  1. Hi guys Anyone out there actually installed these? The rear mounts that push into the subframe MUST be installed a certain way up...(Jap instructions are not clear which way) I will get photos up to explain asap.... Just wondering if anyone has the answer now? Cheers
  2. I had a workshop look over the car to inspect a clunk in the driveline as described here. Apparently it's a combination of the following: Shot diff bushes (upper & lower) Worn tie rod ends Worn ball joints HICAS - needs a lock bar Apparently the diff bushes is a subframe out job, is this right? I also read that it's a prick of a thing to do in an R33, is it the same for R34's? Is there any hope to do this at home or too hard basket? I've replaced a few of metal sleeved factory bushes before and getting them out sucks bigtime If it's a workshop thing, what's the approximate labour? Should I do subframe bushes at the same time? Apparently there's a whole fruit platter you can chuck in there, no idea what them pineapples do...
  3. Has anyone installed polyurethane steering rack mount bushes? Was there a noticeable change? any downsides, like harshness or vibration? thanks

  9. Compression rod bushes! G'day Fellas, Been lurking somewhat, real quick intro, Oddly enough I'm a classic Peugeot nut and that takes up most of my car building time, however I'm onto my second import Nissan, First was a E51 and I'm now kicking around in an M35 RS4 that I got for a steal while i Finnish off the Pugs Bloody AWD! I had a small knock in the front right of the Stag, it has gotten worse so i figgered i should actually chuck it on the hoist, still wrapping my head around late AWD I wiggled, wobbled and whacked everything with-out to much confirmation of anything, to be honest, it looks like i should do all the rubber under there in the future, but money and time is in shorter supply due to the other french commitments. So after dragging back though posts and suspension diagrams I'v identified where i think its stemming from, the "compression rod" even finding the correct term was an episode, The inner bush is pretty maggoted, There seems to have been a fair bit of discussion in posts on suppliers that all seem to turn into PM's so leads me here, what the flamein heck can i get them?!? i dont mind 'Thane, also, do i really have to pull apart the whole assembly to get it out? Is there a mob that will hook me up with a full front end bush kit at a good price? I'v already done TieRods, and the other ball joints "seem" ok Cheers guys, Cal
  10. Is PM35 suspension same as M35? I've got a 2005 350RX and whilst it never handled like a go-kart, over the past year it's turned into a jelly boat - more body roll than the Michelin man and I'm getting wear on both shoulders of the rear tyres. Was under it the other day to change belts and brake rotors and it looks like the chassis end bush on the ??compression rod?? is torn on both sides, and the sway bar mount bushes are a bit knackered. I'm thinking it's time to swap the old rubber bushes out for urethane ones, but a bit lost trying to find part numbers. Does anyone know if the suspension is the same as the RWD 2.5L's? Are there aftermarket sway bars that would fit? I'm not really keen to lower since I regularly need the ground clearance getting in and out of a couple of driveways, but something needs to be done to reduce the body roll. BTW, I'm in NZ, but assuming that even if stuff isn't available locally, I should be able to get most stuff shipped across the ditch if necessary - just gotta figure out what to get!
  11. Hello, I just need to make sure I am looking at the right part number. Does this match the rear outer tie rod bushes in the uprights.? I need to replace them. 55154-30p00
  12. Hello. I have a R34 GTT and because reasons, I need to maintain stock geometry. However, I can change the geometry. I have a few questions. 1) Can I get a non HICAS subframe and bolt everything from the GTT subframe into said subframe? 2) What parts of said subframe determine whether the rear shocks can be fork or eyelet type? I do not want to change from current fork type because I would like to keep my coilovers. My ultimate goal is to convert my current car into having stock rear toe arms I can set with an adjustable whiteline bush for configurable toe. Answers to inevitable questions: I have a HICAS eliminator kit already. I can not use this. The diff has to come out because reasons anyway. The tailshaft is removed for reasons anyway as is the exhaust. There's not much in the way of removing the subframe. I would also like to put every bush known to man into whatever subframe (i.e the R34 non HICAS one) goes back into the car. Is there a kit for this? I don't know the names of every bush that is on every site and this is quite confusing to me. I do have *some* bushes already. Can I re-use these? I have pineapples, and rear camber adjustment for the current uprights in the GTT. How much of this can be re-used? OPTION 2: Buy HICAS parts and put into GTT subframe. Surely no one wants option 2. I searched, oh god I searched but I'd like confirmation before I buy a subframe I can't use, or one that requires me to replace my diff, or axles, or coilovers or buy whiteline bushes I already own. I would much rather put HICAS back in than do that.
  13. I have been advised by my mechanic that the rear cradle bushes and diff bushes need to be replaced. He has estimated Approx $500 in parts and approx 1 day labour $950. Does the above sound right time and price wise? R34 GTT 1998

  15. Hi all, I got an alignment today to coincide with getting the tension rods replaced and the steering pulling to the left. Initially, I thought this would just be a routine alignment to go with the tension rods being replaced; however there was something weird picked-up by the shop to explain why the car was pulling to the left. The last alignment was around three months ago and the toe was set at zero. I hit a sizeable bump in the road about 2 months ago but there was no noticeable steering issues immediately following this. Only recently, say a week or so after changing the tension rods did I notice the steering wheel was cocked to the right, even when there was contrarian camber in the road. When stationary, I can feel a slight click/knock through the steering wheel when intially turning. This was actually why I changed the tension rods, well this and leaky TR bushes. I'm sure the steering rack bushes need replacing after >200k kms but could this be the source of the problem? As you can see, there seems to be a lateral shift in something in the front that caused the toe to move to +1.6 L/-1.5 R, you'd assume somewhere in the vicinity of the rack given the movement. I'm assuming the toe was true (@ about zero) prior to this shift. Using my broken Japanese, I was able to figure out the mechanic was saying "the alignment is fine now but it will change again when subject to certain lateral forces", "something something steering rack something" - I couldnt figure out whether he was saying bush or something else here. I should note that I've recently tried (with my hands) to move the front wheels with the car in the air but it felt solid.
  16. Hey guys, Photos below: Got this car from the auctions, grey import, has skyline printed all over but rego doesn't specify model, it's listed only as 2002 Nissan sedan so I'm not sure what model I should be looking at for parts etc. It's obviously been modified by previous owner, suspension has been lowered, possibly chopped, don't know for sure. Local mechanic sent me this photo after I took it in for a service and told me the front suspension (mainly bushes) are destroyed, and the steering column is about to fall off... He's said it'll take 6 weeks to source bushes/bushings for repair from Nissan, but doesn't seem sure about what parts will suit... Any advice on what model's parts will be compatible and where to source them? Possibly quicker/cheaper? Or a recommendation for a more specialised mechanic? Any help would be much appreciated, I'm at a loss! Thanks
