  1. My RB25 is lately struggling to get to 5k rpm it feels like it's not boosting. It gets to about 4.5-5k then splutters. It is usually 580hp and would usually scream instantly to 7k rpm in seconds. I have also noticed it is idling really high. Like 1500 rpm which makes me think maybe a vac hose has come off or something. The microtech dash is reading boost but I am not feeling it. If idle is high, would that suggest vac is leaking somewhere after the throttle body? IMG_5140.mov
  2. Power loss diag update - snow button So I have come across something that seems to have fixed the very slow responsiveness of the throttle in my series 1 RS4 auto today. I met up with the local stagea owners over the weekend and I heard at some point that the snow button on the centre console pressurizes the Atessa system when it is flicked on. So I thought that maybe in my car it is not pressurizing correctly upon ignition and that might be why the car feels so sluggish. I tried it this morning I flicked the switch to "snow" and back to "power" a couple of times and there it was: torque, accelleration, response. I can now feel the difference between off boost and on boost more defined and the wheels spin much easier too. So is there any info you guys might have or know of about how the "pressurizing" of the Atessa system works? Should I get the awd serviced maybe?

  4. BOV leak? Induction sound help!! Hi skyline aficionados. I am fairly new in Aus and recently I bought a r33 s1 gtst rb25det. About a week ago I was cruising around and a cop pulled me over, the usual story, drivers license, open the bonnet etc (ok, I wasn't cruising) Everything was good until he gave me a yellow sticker, this was new to me, who would have thought that in Aus the cops are also mechanics.. Anyway, today I took the car to the pits and it failed because of missing mesh in IC, tyres with low tread a pod filter without permit and a blow off valve. All of the above can be fixed quite easily with the exception of the blow off valve.. The engine is practically stock, just have aftermarket IC, the pod and the boost valve is bypassed, the blow off valve is stock. The car does indeed have a massive induction noise, which is why the inspector complained.. I don't need to rev a lot to start hearing that induction sound and at some times (seems to be only in constant rpm) the sound seems to be slightly metallic, if I just push the throttle the sound keeps going up until I lift it and i ear normal turbo flutter, not the pigeon sound just the normal decompression. Could this be the stock BOV leaking? a boost leak? the pod filter?? The only odd thing that I see is the boost valve bypass, its not the usual grounding the black wire and leave the hoses. Instead I have the wastegate connected directly to the hose that comes from the turbo and goes to the IC, the top connector on the valve has nothing on it and the bottom one is connected to the intake (after the IC) will post some pics later. Long story short I just want the noise gone otherwise i might as well ask for a job at the pits since i'll be there all the time.   5. Hello, I just got a new setup in my r33 with Garrett GT3076r turbo and stock rb25det engine. I purchased everything new, new turbo, new piping and all the wires. So my car was driving ok for about 2000km and after 1 month the strange sound is coming from the engine bay. I tried to record the sound with my microphone on gopro to diagnose which part of the engine can it be. The sound is coming near the turbo. Around the turbine the sound was the strongest so far. I was checking some components around the engine to look for a boost leak because my mechanic claims that this is from the cold side. We could not find anything for 2 days. Now tomorrow some guy is going to check my turbine and i am expecting the worst that i will have to buy a new turbine that has only 2000km on it. ;/ Is this possible that this sound comes from turbine rotor? Anybody experienced something like this before? The sound is very scratchy and sharp and its getting worst every single day and its very laud from outside. Its so loud inside of the car that i cant hear my exhaust. My tourbine is still loading the boost so far and i have this sound from 2 weeks. Dont know what the hell is this.   6. Hi SAU, Having boost related issue with my BCNR33. Car is making no boost! Triple gauge is registering vacuum, needle moves from negative to 0kg/cm2. Car drives normally, no sputtering or misfiring. AFRs also reading normal. Acceleration feels normal up until 3500rpm or so where you can begin to feel the lack of grunt. No woosh sounds either, just the sound of the HKS mushrooms sucking air. Just a little background on the car: HKS2530s, 2.8, E85, VIPEC V88, ~20psi max boost, 4in Exhaust. Recently had front turbo oil feed replaced by mechanic due to the old one being cracked. Got car back from them on a Sat and it was boosting fine but felt a little underpowered. Didn't drive car again till Wed. This is when is stopped boosting all together. Didn't hear any bang/pop, didn't notice any smoke either. Currently waiting to hear back from mechanic. In the mean time have inspected piping on both hot and cold sides (also checked FMIC piping behind indicator grilles) for potential boost leak, however wasn't able to find anything loose or hissing. Doing a little research on these forums leads me to believe that it could be a blown turbo or a blocked/malfunctioning CAT. All of the posts regarding no boost and blown turbos usually are owners with ceramic wheel turbos, which mine aren't. With my limited mechanical knowledge and tools I've taken as much piping as I can to check the turbos. The front turbo looks okay? It spins freely and has no shaft play. Don't have the tools to check the rear turbo as I can't get that elbow looking thing off to inspect the wheel. I'm yet to inspect the CAT. Question: If one turbos blown will I be getting half the amount of full boost or just no boost at all? Question: What are the chances of the CAT causing the absence of boost? I assume it would have been the ceramic wheels dropping into them. But again, I'm certain I don't have ceramic wheels. Question: What do you reckon is causing no boost? Appreciate any and all help!

Hello guys I need help identifying what this hose i circled red is called and what does it do, reason i ask is that this morning i drove my GTT on the highway and i instantly noticed a lost in power, my boost gauge shows my max boost today was only 4 PSI as before i ran 10 PSI all the time, i presume this hose is the culprit as it is teared a little bit a while ago to which i wrapped it around in that yellow sticky tape and clamped it together.
