  1. Just trying to help you out on to adjust the timing, glad you figured it out. Good luck on resolving the rest!
  2. Basically the same thing for all RB engines: Timing an RB20DET By: goofynick Warm up car to operating temp. Make sure idle is 650 +/- 50 rpms. You can adjust your idle RPM's with a flathead screwdriver by turning the screw on the AAC. You have to unplug the brown plug from the AAC first, then plug it back in. Unplug the TPS (not the idle switch, but the tps, has the cord hooked to the plug coming out of the sensor). Hook up timing light around the loop at the back of the engine coming out of the ignitor pack (black wire loop). Check timing, if way off, then flip the way the thing is connected around that loop. Set to 15 degrees for manual trans, 20 for auto with car in neutral, do so by loosening 3 bolts on cam angle sensor and rotating it left or right. Tighten CAS. Plug tps in and rev engine, then unplug TPS and check again to be sure it is at 15 degrees with idle around 650rpms. Shut off the car and uplug everything the timing light, plug tps back in and unplug battery for 10 mins. Hook up the battery, restart the car and go drive it hard for a few minutes. 3. Well what i did to match my missing one may sound weird and a round about way of doing it but it worked... I ordered a whole door from an importer in Japan for about $30 and just had him ship me the missing window deflector off of it to match my missing one. It worked!! and now I have a whole matching OEM set that even has the same discoloration. In the end it costed me about $55 but I also ordered a bunch of stuff with it to bring the cost down and make it worth it for the imported to do me the favor. Sometimes you have to think outside the box.
  4. Put on stickers +5hp each! LOL J/K It all depends on your budget and what you want to do, it's not a HP car and it's FF so the Aftermarket support isn't going to be a strong as for the RWD VQ set ups Start with your basics, intake, exhaust, ECU (tune/chip) then you can learn more about what it can do or you just might be happy and leave it there Read up and keep learning there are many forums just dedicated to your car (http://maxima.org/) where you are going to find more info Good luck
  5. LOL I just noticed the date! Oh well maybe this info will help someone else...
  6. WOW this is nuts! Great job! I'd love to hear it, can you post a vid?
  7. I had the same problem on my car when I first got it, it is most likely a vacuum leak. check and clean your IVAC and ACC also it should be a part of your maintenance anyway And the simplest way to check for your leak is just to use carb cleaner and listen for a idle change to check for your leak. Here is a video of what I mean: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CPqbaSgcok remember our cars are pretty old at this point so the hoses are just getting old so you might have the smallest crack in your lines so move them around to expose anything and check if they are getting hard. This might help you out too : http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/174735-fixing-idlestarting-problems-rb25det-cleaning-air-regulator-easy-way/?hl=%2Bclean+%2Byour+%2Bacc I have a 25 but search around if it is different on your 20 good luck and i hope everything works out!
  8. Found a few pix of my old GZ20... I miss my old baby... RIP... can you believe that the insurance company tried to give me only $300 for her at first! I ended up with $15k for her but damn man... I still rather have had my car!
  9. OEM 350z wheels Thanks man, just my stocks while I find some replacements
  10. So I figure I'd do a little update... I ordered a bunch of parts from JDMland but shipping is taking forever so the wait continues... I am getting random parts here and there but not everythign to start working yet. I did get a few other goodies since the last time I've updated here... Thanks Nic!!! But I did get to check out this gem that I used to own... Yes that a is a GZ20 Toyota Soarer TT with a 1G-GTE I used to own one back a few years ago, I miss my car and it was nice to see one again. Very rare here in the US, when I owned mine there were only 4 that I knew of in the whole country and this one is the very first that has been legalized fully not just in the state but for the country! And side note, if you can get a car legalized in the state of California it is then legal for the country because we have the strictest laws here. FML I know.... As for what happened to my car? it was totaled in a car accident in 2007, rear-ended in LA traffic while I was stopped... thats right going 0 mph... truck ran right into me... I would have never sold mine... The owner used to work at Toyota in Japan and with TRD. Really nice guy and had some great stories. Great day! But I did get a new toy to play with while I wait for the engine parts. Say Bye bye to the Blitz 01's! Gotta say I have to change my whole suspension set up again with this set up but the new tires feel great! Alot more comfortable driving but alot harder to get loose so more playing... Well see what happens but as for this weekend all eyes are on FD Irwindale this weekend so that will be fun...
  11. Can I be one of the kool kids?
  12. Just cause I haven't updated in a while... Been actually busy with work and waiting on goodies from JDMland... Also since she is working right now I kinda don't want to mess with her... So here is a pic that got taken from a local meet... First time I ever took here anywhere... People were kinda surprised around here to see her, well the people that knew what she was... HAHA!
  13. Thanks for trying but from the reserch I've done there are guys that are making the harness in Japan and like that guy in Thailand as listed in my picture is making them for sale but just not responding to me for whatever reason. What I'm asking is if anyone comes across them to post the information here or pm me with one for sale. If they can make one for me let me know as well.
  14. Awesome James, Welcome!
  15. Can't wait! Keep up the good work! and take lots of pics!!
