doesnt sound like 4wd relay which is in the boot and not that loud. If i had to guess in order, id check CVs, wheel bearings, driveshafts, front diff (maybe LSD shot..if fitted), transfer case. But firstly pursue those metal chunks you found.

FS. 4WD Attesa accumulator cannister. bought new in Aug 2012, didnt fix problem (new attesa pump did), uninstalled after 2 days, nissan wouldnt refund. Basically new except for a few installation marks. These usually last around 10 years before internal charge is lost and most of the time will fix the 4wd relay clicking on S1 and S2 Stageas. Nissan retail is around $350 Pick up from 4053 QLD for $190 or $200 posted.

Climate Control sold sorry. I do have this bracket, I bought this to do the xanavi-out conversion, but never sized it up, so not 100% sure which model its from. Basically 3 models, normal, xanavi and S2 manual. Pm me if interested.

Dave, do you have a link for the harness you bought ?

Get an accumulator from nissan, jack or hoist car up, locate pump above rear diff, unscrew old accumulator...slowly to relaese pressure, will be messy with some fluid. Can be hard to remove, no space for pipe wrench. I used a chisel n hammer to loosen the accumulator. Install new one, grease o-ring first. Manual says to hand tighten, then tighten with tools so it moves 5mm on outside. Fill up the fluid reservoir in boot to the brim, well above max. Activate the attessa pump manually by disconnecting the black plug behind the drivers kick panel. Turn key to ign, u should hear pump running. You then need to bleed fluid, 2 nipples, one at back of transfer case and one on pump, exhaust side. Run fluid out till bubbles gone and fluid level is good. Reconnect pump plug/wire. Start car and check fluid level whilst running. Done.

Dont know what LABEL is, you car have any factory decals. stickers, stripes etc ?? and yours does have xenons, sec 260, select headlamps, get part #, hit memo, and a note there says xenons

S1 works on S2 definitely, no visible difference, AWD working perfectly, thanks again Dave

To fix, firstly try a new accumulator, usually good for 10 years, 350+ from nissan. Pm me as i have a near new (july 12) spare one for sale. Fitted for a few weeks only. Didnt fix my issue, as i ended up replacing pump and fitting my 2 yr old accumulator.

4wd pump relay, if its clicking annoyingly either means your 4wd accumulator or attesa pump needs replacing.
