:-(... Do U Think My Baby Is A Write Off?
xntrq replied to tara's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
As usual, i forget to attach photos. but uploading soon. Is your car insured for under or close to $10k? Edit: Photo attached. Also take out any non-standard bit if you can, swap the wheels with stock. I wouldn't go too far to mess with any mechanical though like your exhaust or whatever mods you got in your engine bay but -

nah man, I'm quite sure that would be a write off unless you are insured for about 10x the value. your front damage appears to be very similar to mine. See attached. My car was insured at the exact value i got it for. repair bill JUST for that would have been well over $10K (as they said anyway, but another assessor on here has told me that it also depends on the repairer you go to, and that the one I went to was more of a General repairer. There was an import specialist like 30CM away that I could have went to and MAY have not got it written off). -

I'd be surprised if its not a write off. Rear ended at 80KMPH, hitting the car in front as well so front and rear damage. Comparing it to my repair bill just for bump to an actual crash. -

whats the damage? my 34 was written off recently simply for the fact that they cannot source the parts or it costed too much to source the bits. I could have fixed it myself for about 2.5k. although I rekon my hit was at about 10-20 Ks. it still ran fine and was in mint condition but still written off. Just re-read your post, if she hit you at 80KMPH, definate write off hands down. pics would be good too. where are you located? -

Alright guys, so Insurance is paying me out and I'm not entirely happy with the result. As in their PDS, they say (in short): - Your policy will end - Deductions made in according to unused CTP/on-road costs etc. - They take the car I'm not happy because I'm not at fault and I'm losing out on at least $5K easily. They are paying out less than my agreed value, which the agreed value was the exact price I got the car for. I had to add on top of the buy price a few thousands for RTA/RMS costs, CTP and comprehensive insurance which costed me the good $5K. Seeing that I'm not at fault, my insurance policy has ended, my CTP, on road costs would need to be refunded (what remains of it) to me, put my plates into storage and pay more money to get new plates since the front one is crushed. Now I have to pay more money to buy another insurance policy, CTP again, on-road costs again, number plates again, also put more money into buying the same car (about $1500 more). Realistically I'm getting half the agreed value... Anyone know what my rights are?

Hey man, I used these guys: http://stores.ebay.c...t-current/HID-/ Low beam: 55W Ballast, H1 8000K HID Bulb High Beam: 55W Ballast, 9005 8000K HID Bulb They have some cordless and corded HID ballast. I suggest if your grabing both and you want to mount it where the stock ballast would have been, get the corded one for low beam and cordless one for high beam. If you use cordless on low beam and mount it under the headlight assembly, you will find that the wires will be barely long enough. Also if you want to buy from that guy, PM the seller, ask for "Tom", he takes care of the aussie/Sydney side of the business and let him know that Ricky referred you and that you have the same car. He will set you up and will know exactly what to give you.

I didn't disclose any upgrades to them. Seeing as the only things I've done is replace certain trims that have cosmetic ware with better condition ones, headunit, speakers, footwell lighting system my fire extinguisher. I'm going to argue and escalate it to get my bits back. I spent well over $2.5k on upgrading bits and pieces and I'm not going to let that slide because of the other driver.

I'm with nrma and they automatically cover everything. An assessor called me today and delivered what i didn't want to hear. It's a write off and I've already asked about the parts, no go. by the sounds of things, third party is a good choice to go cause you can keep the car, and with comprehensive, you get your agreed value back but no car... Catch 22 really, pay more, get less. Would i be able to dispute the costs of my parts bought after the car? Since it is unfair that it wasn't my fault and i have to transfer rego again, spend money to get the same parts back. Very unfair to be honest.

Replacing Xenon Hid Globes For Compliance
xntrq replied to Everlong-S13's topic in General Maintenance
Yeah I had my ballast removed and some wires inside the housing cut. -
1 - Yes 2 - your figures are very close 3 - I had a few ESTIMATED quotes of about $5K in repairs and I'm not at fault so I shouldn't be paying a cent. Due to the fact that my insurer and smash repairs require genuine and new parts to repair the car with, and being a R34, it would have to be ordered from Japan and shipped over which will inevitably add a few thousands on top not to mention the parts are rare/not readily available. It's not confirmed as a write off but it has been assessed today and I'm waiting for them to contact me and deliver the news. Just preparing for the worse at the moment.
