  1. bonus points for creativity!
  2. i got tested by the EPA, so i am pretty sure its right. There were no walls or cars next to me so the sound wouldnt be bouncing off things. I also copped the $500 fine.
  3. on my r32 gtr, i got done at 109db@5100rpm. i have a stock cat back exhaust and i am right on 90db now. Might keep this on til i find something thats not as loud!
  4. might check it out at the Maccas...dunno about the rest of the cruise.
  5. just curious....where and when?
  6. RIP to all occupants
  7. thats a pretty good time. congrats. what mods?
  8. i had an OS GIKEN twin plate in the same car as yours and it shattered. It didnt happen long after i picked up the car (around 40 minutes it started showing signs and 2 weeks later it died). I went for a whole new clutch, Excedy twin plate. Costs more, but peace of mind for me.

    EPA anyone?

Thanks slow_r31. I have already taken a seperate action in regards to a dodgey RWC from them (look at link in my previous post).

    EPA anyone?

actually SKY031, for your information, EPA told me to take it up with the mechanic that issued the previous seller the RWC. . BUSINESS NAME REMOVED http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=52079

    EPA anyone?

the point is...i just bought the car. had it been me who got things modified, then thats a different story. a $500 fine is a bit excessive.

    EPA anyone?

damn bloody EPA bastards! i copped the $500 fine even afte only driving it for one week. They reviewed my situation and because i have had an EPA on another car beforehand, i should have known it exceeded the sound limit. So I have to take this to court....lawyer and court costs are gonna be more than $500! what a jib!! So when buying a car, the EPA expect you to get the db level tested! fkn assholes!
  13. i think it really depends how you drive the car...if you thrash it, i would say yes. it just lets the turbo cool down. but its not that neccessary to have one. you could always just sit in the car for like 30 seconds then switch off. its really up to the individual.
  14. its something like its illegal to have a car running without anyone in the car (drivers seat) unlessyou are in your own driveway.
  15. I would suggest HKS GT2530/GT2540 or GReddy T517Z/T518Z. Dont rule out the N1 turbos (R34 is ball bearing i believe). Thats what i am running. There are a few turbos being sold on the forum and quite a few in ebay (search for GTR).

    ratedGTR: thats the spirit!

    EPA anyone?

bigger turbo maybe? I have to get a stock cat back exhaust for the r32 gtr and work from there to quieten it. Also removing the power fc and replacing it with a standard ecu just incase they decide to test the emissions at macleod. did any of you get the $500 fine?

    EPA anyone?

ratedGTR: what did you get epa'd for?

    EPA anyone?

ratedGTR: was that at nite? cos i went driving thru there with as well as an s15, supra, and a 2 door sti. i was about to turn right onto that beach part but i saw it was fully lit up. i was like "stuff that" and turned left....but no cop came after us. i wasnt worried cos i cant get done twice for the same thing....but the others could (except the s15 - stock).

    EPA anyone?

i dont know about the pod filters bit...cos they saw it and said absolutely nothing about them. I always thought it had to be in an enclosed box. But i wasnt exactly gonna ask them about it! hehe
  21. lwells: i have a copy of his receipt for his clutch from 4 months ago. He said it was a new clutch but as it turns out it was just a rebuilt clutch. Gearbox was rebuilt 4 months ago too and the motor was rebuilt 1 year ago. So, i'll just have to wait and see! haha
  22. i have a non standard r32 gtr...and now that i think of it, i should have just bought a standard r33 gtr. within an hour of picking it up, i was plagued by clutch problems. $2600 later, the problem was resolved. Also, insurance.....i am paying $2800 plus 10% full comp through Famous Car insurance.

    EPA anyone?

LastTemptation: yeah i remember you.....did you see me arguing with the cop over the avcr? haha yeah i knew i was gonna get it for the noise level! i was 90db on idle. foznice: they do it from about 1m away and the legal limit is 90db. Sometimes they stick this CO2 sensor in to measure emissions...lucky for me they didnt, otherwise there would be more things i would have to change!

    EPA anyone?

hey, just curious to know if any other skyline owners got epa'd last night? I drove down at around 1'sh to meet someone and saw enough police presence to know i shouldnt hang around. I had one cop take down my plates outside Jam Factory. But nothing else. Then i saw cops standing outside KFC directing traffic.....but still nothing. I thought i was free til i got to Coles where i got directed to a "random breath test" station. And who else do i see? My good old buddies at the EPA. Needless to say, i didnt pass exhaust sound levels (no duh there). I was recorded at 109db at 5000rpm (and i thought it was only supposed to be at 3300). Also was my AVC-R which wasnt actually connected in the engine bay. I had to argue with the cop and the EPA officer about whether or not boost was adjustable withing the cabin. But it was a lost cause! I find out in a week or two whether i cop that $500 fine, but seeing as this was how i bought the car one month ago, i should be fine. So c'mon all.....who got caught??? hehe
  25. geez...lucky i never asked that question! i was like "its there for a reason...dont touch things that you know nothing about" Memo to me: graviterix deccelerometer , darkness re-inverberator, and optional jetroflux pack....got it!
