  3. Hey guys, im fairly new to the forums but i had a brand new Gates Timing Belt and water pump kit with all seals and gaskets needed todo the job. I paid 360$ with shipping around a year back for the kit, but i never got around to needing to use it as i barely drive my r34.   8. ok so last year I traded my 07 Aurion for what I think is a series 2 gts-t r33 skyline. This car knocked my freaking socks off. The previous owner spent 10k upgrading the engine and I do not know what he did. I let someone drive me home in it and the result was front end damage. no damage to the engine however. Recently it was running pretty well.. getting up there like it did when I first got it however it was what I think is called misfiring or topping out at 4.5k revs(bouncing back and forth from 4.4-4.5) Im new to the internal combustion engine. Anyway I took it to a regular mechanic which turned out to be a mistake. It took them half a week to figure out that it had an aftermarket computer and what they called a load sensor(acting as a map sensor?) this load sensor was burnt out and could supposedly have caused damage to the ecu so $1150 later im back with a standard computer and airflow meter. they also put some new plugs in of course this wasn't the end of it. the engine now cuts in and out if you apply too much throttle. almost like bunny hopping. Thoughts? Am I best taking this to a performance mechanic? Wreckers? Should I find a way to put the aftermarket computer back in or is that not possible without that same load sensor? please help

Daymo's R32 GTS-T Hey everyone, I thought i'd start a build thread, just so i can keep a log of everything i'm going to do to the car, and keep track of how much i'll no doubt spend on it in the next few years. I'll give a brief introduction, i'm from the U.K. but currently on a sponsorship with a goal of getting permanent residency further down the line, located in Griffith NSW, and there isnt a great deal to do here so im gonna spend my time and money on a car ive always wanted, an R32 skyline! I'm no stranger to nissans, i had a 1997 Nissan Primera GTSE, not sure if you get them over here as i definitely haven't seen one on my travels! She had a few tasteful mods:- Full Stainless Exhaust with Powerflow Backbox,Hotshot 4-2-1 Manifold,Koni Shocks and Springs,Uprated ECU (Datsek Piggyback System)Hotshot Cold Air Intake,Ported and Polished Head,JWT-S3-Cams,Short Shifter, Plasma Dials, Nissan VZR Splitter, JDM Headlights, Yellow Foglights The primera was a great car to drive, but it did get boring in the end, being NA it just needed that extra kick from a turbo but i never got round to doing the conversion. Anyway, i'll get onto the skyline now, i bought it in December 2016, its a Type-M Manual (was an auto) im still discovering little mods here and there, as the sales advert wasn't the best, i have a dyno print out for 230kW/308bhp and i know it has a kinuwaga TD06-20G but apart from that im unsure. (maybe you guys can spot some mods and i'll keep updating the list!!) Mods:- Engine:- Kinuwaga TD06-20G Tial 45mm Wastegate - did have a screamer pipe but the previous owner had this welded up when he was defected. Forward Facing Plenum Oil Catch Can Spitfire Coils 3 or 3.5" Full Stainless HKS Pod Filter (hidden underneath some awful chequer plate) Haltech Platinum ECU FMIC 14 Row Oil Cooler + Filter Relocation Kit RB20 Manual Gearbox Conversion Suspension & Wheels:- BC Racing Coilovers Lenso D1R's - 17x9.5 Fronts - 17x10 Rears Just Jap Lower Control Arms Front and Rear Exterior:- Carbon Fibre Bonnet - Unsure of brand GTR Grill Black Indicators Aero mirrors, GTR Front Bumper, GTR Spoiler Interior:- Momo Deep Dish Steering Wheel Drift Button Double Din Headunit Oil pressure, boost gauge, A/F Gauge and here are a few pictures from the day i picked her up, I got defected pretty much two days into owning it for being too low, so raised it up a touch (25mm at the front and 30mm at the rear). i then decided i hated the vinyl wrap as it was bubbling in places and pretty poorly done. i was hoping the paint was going to be okay underneath the wrap, but with the wrap being on for a good few years (the previous owner had the car 18 months, and he reckoned it had been on a while when he first bought it) this was not the case. So this is where im currently at now, ive taken all the wrap off, im currently in the process of buffing all the left over glue off the car with prepsol, and getting her ready for paint. i bought a GTR-ST front bumper from kmak aero, did a little bit of modification to the slam panel or "reo" as you call it over here. Future plans are to tidy up the bodywork, add a few subtle mods, change the wheels and sort the ridiculous camber out on the front, then try and figure out how to get an rb25/30 engineered in here, its quite frustrating as we don't have all the engineering hoops to jump through in the UK, we can literally do what we want as long as it passes an emissions test! i'll try and keep the updates frequent!!   10. Thinking of letting go of my 1996 R33 Gts-t which I have owned for 4 years. This car is one of the last R33’s that have been kept in immaculate condition. Every modification has been performed with performance and reliability in mind. Every nut and bolt has been torqued to OEM Nissan spec as I am extremely fussy when it comes to working on cars. All modifications were performed in the last 10,000km and nearly all parts were purchased new. Full alarm and immobilizer Full Genuine Nissan 'Skyline' floor mat set JDM Clarion system This car has been serviced with fully synthetic oil and Nissan filter every 5,000km without exception. All fluids including clutch, brakes and diff have been replaced in the last 5,000km. The car has been tuned by Chequered Tuning and currently makes 260rwkw on pump 98, or about 300kw at the flywheel. Very responsive and will chop most things on the road. Downsides are: •Front bar has some scratches on the bottom. •RH rear quarter has a scratch in the clear coat. Apart from the above the paint is excellent. The buyer of this car will receive a full folder of receipts totalling over $20,000 as well as dyno sheets for the tune and original Japanese auction papers. You will not find a cleaner, more genuine Skyline anywhere else. Registration is included but RWC will be left up to the buyer. This car has no finance owing, no stolen history and no written off history. Inspections are welcome however no one will sit in the drivers seat until I have cash in hand. The price is $14,000.   12. R33 Gts-t Manual 4door. 273 Rwkw Neat and tidy Sonic Silver, 1996, Series 2, Manual, 4 Door Skyline with a genuine 273 RWKW. Unfortunately for me, the timing belt tensioner has come loose and the engine is not running right. It isn't making power and backfiring. I suspect a valve may be bent. I have not investigated this. The car still runs and drives but I would not advise this until further investigation. I have dropped the price to reflect the suspected issue. I'm after a quick sale as I'm moving interstate.   13. 1996 R33 GTS-T Series 2 Silver When the car battery goes flat a few times over a few years, you have to replace the battery etc. due to lack of use you know the time has come to bite the bullet and let the girl go. I have owned this car for near on 10 years, imported into Aus and single owner of it here. It has had a very quiet life living on an acreage for 2 years then in a basement for the next 7 odd, never raced, rarely even driven with gusto. Been the most reliable car i've ever had. For 90% of the time i have owned it was only used on weekends as not long after i got it i moved close to work and train line so its had a boring life ever since. First things first let me be explicitly clear. I think it has a buggered head gasket (oil/similar in radiator overflow). Noticed it just before christmas after having gotten a new radiator and other stuff in November. Only drove it half a dozen times before realizing and only driven it briefly to charge battery once a week the past few weeks. Car still drives perfectly fine otherwise, it came as a shock. Anyway. Other than the radiator oil/whatever in overflow i cannot find any other symptoms, no smoke or loss of coolant etc. But something is a miss. She that shall go without name has reiterated many times the car is wasted on me these days and i must finally admit she is right. I rarely use it, i don't need it, it deserves a more active home (and i suppose "she" then gets to use the car space..). So with that said i have a firm asking price of $6,500 which is think is very good value especially if you're mechanically inclined to fix whatever the issue is above. The car would be a great daily, weekender toy, or track car. Leather steering wheel is worn thats about it the rest is all pretty good! Also can include a replacement illuminated rear SKYLINE garnish (never had it fitted). Also can throw in the old rotors+pads if wanted. Pads still had some life in them and rotors should be OK if machined (i think?).Car was serviced every year before rego/pink slip. Originally at powerplay imports, then north shore automotive, then quixspede. Number plates come with car are semi-custom i like $150 a year or something maybe less but you can just get rid of them and get normal ones. I probably should have before now haha. The car has a few what i consider minor dings and marks that come with age, and a scratch and crack on the front spoiler lip, thought all could be fixed and touched up quite easily. Garaged, weekend car only does 4000km per year, only 91xxxkm on the clock, great condition inside and out. 246 rwkw @ 15psi (dyno sheet available) All work performed by Chasers Motorworks in west Melbourne Modifications include: BMC high flow panel filter (in standard airbox), GCG High flow turbo, Z32 AFM, Walbro 250 l/hr fuel pump, Jecs 650cc Injectors, Apexi Power FC, HKS EVC-S, Blitz SE return flow FMIC, 54mm Alloy Radiator JJR Bellmouth Dump/front pipe, High flow Cat, Fujitsubo rear muffler (jasma spec) (sounds really good, not too loud). NPC Organic Clutch (standard feel, rated to 300 rwkw) Intima SR brake Pads (rated to 700 degrees) I have receipts for all this work which was only done July 2012. Standard parts that have been upgraded will come with car also (ECU, Injectors, AFM, intercooler, dump/front pipe) other modifications : Nismo clear side indicators, Nissan 350z 18" wheels, D1 Aluminium Wheel nuts, Alpine Double DIN CD player/radio with Ipod connectivity, front and rear strut braces, razo gearknob, Autometer boost gauge, mongoose alarm system Oil changed every 2000km (6 months) with fully synthetic quality oil. gearbox oil is synthetic and was done when clutch was installed, Brake fluid was changed with pad install and replenished with Motul RBF600. I had planned to keep this car for a long time which is why i only used quality parts and oils, i spent months looking for the best condition, low km, example i could find. I have now decided to buy a GT-R instead. i'm asking for $8000, my loss can be your gain, total bill for modifications was $8000 and i paid significantly more than that for the car only 3 years ago. I'm keen for a quick sale which is why i'm selling for this price, it does not come with a RWC and the price is not negotiable.   16. Cruise Power R32 as featured in Performance Imports and Perth Street Car Magazines. Car is an absolute MONSTER and not for the faint hearted! It currently makes 550hp @ 1.8bar, although more timing and boost will see close to 580-600hp. The car is in excellent condition and meticulously maintained. As much as I hate to sell it; I'm starting a new project so unfortunately this must go. I am willing to remove some parts to lower the price if need be, but please bear in mind everything on this car is genuine Jap (excl. 6Boost and Vi-PEC of course) NO Cheap China $h1t!!!   18. R32 GTS-T - Headlight Permanently On Last Friday, when I was leaving work, I discovered the remote wouldn't unlock my 32. The car is alarmed, so I didn't want to try opening it with the keys (in the end this didn't matter anyway) I assumed I had left my headlights on and decided to return the next morning with a mate to jump start it. When we returned the next day, we discovered the battery was completely dead. However, I hadn't left the headlights on so I was confused as to why the battery died. With keys in my pocket, we fitted the new battery and immediately my passenger side headlight turned on. (Normal headlight, not hi-beam or fog etc.) I was able to start the car, and flicking the headlight knob turned the drivers side headlight on. Flicking the knob in to the off position, the drivers side light turned off and the passenger side remained on. (This was not a problem previously, however I suspect it is the cause of the dead battery) For a few weeks prior to the battery dying, my passenger side indicator had been doing the 'double-speed' thing. To be honest, I had just ignored this. Now, that indicator works properly, but I still have the headlight problem. Has anyone encountered this before? Or knows where I should start looking? Sputtering under load and idle Ok so i refitted the turbo to my 97 R33 GTS-t on the Christmas break and have noticed that under load (say 80km/h in 5th or 60 in 4th) if i put my foot down the car will reach about 2.5K and start jerking and sputtering eventually evening out at 3-3.5k. when i first noticed it i was running 91 from united (so it was probably half water anyway) so i ran a full tank of BP 91 and injector cleaner through it and the problem was less noticeable but not gone completely. the next step was to run bp 98 through it to see it i was just running too low of an octane rating which didn/t change anything (what is the downside of running a lower octane BTW, engine damage or just terrible economy/running?). also sometimes when cold (idling at 1.5k to warm up), the engine will slightly miss every couple seconds but i assume this might just be a sign of the cars age. So am i looking at rubbish injectors or should i start looking at the coils or spark plugs (the plugs probably only have 10k on them and no idea about the injectors or coils). For note the car is running just off stock (basically pod filter, front mount, a 3.5" exhaust and bypassing the 2-stage boost controller) Cheers guys
  21. Ok, I've been on here long enough & gotten into enough trouble in my R32 GTS-T over a number of years that I think it's time i did a thread on it. I'm doing my best to go back over all the pics I've saved since December 2007 when I bought it. It came into my ownership as a clean & tidy 1992 model, paint code AH3 (wine red). A lot of people don't like the colour, but it definitely grows on you over time. I've loved it since day 1. Specs when I picked it up: * RB20 DET (130,000kms on dash) - original dash & mileage as far as I could tell, overall interior & exterior condition seemed to match the odo reading, so I purchased it in preference to some other 50K & 60K cars which looked like rat sh*#. * 5 speed manual * 17" lenzo wheels * Microtech LT8 ECU * Turbosmart dual stage boost controller * 3" exhaust * slotted front rotors * HKS turbo timer * Blitz BOV (stupid loud) * Blitz FMIC * front strut brace * clear side indicators (VT commodore items) * "high speed" NISMO badge on the boot It looked very clean & tidy, had plenty of power for an RB20 & was a nice daily driver. Although initially with the Microtech the fuel economy was sh*# & high boost had been set WAY too high for a stock turbo with no supporting mods. Early changes & modifications consisted of: * HICAS lock bar * removed Microtech piggyback ECU (then discovered it had been masking a faulty AFM, so back to the shop to be fixed & checked over) * reset boost to 11psi low & 13psi high * Walbro 255lph fuel pump added when stock pump was tired * the obligatory pod filter & turbosmart BOV (later got me defected lol) * several different sets of wheels, 17" & 18" as I found different models I liked & could fit Removing the piggyback ECU & getting things set properly dropped my weekly fuel bill from $120+ to less than $70 for the same trip, & gained roughly 20kw at the wheels in the process. I can't remember the power figures at the time, but mostly stock with slight boost increase, so not earth shattering figures but good economy & reliability for daily use. Following this there was mainly wear & tear items which needed attention: * AFM as mentioned above (a pink label RB25 unit was retrofitted by Unique Auto Sports in 7 hills) * diff rebuilt after it got real clunky * new sports clutch when the stock unit was rather worn * misc coolant & power steering hoses due to age * coil packs upgraded to splitfire units when the stockers began to give me issues * fitted GTR front seats I went through phases of fitting gauges everywhere I could find room, but ultimately the running gear remained the same. Then 1 day the boys in blue caught up to me while out cruising on a Thursday night. They didn't like the big white wheels (among other things), & at the peak of the strike force taipan era in NSW, an undercover unit defected me. I saw him coming but couldn't even make it to a mates place nearby to escape....you live & learn. Got done for the following: * camber wear on tyres * BOV not fully plumbed back * boost controller * exhaust too loud * 1 more thing I can't even remember Cleaned everything up & got all that sorted & cleared within a week or 2. They didn't even worry about the catch can or anything. Along with the defect was a summons for EPA testing, so the car went in to be tuned on E85 to clear emissions. As the fuel system was stock, the turbo was disconnected & an adjustable fuel pressure regulator fitted to allow it to (sort of) run long enough to clear the test. Defects were cleared so I called to make an appointment to get the car checked.... There was no record on the system, so after all that I'd wasted money preparing for nothing....not happy, but at least it was all sorted & roadworthy again. Back to the tuning shop to get converted back to 98 & have the hairdryer reconnected. The next several years up until December 2013 saw many kms with minimal issue. 1 more (heavy duty) clutch has been installed anticipating an engine upgrade, but otherwise mostly cosmetic mods were added & that's about it: * 17" R34 GTT wheels * GTR bonnet & grille (grille yet to be painted because I've been lazy) * R33 GTS-T front brake upgrade * later reupgraded to R32 GTR front brakes with slotted rotors * Adjustable coil overs fitted * DVD player & 7" screen * GTR dials & display adapted to original GTS-T dash * A larger UAS alloy radiator was added somewhere during this time period also. December 2013: The car now shows roughly 220,000 kms still on the same odometer it had when I bought it. The stock RB20 has survived 90,000kms of my driving, plenty of daily use, long distance trips, a bit of spirited mountain driving, the R34 GTR 10th anniversary cruise to Mt Wilson with the SAU club, etc. Only minor issues throughout this entire time. New years eve 2013 the car came off the road to receive a new motor & gearbox combo. (RB20 is still running, may have dropped compression a bit due to age but haven't checked. The stock turbo is still in place with minimal shaft play also). The new combo consists of an RB26 (N1 turbos) from an R32, an RB25 gearbox from an R33, & a single piece driveshaft made up to suit the combo. Engine (& many other parts including coil overs) generously supplied by our very own SAU member & wrecker, FATZ. The conversion commences: After 6 months of weekend work, the swap out is more or less complete & the car is now running: Then the day it roared to life for the very 1st time: Funny enough no major issues. 1 shot shows where I missed an oil block off & dropped engine oil everywhere, otherwise it fired up nicely on stock ECU with the N1 turbos & RB25 gearbox & everything else in place. Now I'm in the process of reassembling the front end, finishing off things like bleeding the clutch, changing the throttle cable, etc to get it mobile once more. The car still has rego, & once I've had it running for a while with some future upgrades added, it will be getting engineered to remain registered without defects. Future upgrade plans are a Haltech ECU with flex tune, bigger injectors to suit & some semi slicks for the track. There's probably several things I've forgotten about over the years, but I will add anything else I recall as they pop into my head. The plan was always to have a quick street car that can cope with weekend track use, & even be a daily if I need it to on occasion. I prefer something a little underrated that doesn't look seriously quick like a GTR. That's why I've kept the stock GTS-T wing & front bar, but added the GTR bonnet for a slightly different look. It will be staying as a RWD also. Once the car is running, there is a set of 18" rims with wider rears to aim for more traction. The 17"s pictured will likely be getting semi slicks for track use, then I will alternate between the 2 sets as required. Very soon I'll be able to see if I've achieved what I set out to do when I bought the car. If anyone has any questions about the ins & outs of this conversion, definitely send them across & I'll answer as best as I can. Cheers for reading.
