  1. Ceramic impeller destruction So I finally got my car back. Ceramic impeller on the back turbo went during a standard service at the shop i regularly visit. Fortunately I have a warranty on the car and the engine replacement was covered. I have attached some pictures to show what happened. The shaft on the left is what usually happens when the ceramic impeller decides to let go, but mine actually spun itself out of the shaft press fitting. The piston in the picture was #6, and it was in the best shape of the bunch #4 & #5.The piston walled were completely gouged and the valves took a beating as well. The shop was just returning from a short run around the block and on deceleration so the materials ended up in the cylinders and the impeller in my new exhaust pipe. The funny thing is I was just scheduling a return date to have the turbos built with billet internals...Well now they are. Seasoned block, re-built heads, new crank, new pistons, refurbed rods..now she is back on the road. If you are ever in the NT and you need the best Skyline / GTR mechanic within 1200km..Dion over at AutoSparky in Alice Springs is your man. I can't thank him enough for all he did. This man is truly a wizard among the GTR ranks.
  2. The team here at Empire Performance are excited to deliver a new product to the world of R35 GT-R owners! These premium dump pipes boast a high flowing design which ensures a huge performance gain over the standard downpipes. To reduce the annoying excessive heat in the footwells of both the passenger and driver, as is a common complaint with R35's driven in hot conditions (ie. here in Australia), the dump pipes are dual-layer ceramic coated to reduce radiated heat from 170 degrees, down to only 60 degrees! This ensures that no matter what the ambient temperature is, basically no heat will be radiated through the footwell, and the temperatures in the cup-holder sections are dramatically reduced. These dump pipes have been fitted on my own personal R35 and the decrease in footwell temperatures is instantly noticeable in hot weather, especially on the drivers footrest which was previously ridiculously hot if your foot ever touched it (driving in thongs for example). We also offer ceramic coated mid-pipes, and complete cat-back systems at competitive prices to provide you with the ultimate heat-dispersion exhaust system. Price - $795 + $55 shipping Australia wide. Turnaround time is about 2 weeks from purchase to delivery as each item is made to order.
  3. New to SAU and New to turbo Hey everyone, I have owned my R32 for 5 months and only truly had it running well for a few weeks. Its a RB20 with RB25 turbo. Also this is my first turbo engine I've ever owned and worked on. So far I've learned a lot. First week the turbo started to whistle. After removing the turbo I found the fins broke. Next week the ignition control module gave out and I went and did the z32 conversion also took the opportunity to change the ignition coils, plugs and pigtails This time the turbo went out again. I heard it something broke and lost all boost. The shaft itself broke clean. I have read that these ceramic breaks and its common. But I am wondering if the shaft breaking is common as well. Right before it broke, there was no heavy boosting. I was pushing about 5psi every shift just letting it whistle... Next turbo going in is the HKS GARRETT GT2530. I would like to make sure that the shaft breaking is a common problem or was it because of lack of oil. When I removed the oil bolt on the turbo the fluid looked consistent. Nothing alarming to where it looked dry. Any tips appreciated! I also attached a photo of the broken shaft.
