  1. I have 1 log recorded of my VCT actually working on my car. Otherwise it never does. I have no speed signal to my ECU just the tach. thru nistune I set the minumum vtc enable speed to 0 so should be fine. I didnt realize the ecu grounded the signal for the VCT to operate when I first wired it up. I had wired the brown wire to a ground assuming the ecu provided a 5v or 12v signal to the vct plug. Infact the only run I have with the variable timing logged working is with it hooked up the incorrect way. Once I realized the brown wire was a 12v and not a ground I changed the wiring but this made no difference. I can hear the solenoid click if i rev up the car. Is there a way to test if the solenoid is bad? I had 1 die on me [oil seeped from inside the solenoid into the plug] The log I have saved with the vct working the timing will drop to 19° timing at full boost and be running flawlessly without it working it goes to ~23° Thanks For ANY input Tim

I can hear the relay click if i rev up the car. Is there a way to test if the solenoid is bad? I had 1 die on me [oil seeped from inside the solenoid into the plug] Also if my timing drops below 24degrees at full boost it will cut... The log I have saved with the vct working the timing will drop to 19degrees and be running flawlessly Seems bad to run 24/25degrees with 91oct fuel at 17psi but I dont hear it detonate.. Thanks For ANY input Tim
  3. I fried my ECU today and am in need of a replacement please PM me if you have one for sale Tim
  4. I got my engine harness yesterday. I took a ECU Pin out diagram and labeled every wire color for reference, http://www.flickr.com/photos/10300981@N05/6166315259/ I took a 95 KA F3 Plug Pin Out and matched up what wires were used with my RB20 so I know what I needed to look for/use to atleast start) Matched to this chart Dont mind my nonsense notes was up til 5am lol http://www.flickr.com/photos/10300981@N05/6166316837/ I made this chart: R34 RB25DET NEO F3 Plug X- Y (Z) X= F3 Pin #, Y= Wire Color, Z= ECU Pin # 48- Red (3) REVERSE 47- Black and White (67,114) INJECTOR #4 46- Green and Red (68) O/D OFF LAMP 45- Green (70) A/T MODE SWITCH SNOW 44- Blue and Black (??? to Engine) 43- Yellow and Red (29) VSS 42- Yellow and Red (39) NEUTRAL SIGNAL 41- Orange and Black (18) NOT LISTED IN FSM 40- Yellow and Purple (5) TACH 39- Light Green and Red (38) "0" POSITION 38- Brown and Red (27) NOT LISTED IN FSM 37- Green and Black (??? to Engine) 36- Black and Pink (32) CONTROL UNIT GROUND 35- BLANK 34- White and Black (65) DB 1 SIGNAL 33- Blue and Pink (66) DB 3 SIGNAL 16- Blue and Black (??? to Engine) 15- Blue (108) CANISTER PURGE COTROL VALVE 14- Black (25) CONTROL UNIT GROUND 13- BLANK 12- BLANK 11- BLANK 10- BLANK 9- BLANK 32- Brown and Yellow (75) RECIEVE DATA 31- Yellow and Black (48) TPS POWER 30- Light Green (33) IDLE POSITION SWITCH 29- Gray and Red (20) IGN START SIGNAL 28- Red and White (17) MALFUNCTION (MIL) 27- Yellow and Pink (76) TRANSMIT DATA 26- Brown (??? to Engine) 25- Green and Orange (31) IGN POWER SUPPLY 24- Blue (34) "1" POSITION 23- Blue and Yellow (35) "2" POSITION 22- Black and Pink (13) FUEL PUMP RELAY 21- Black and Red (1) CYL #1 SIGNAL 20- Red and Yellow (8) CYL #2 SIGNAL 19- Brown and White (43) SENSOR GROUND 18- Orange (111) FUEL PUMP VOLTAGE 17- BLANK 8- White and Blue (55) MAF 7- Blue and Red (121) SHIFT SOLENOID A 6-Blue and Yellow (122) SHIFT SOLENOID B 5- BLANK 4- BLANK 3- BLANK 2- BLANK 1- BLANK MY RB20 only used the following wires to run off of: 48-ASCD Vacuum Motor No idea what this is suppose to match to on the NEO 47- ASCD Release Valve No idea what this is suppose to match to on the NEO 42- Wiper Variable Intermittent Switch 34- Start Signal 11- Fuel Pump Relay 32- ASCD Air Valve No idea what this is suppose to match to on the NEO 31- ASCD Actuator Power No idea what this is suppose to match to on the NEO 30- MIL Lamp 28- Temp Guage Sending Wire ECU has PURPLE wire to Temp guage but no wire to the F3 Plug 27- Wiper Intermittent Switch 26- Tach 17- Battery Lead to ECCS Relay No idea what this is suppose to match to on the NEO I need this for sure 8- Wiper Off/Int Switch 7- Wiper Motor Low 6- Wiper Motor High 5- Ignition Lead to Wiper Motor 4- Washer Switch 1- Ignition Lead to Injectors No idea what this is suppose to match to on the NEO I need this aswell There were plugs not used on my 20 that I think must have been wired into a common source down more into the harness because #18 O2 Sensors, EGRC, EVAP purge, IACV, and TPS seems important, Also the VSS which had no wire to it on my plug yet speedo worked. I literally have no one to help me with this... I clearly have been doing my homework so if you could help with these wires and what they translate to on my NEO harness I'd really appreciate it. I will have to look into those ASCD wires as I have no clue what they are used for or mean. Wipers will be dealt with another time. So I'm almost positive I was sent an Auto Harness, if anyone could help identifying any of these plugs it would be very helpful, I printed out some pages from the FSM to try and follow the wires from the sensors to the ECU, Doesn't seem like I can find wires that match up to help identify them. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r216/the_muffinman25/IMAG0133-1.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r216/the_muffinman25/IMAG0141.jpg Not sure if this is right, I was pretty sure my RB20 lower harness plugged in here, but still a missing plug http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r216/the_muffinman25/IMAG0136.jpg So is this my ECCS Relay? well minus the relay (what could I use for this relay? like fin at Pick N Pull) http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r216/the_muffinman25/IMAG0138.jpg These seem to go nowhere, possibly for the Auto tranny harness? http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r216/the_muffinman25/IMAG0142.jpg Blue I believe is the Canister Purge Connector the black one is for my Coilpack harness, the brown and purple plug I'm not 100% on what they are for. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r216/the_muffinman25/IMAG0143.jpg One with Tape is my MAF but the other goes nowhere, only plug the FSM says is by there is the refrigerant pressure sensor... http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r216/the_muffinman25/IMAG0144.jpg From the front side of the motor on the throttle body, believe they are for the traction control, so none are used correct http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r216/the_muffinman25/IMAG0145.jpg My TPS....no plugs on the harness plug into it http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r216/the_muffinman25/IMAG0146.jpg Valve Timing...no plugs fit here either http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r216/the_muffinman25/IMAG0130.jpg Green Plug Seems to match up for AUTO wiring so no concerned I suppose, the other 2 go to nothing tho http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r216/the_muffinman25/IMAG0131.jpg If anyone wants to help me out I can give u more pics and detail...I don't see a point in trying to follow every wire back to the ECU if I have nothing to plug them into I sat all this morning and afternoon looking at every wire on each plug its not helping. It almost seems like this harness isn't for my motor, but the Injectors, MAF, coil packs, and Water temp plug in... Any help from actual owners would be greatly appreciated! Tim
  5. I'm unsure of what wires are switched around on the M63 plug? I can find the pinout for the s14 easy to match the NEO to but I dont see what wires your are saying on the NEO side are being moved... (I have a S14 so engine harness interior plug is a direct fit into the s14 just need to move wires around on the harness plug Like if someone has a picture of the plug and labeled each pin that would be sweet to see or drawn out)
  6. Hello, To start off I have a 95' Nissan 240sx *not silvia* that had a RB20DET but my ceramic exhaust wheel exploded and seems to of blown my top rings on cylinder 3 for sure. I picked up 2 R34 RB25DET NEO's. I'll be using the RB20 gearbox and accesories. I've been researching but am a little stuck on parts decision because info is not so solid when it comes to the NEO RB Motors here in the states *USA* The R34GTT NEO's use RB26 Rods so my rod bearing choice is ACL RB26 Bearings http://www.frsport.com/ACL-6B2960H-X-Race-Rod-Bearing-Set-RB26DETT-RB25-DET_p_9562.html *I got that right yes?* I'm not sure about the Main *Crank* Bearing choice. I'm guessing I use RB25 bearings http://www.frsport.com/ACL-7M2394H-X-Race-Main-Bearing-Set-Nissan-RB20DET-RB25DET_p_12470.html Tho Tomei and Cosworth list Main Bearings as 25/26...so I'm looking for clarification. As for piston rings do the NEO's use standard RB25 Rings http://www.frsport.com/Genuine-OEM-Nissan-Piston-Rings-Set-RB25DET_p_18630.html I know NE0's have a different piston dome design but I assume they are the same diameter since it's still a 2.5L (I assume the RB26 Rods are what bump up the NEO's CR (comp ratio) compared to a normal RB25DET or just the piston design) As for a engine gasket kit I was led to believe I'd use a OEM RB25DET kit http://www.frsport.com/Genuine-OEM-Nissan-Complete-Engine-Gasket-Kit--Set--RB25DE-RB25DET_p_9323.html I know the AAC Valve along with a few other gaskets are different because of the NEO head using different pieces, but the actual blocks are identical. (Tho I discovered using an RB20 alternator on the NEO block requires me to use a longer alt belt as the RB20 belt isn't long enough, also the RB25's PS Pump has a different size outlet, any other small differences you know of I'll encounter?) Any help you can give to me would me greatly appreciated as the resources are slim for ppl with reliable info. Sincerly, Tim P.S.- If anyone could post pictures of their NEO6's for me I'd really appreciate it, I believe I'm missing some sensors/parts on the motor.
