hey quick question, with this dipstick there are no markings, just the bends. Where should the oild be? My old car had little holes through which showed where the oil should be but Im not sure how to read the one int he picture. Any help?

I have a 350gt skyline, if that might help.

Hey guys Need some people with more experience than me about cars to give their opinion. This issue is: I got my car recently serviced during the week. The mechanic said everything was perfect see you in 3-6 months. Now over the following days a series of oil puddles popped up in my garage. I looked underneath my car and at the front of the car (between the battery and radiator) it was all shiny black and oil was dripping. Perfect, all mechanics are closed till the new year and I won't be able to drive my car. I then popped my bonnet to check the dip stick and suprise, suprise the dipstick was not in correctly. It was sticking out and on further inspcetion I could see oil on my z pip and down the side of the engine. It was disapointing because i take my car to a respected import mechanic in sydney and a little mistake like this has made my engine all dirty and my car unlikley driveable till I take my car back in the new year. What I wanted to know from you guys if i should be able to drive my car. It would be extremley coincidentel if the leak is coming from some place else so i assmue that the dipstick not being in correctly is the source of the leak. I have attached two photo's below, one of the dipostick and a leak on the floor. The leak on the floor gathered after the car being parked in that spot for one hour. In summary: Can i drive my car with the oil thats available in the engine or has the car dropped too much oil that it is not safe to drive. I have maybe drived between 100km-200km since the service and no warning lights have popped up on my dash.

Dude if you have the skills part it out. The windscreen alone can go for $500+.

Typical Victoria (Australian Police in general). Why is so much emphasis put on driving related "crime". Last year there was something like 1300 deaths on our roads in total (falling in real terms year on year if you account for population growth) while there are many more preventable deaths that take place in society like suicide that can be addressed. Once a week minimum someone throws them self in front of a train but its never reported. With the police they are sort of lazy (not their fault) they just want to quote statistics so it looks like they are doing something. How many times have you heard "we breath tested 5000 people last night" etc etc. We as a society demand value for money so cops go for the easy target, speed/drink driving enforcement. They can parade around that they stopped a repeat offender (like above) which makes them feel warm and fuzzy but if they helped say a young person with low self esteem who wanted to commit suicide there is no praise in that because the number of people they prevent from committing suicide doesn't sound as good as "Stopping that soccer mum driving 50 in a 40 zone with kids around". Getting back to the original OP, of course they did a great job stopping someone who puts everyone else on the road at risk, its just the emphasis on this country on road related "crime" is f**king ridiculous.

Hey, a bit off topic and I know you can't give too much detail away but I wanted to ask you a question about prohibited vehicles for P platers. I'll set out a scenario as its the best way I can explain it. Young green P plater is driving a Holden SS, he has de-badged the car and its registered in in mummy or daddy's name. When you scan the rego it obviously shows all the details of the owner and car, when it shows the cars details does it come up with: 1) Prohibited vehicle for P plater 2) or The type of car and you have to use your own knowledge or check a list to see if its prohibited 3) Type of car (make and model) with it also saying V8/supercharger or turbo. Reason I ask is I have a friend who drove a V35 which is a high powered V6 while he was on his P plates (has full license now). He was pulled over twice while on his P's twice for random breath test (1 Booze stop, other random pull over on a long weekend), They took his license back on both occasions to the car and checked everything out & they didn't pull him up on it. Was he just lucky or is the V35 not in the cop databse.

Same sort of situation, anyone know a place in Sydney that can install the double Din unit as well as keeping the factory screen in for the trip computer. Thanks.

Damm what a nicely timed thread. I just put on a set of QFM HPX pads bought from GS Rally Spot a few months ago onto my V35 and the screaming is pretty bad. Ill give it time to wear in but ive done about 1000-2000km in them and they squeak like hell. I can even hear it with my windows up which sucks =(, ill give it another 1000-2000km and replace if i can hear it with the windows up still.

Hmm, very interesting, usually some people will take justice into their own hands after knowing who did the crime and where they live. Bravo on not going ape shit. Although I'd just torment the bitch via childishly sending pizza orders every now and again buy a trailer and happily leave it parked in the same spot 24/7, 7 days a week and pay the registation happily and finaly chuck in a few prank calls every know and again from a pay phone at the early hours of the morning.

Eeeeep that unattached hose means the engine is sucking unfiltered air into the engine which could contain dirt particles. Get that shit back on ASAP!!!!! Although i have seen other people and heard of other people opening their bonnet and finding this hose not attached and there was no problem at all. Its just luck if it sucks in a lil rock and blows the engine (worst case scenario)

Yes!!! be very careful when buying from Japan. Without a trusted contact in Japan and when importing yourself you have 0 warranty. If you buy from a dealer in NSW you most likely get 3 years warranty and peace of mind.

zzz not condoning his actions + doing 130 in a resi zone is stupid but a lot of school zones need to be removed. Especially the ones that are on main roads and have had a pedestrian bridge built or there are fences 6ft tall in the medium strip to stop people from crossing the roads. Also look at removing some on roads near high schools. No offense but i was taught ever since i could walk how to act around a road and how to look right then left then right again. If high schoolers don't know how to act around a road and how to cross a road safely then they should just drop out of school now and focus on their career in the fast food industry.

i swear to god its probably profitably to buy one of these cars and part it out. For the windows alone in Aussie you could probably sell for 3k for all 4.

THATS THE THING HIS FATHER DOESNT WORK IN HIGHWAY PATROL............. I guess that because people on this forums are so involved in cars they only concern themselves with laws that directly affect them. I bet if you asked any average joe about the severity of a p plater driving a turbo car they would say its not that illegal (being a 7 demerit fine) over say someone who is doing 30-45+ in a school zone and only lose i think 6 demerit points.

ummm the thing about p plate laws is that "normal police officers" dont take notice as they dont give a shit about road rules as they are to busy attending to "real" police business. I have spoken to a cop who deals in assault/battery cases and even though he is a general duty officer if he saw a p plater driving a turbo he said, FROM HIS OWN MOUTH that he would let them go and be on their way as long as they are not ripping burn outs or doing anything wrong. Im sure his father would have knowledge of the law but you must understand most general duty officers dont even know what a turbo looks like or the difference between a commodore or a falcon besides the badges which say ford or holden.
