G'day everyone, I've been up ALL night long mind f**king myself as to HOW TO INSTALL an OIL CATCH CAN. I understand that it's a relatively simple job, just time consuming at best. HOWEVER, I am absolutely and entirely LOST as to what happens with the Air intake part of things (does the catch can need its own air filter) and even as to whether I'm going to HAVE TO modify somewhere along my air intake to allow a clean flowing air or "vacuum" as many people have mentioned. WHICH THEN leads to me wondering will my Air intake sensor be stuffed up if I cut holes or put filters in my Air box. As you can see, I am totally MUDDLED and have spent the last 4 hours searching and searching for a STEP BY STEP process for installing a Catch can in a N/A RB30 Sedan... If anyone could make simple step by step Instructions, from begging to start and explain to me as to whether I even NEED to put an air filter/air vacuum for a catch can to work? Pictures and VERY simple instructions/terms if at all possible would mean the absolute WORLD. Thanks a million!

I purchased an RB30 block back in April and it just arrived here in te states. After reviewing the purchase I found out it did not have a crank cradle. I also found out that it wasn't interchangeable wuth the RB26 cradle. Can anyone help me out?

Hi All, This is going to sound like a joke almost, but my grandfather has handed in his keys and he is selling his car of 26 years, his bronze GX Sklyline. He bought the car back when I was 14 in 1987 and he was the second onwer having bought the car with 900km on the clock. It has been garraged every night of it life, hasn't got a spot of rust and for its age it is in ming condion. The car has done 178,000 km, everything works, new brake pads & rear muffler, tranny serviced at 120,000 along with timing chain and belts, tyres 50%. I believe the engine uses no oil and the car is licensed for another few weeks. It would suit someone looking to restore or modify, the car was in the hail storm in Perth a few years back, there is some damage on the roof, bonnet and boot, but minor. Hi, I have a VL Commodore with a naturally aspirated RB30, done near 300,000KM and it's screwed. How tricky is it to go to an RB25DET and what mods will have I have to do to the engine bay? Is it worth doing this or would it be cheaper to rebuild the RB30 to take a 35-40 Garrett turbo which will set me back roughly $12-15K? Also where do I get a good RB25DET from? I live 3 hours from Brisbane. Thanks heaps

Hi all, I am currently in the middle of Building/Converting an RB30DET S14 Facelift and require some opinions from people with experience. I am aiming at a 400-450Hp (300-350KW) build, I am mid-way through and need some help deciding between a few items, I am not to stressed on the money side of things but prefur not to be paying out the ass for unnecessary items that dont give much power output. This is the build I have in mind and wondering if there are any things that people would change or would rate. RB30 block from VL auto Commedore (Honed and Dipped) Rb25DE head TopMount Manifold with 44MM wastegate 750-850cc Injectors Ultra Spark Coil packs Garret Turbo, either GT35R, TA3410 or GT3076. ( has anyone dealt with chinese rip-ops of these turbos and know if they are anywhere worth it? have been told not to bother but never heard of anyone having one blow up on them ) Have a crank collar, New water pump, Oil restricters etc I have a mate building this with me who is definately more switched on when it comes to RB's so ignore if I sound a little new to this. This is where i need help on deciding things. - I have read RB20DET gear boxes can only handle upto 400hp safely so i'm assuming a 25DET one will be needed? - Also I need help deciding on what internals to replace with aftermarket parts, am I right in saying cams would be a better investment than pistons/Conrods? -Should I replace the valves and valvesprings in the head as I read they are 400HP capable and would rather be safe than sorry. also does this make a power increase? -Are N1 Oil pumps worth it? there are very mixed feelings on these I have found, I am not going to be doing limiter raping skids or anything just after a nice sounding car with decent speed There is a place near where I live (Christchurch, New Zealand) that I have heard great things from when it comes to dyno tuning and have heard they provide there own ECU's so thats where I will be going at the end of my build. I am open to all suggestions so please feel free to post your builds and power outputs.

Need some info from the RB30 Guru's. RB30 pistons in RB25 block? Does it work! Compression good? Anyone done this before and having no issues? Reason i want to do this is because my pistons on my RB25 are cracked and we got loads of R31 skylines here in South Africa so the RB30 pistons are cheap and readily available. Where as the RB25 is a import motor for us and parts/spares are expensive! If you guys could be of assistance that would be legendary! Thanks!

Hi I have a R31 skyline. I recently replaced the RB20 engine with a RB30e. Changed to a Gotech MFI-X ecu. It had trouble with the exhaust valves as they burnt up and bent. I bought a replacement set of valves, replaced the head gasket and various other seals. After that, the car would not start. The motor just turns but won't idle. There's spark, there's fuel delivery and the motor just until the battery runs out. Please help

Hey All, So I was gonna go down 25/30 route with the 33 but have decided I'd rather save to buy a house then spend my deposit on the car. I only purchased the motor and cooler around 6 months ago and since then they have been sitting in my garage awaiting some love and attention. All items are located in Wattle Grove, Sydney. Out of a R31 as can be seen by NISSAN stamps not HOLDEN. Picked up another 31 and plan to do a "budget" restoration; as it needs to be tidied up and i have the next few months free. I plan on trying to minimise costs, as it's only going to be used as a daily. She's a classic white 1989 GX (Auto ) with around 220,000 kms. Currently, the first step is to fix her up (I chose to focus on just the front of the car for now). This will include: Rust removal and repair (engine bay and under the guards) Fab up new battery stand 2 replacement fenders Respray the bay (QM1 white) Clean and paint engine Paint rocker cover, fuel rail, intake Pod filter (only due to space) - Cold air intake New gaskets all round (unsure about head gasket yet) New bolt kit for engine bay Paint wheel arches black Paint hubs black Paint calipers blue Fit new rims that have been recently sprayed Fix dodgy/broken wiring and clips Future plans include: QM1 Polar white paint job Manual conversion New springs and shocks Extractors and exhaust Will post pictures later on tonight of how she's currently sitting at the moment and what ive done so far. This is a brand new RB26 intake plenum produced by the infamous RIPS. These are iconic pieces of work, and power some of the highest RB engines ever built. It is polished, and includes a custom anodized purple throttle body, which makes it one of a kind. These are quite rare to see, and are very costly to get, for good reason. Hi guys, Selling my brand new top mount MX twin scroll exhaust manifold that i bought for my 26/30 setup. It has a twin gate setup for 45mm gates. It has been HPC coated. Will suit any rb motor im pretty sure. It has been custom made to fit any turbo size up to GT42 frame with 5inch front housing. Only reason for sale is it didnt fit my turbo to begin with and i had to send it back to get remade and took them months and just got over waiting so go my tuner to custom make one on the car the way i wanted and now they wont return it.
