  1. How does it stop? Abruptly like it's running into something or slows down and then stops? No obstructions up the top of your door where glass slides stopping it from going all the way up?
  2. Do you mean the hole's there due to the intake cam gear not being adjusted to DET specs? I've brought my DET parts over to a DE and havent touched the intake cam/cam timing.. Does that mean there is power to be had?
  3. AW of course! Thanks My life makes so much more sense now
  4. There's VCT on the intake cam too?! Thought it was only the exhaust cam?
  5. Well I was told by someone knowledgeable on the topic that the exhaust cam only differed on the DET and now I wouldn't mind some confirmation of this! It'd be great if he was wrong about something as he rarely is LOL
  6. Same turbo as stock r34gtt turbo? Price on that please?
  7. I just finished fixing my 34 after doing a big end in the 180k block.. I bought an RB25DE neo and swapped the DE int. & exh. manifolds + exhaust cam with the DET ones, bolted in new DE+T engine and turned key.. Fairly easy as far as engine swaps go as I could leave my injectors etc in the DET manifold and just bolt the whole thing on. In answer to your question, yes, engine swaps are generally a bit of work lol. Not real sure about 33's, does the non neo 25 have VVT? If there are differences like that I'd be leaning towards the option of bolting turbo parts to your neo.. What about your ecu? The only way I'm getting away with throwing boost down an unchanged DE is the fact I'm able to modify the Ecu's DET map via nistune. Before pulling some timing out and adding some fuel (shed tuning) I drove down the road and brought it on boost a bit only to hear the worst most violent sounding knock I've ever heard. A de-comp plate may be worth a thought? Good luck
  8. Another cause of ask first re-search later.. Sorry Page 15 Section 4.1 confirms it http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/vehicle_regulation/bulletin/pdf/NCOP3_Section_LA_Engine_01jan2011_v3.pdf
  9. Hey guys, Anyone know what needs to happen (if anything) regarding rego etc after an engine swap? I blew up original 25DET Neo, replaced it with 25DE Neo I purchased from engine importer, and bolted all my turbo stuff on resulting in a Rb25DE+T Neo. What will happen if i decide to sell the car? The engine number is now different (not to mention its a DE) Its my understanding that if you turbo a shit spec VL for example, you'll need the associated vl turbo parts such as brakes etc in order for you to be able to rego it..
  10. What answered your question mate? Im the one with the questions lol!
  11. Is it bad form to post on old topics? Just wanted to get back to sau and say i've successfully put all my turbo gear on the DE and it works really well. Timing had to be pulled and fuel added via nistune due to a knock but otherwise i'm really happy with how its ended up! I do however still have a small intermitant problem. Randomly sometimes when I stop and idle I get oil smoke out of exhaust, sometimes its a fair bit too and can be fairly embarrassing! Decel in gear seems to make this worse?however sometimes i can compression brake down massive hill and come to a stop and the exhaust is perfectly clear! Intake side cam cover is the DE one. Is the PCV system different on the DE from the DET? The turbo is new so don't tell me its leaking out the exhaust side! Thanks for any input guys!
  12. Take intake manifold, exh manifold & exhaust cam.. Is that it? Is everything below the head the same except for turbo oil lines?
  13. Hi guys any advice appreciated! Bought car with 170000k's, FMIC'd, cheap turbo, bigger radiator, nistune'd ecu, splitfires, swaybars, 2 way diff etc, drove car for 6months without issue, eventually got a small noise which got worse with time and heat, eventually 'blew up' cruising on highway with abnormally high oil temp, massive internal knocking sort of noise from engine, key off & coast to stop, tow truck, home to cry. Engine will start but it sounds that bad you dont even want to put your head near the engine bay. I believe i've spun a bearing in a rod but am unsure? This car was not babied and I am not suprised something has broken, just after the best way to go about fixing it. I've purchased an RB25DE NEO for $1350 from an engine import shop in Brisbane in late January (business name withheld atm), I still have the receipt, and have not removed engine from crate it was delivered on. I asked for an RB25DET NEO and was sent an RB25DE NEO. I only found out today as i had a mate take delivery. They have a 7 day return policy (it took 4 days to get delivered!) and will not take the engine back as he keeps telling me I asked for a non turbo'd engine. This is a complete lie. All he would do is give me $1250 store credit towards a turbo'd RB25DET NEO (for $3000). What do you guys suggest i do? Is it possible to unbolt sump off both engines and swap crank, rods and pistons after machining? Or should i fix my engine? What parts exactly will need machining? Whats a natro 25 worth from a private seller? ALL REPLIES GREATLY APPRECIATED!
  14. Hmm really.. Yeah coolant level's fine, fan and ac fan both work, hot and cold spots on rad? What does that mean?
  15. Hi all, This is my first post, great site! I've just bought an R34GTT which was completely stock and have so far been to rob bliss in virginia BNE and had an xforce 3in from turbo back installed, but otherwise its stock in everyway. Im not scared of pooring every pay check into my car for a few months as its my first import and heaps of fun! Today i drove out to Mt Glorious and after 10mins of very enthusiastic driving I had an oil temp of 110 and the water temp was at 75%. On went the heater and after some calm driving they both came down. Obviously the huge issue is the water temp but I just wanted to know if I have a problem or this is normal of the 34's cooling setup. Im relatively new to this so any info is much appreciated! Thanks
