  1. Hell thats good Cubes, well done. I still reckon your motor is one to aspire to. I went with RB25 Super Techs 8.98 according to software comp; .0025 coated and thats what they recommend. Still want to get to the bottom of the timing belt issue. My preference is to run the 'close' set up using the same belt Kaige is using. The issue with the Gates belt profile has got me wary.
  2. Kaige posted: TWIN VL... 'now using the same belt p/n T306 due to the gates not fitting properly so should be all fine!' RB Calais posted: ...same as TWINVL was setup but its a shorter belt so it doesnt run so close...it's a Gates So I'm assuming that TWINVL has used the 'close' set up. BUT he appears to have moved to using the T306 belt (his website still indicates that he used the Gates) presumably due to the perceived problem with the Gates tooth profile.
  3. ROMAC reckon that the ATI patent is an excellent design. That said, they also seem pretty confident about the design of theirs.
  4. The stock thing is really good. Hence the description: As many RB26 owners will know, the individual throttle bodies on these engines are a fantastic idea but all too often cause more problems then their worth. If they break or lose alignment, it can be very costly to fix or replace. leaves me a little dubious. I haven't tried one but unless you're looking for something different I'd leave it. Asking the seller for dyno figures etc is usually interesting.
  5. I'd suggest an IMPUL ecu is not stock, and yes a remap can control boost levels but so can a lot of other things. If it is at the boost pressure you say then rule of thumb suggests that it shoud be OK but your concern re ceramic wheels is valid. My stock 32 GTR maxes at about 9 psi, 33 is probably similar. JECS and DENSO make just about every electronic part on the car. Dyno is a good idea, see what it's actually doing.
  6. you need an RB26 balancer, make sure you specify what model car as the 32 is different to the others. cheapest for ATI I've found is $700 + postage and includes a water pump pulley, from Japanese Garage on the web. Romac is making balancers for the RB26 at the moment, should be ready in early February at about half the price. Cheers
  7. I thought the Gates belt had a problem with the tooth profile? Did you use the stock or high/low tensioner configuration on yours?
  8. You could try and find someone who does spark erosion. I'm pretty sure I saw a van the other day that advertised it. It's a process where an electrode is used to erode the stud away, followed by running a tap through the hole to clean up the thread. Useful for situations where an easy out is not going to work. Cheers
  9. Adapter plates are only about 10mm. Speaking of scrapers, I think you've hit on something there (no pun intended). In a previous post I asked if people adapt them to the RB30 girdle and it seems generally not. Thinking about it now, I reckon there's a chance they would hit the rods anyway but can't be sure as we didn't use scrapers either. From memory when we checked the clearance carefully, at BDC the rod comes down to about the same level as the girdle, and there's significant clearance between the bottom of the girdle and the closest part of the sump.
  10. Just had another look at the guide, it talks about grinding fins off the sump on the RB26 to accomodate the longer throw. Can anyone please provide further explanation or a pic - the engine builder measured it all up and can't see where the interference might be; I was there when he did it and I'm not sure either. Cheers
  11. I'm also keen to know if this belt fits the tooth profile. Does anyone know for certain what the thread size is for the RB30 oil pressure switch? Can fit an 1/8 NPT-27 tap in there but won't accept a sender of the same size. I think it's metric but not sure.
  12. Guys; on the timing belt issue, the preferred way of mounting the tensioners seems to be hi/low, as opposed to close together just above the water pump as in the stock RB26 set up. it appears that the problem with the 2nd method is that the tensioners are too close tegether and there is minimal clearance between the belt surfaces. has anyone tried to overcome the problem with the 2nd method by using smaller circumference tensioners from another engine thus allowing the use of a shorter belt and creating more clearance between the belt surfaces?
  13. Post Office definately sells it.
  14. What Bluprint said, Pack and Send are good but expensive. I've had trouble getting private ie non account holder freight sent.
  15. I know of a 26/30 with steel wheel stockers in an R32 GTR and the thing is very strong.
  16. ordered 1/8 NPT -27 temp from VDO. nothing like the temp sender in my car which is M12x1.25
  17. Hi Kennedy, I'm fairly sure it's a generic kit and compatible with most normal PFCs ie not DJetro or AP Engineering. Regards
  18. try doing leakdown test, that might provide some clues but won't show worn guides. if its a bit of an unknown quantity it's worth checking as much as you can so you know what you've got. if the mech says valves then I'd go with that, if it's still at the same place those guys seem pretty good . gtr valve springs are not as good as a set from Performance Springs for $250. nismo or cometic metal head gasket will be fine as long as it's the right thickness. head off will give you a good opportunity to check CR also, no point running 7.5:1 as R33 racer said oil returns are gravity feed and can cause problems if not plumbed correctly. all of the hoses should facilitate flow by 'pointing downwards' if that makes sense ie don't have a hose that tries to make the oil run up hill.
  19. jeez you've been busy. looking at the photo second row, second from last - there is a black metal pipe connected to a speedflow fitting. looks like it's supported but if not it seems it could be a victim to vibration? nice work though.
  20. Rumour has it that Stanhope got sick and tired of seeing his daughter come home every morning weak kneed, exhausted and with a dopey grin on her face when she was going out with a Skyline driver and he's hated anyone into modified cars ever since. Her boyfriend drove a GTR of course... Hey let's give everyone the sh$ts by building a prison that we don't need and, and then discourage recreational motorsport. Maybe Stanhope is getting too much Bar er Barr.
  21. I want to install an oil cooler on my RB26 and remove the existing water/oil cooler attached to the filter boss to free up some room. Heard from a good source today that the RB20 filter boss, which has no coooler, bolts to the RB26 block OK. But...there's no room on the RB20 boss for a pressure or temp sender so they plumb into the block on the RB20. Has anyone done this and of so, what did you do with the the RB26 temp and pressure senders. Cheers
  22. Looking for: water pump pulley lower timing belt cover please PM with prices if you have any of this. Cheers
  23. PMs sent for twin turbo pipe and fittings, water pipes and 'behind the head' pipes.
