Base and Sport/SP models, perhaps this is the difference you notice?? One thing I did notice when I test drove various cars, was the difference the tyres made (noise - handling - etc). Maybe this is what you are feeling, or else there are other differences which I naively put down to tyres! This 'difference' was enough to make me determined to buy a S or an SP model with 19inch wheels. I have no experience with any of the previous series; but mine seems rock-solid at speed (so far!!!!) When you say 'high speed cruising' do you mean at speeds approaching where the Limiter cuts in ? Can you please contact me if you have 'dealt' with the limiter issue - as I haven't yet & it seems that V36s are different in this respect to the V35s and other models. Peter (Melb.)
  15. Chris Rogers Audio Express Brisbane put an aftermarket Cruise Control in my newly imported V36. He used the Factory buttons and display lights so it appears exactly as a factory installed model. This is a non-adaptive cruise unit that does exactly what YOU request. In the US the adaptive cruise is the most under used option installed in the V37 Infinitis (they also have a 'standard' cruise fitted which is what people use instead). I think cruise is only available there if you pick the Navigation Option as well and this make it a quite expensive add-on for something thats hardly used. It could be the same in Japan, I suppose? When I was looking for my V36 over 6 months you hardly ever saw a car with cruise. Chis Rogers did a fantastic job and I highly recommend him if you want Cruise fitted to your V36.
